The red orb continued to float along and the female voice came again. "Give up. Go back. He is dead. You are not. You can hear. He cannot. Go away."

"I won't give up. Sharder isn't someone to give either. I know that. He was always so strong. He never stood down to anyone and always showed his worth. He won my friendship and I in turn won his. It was a long journey, but I know he would never give up everything we went through together. We're friends, and I'm here to help my friend, even at the expense of my life.
"What about Crystal Sharder? Weren't you going to marry her? Weren't you going to give her the best wedding you could and then spend your lives together and make a family. Didn't you promise with that ring, to both me and her that you would never hurt her? Well she's back there now, torn and dying inside and you're just going to leave her like that. Take responsibility and be a man worthy of her love. Worthy to be her husband. Come back to us and make a family and raise your children with all the love you never had. Show them that the world isn't all bad. And then, when they are grown and you've both grown old together, you can rest in peace together, side by side," Shadow said, his mind not showing the tears that began to streak down his face.
"Finished," Zakuro said, not sure whether anyone could hear him or not.
The body had been healed back to a manageable state and the blood was now flowing, returning color and warmth to the cold and grey body.

The orb finally paused in its journey. It could feel the pain in Shadow's own soul, aching and burning inside of him, pulling at Storm's own. After what seemed like eternity, the orb finally began backtracking, coming back the way it had come. Suddenly, all the other orbs vanished, even to Shadow, and the female voice finally got a tone with emotion: Fury. "You think you may leave the realm of the dead?! You belong here! You have died! I don't care if it suits you or not! Maybe you shouldn't have put yourself in the front lines of a war!" The red orb quickly began losing color and altitude, beginning to sink low as it struggled back. "This is my realm. I am death. No one leaves."

"RELEASE HIM. NOW." The roar of anger was unmistakably Narasu's. Another red orb floated forward, mimicking Storm's orb's color, showing Narasu had passed into this realm and his large black-scaled body was no longer breathing. He darted quickly to Storm's soul and the two orbs struggled to hover together. Narasu's orb began dimming and Storm's began regaining its color. The two orbs began getting closer and closer to Shadow, running to regain their lives.

"I DIDN'T STUTTER!" The female voice shouted and a large blank orb appeared, rushing for the two red ones. As if on cue, the black orbs began reappearing and a few began coming back... they put themselves in front of the blank orb, forcing the female to maneuver and falter. The other black orbs did nothing to help. It was easily assumed these black orbs were soldiers who had also recently died, explaining why there were so many and why Shadow could see them while Narasu could not. Narasu had never met these soldiers. Shadow had fought beside them.

The two red orbs disappeared in a large flash of light in Shadow's mind which shoved his mind back into his body where it belonged. The large black dragon gasped as, too, returned to his body.

In the coffin, the newly-healed body made movement. Storm's chest rose and fell with new breath. At first, this was all the body showed but after a while, he twitched and gave a slight moan, his eyes finally opening as his hands weakly went to his chest. "It... hurts...." He winced at each breath as his lungs stretched his extremely sore newly-healed chest.

All in a flash, Shadow returned to his body, and with the sudden shock to his he collapsed, his mind reeling as her struggled to grab hold of reality. He could hear distant choking and heavy gasps, as well as strained grunting. Slowly his world began to settling back as it always was and he realized the sound was coming form him, an after effect of nearly being sucked into death and being forced back.
Though his breaths began to regulate and return to normal, a splitting headache that ran from ear to ear ailed him. The moment he heard Storm's familiar voice though, Shadow nearly leaped at him. Zakuro's magic had been forced out of the body when Storm finally returned to it and he replied, "It was all I could do with the time."
Shadow ignored this. "Storm. Storm, can you hear me? Are you all right? Are you back?" he asked not believing this method had actually worked. His eyes filled with tears of pure joy and he buried his face in his arms, crying over the return of his best friend.

"What... time?" He forced out through his pained breathing, confusion dancing in the newly lighted eyes. He forced himself to sigh, hoping it would help a bit from his tightened chest. At least he was comfortable. His back lay on the soft padding, curving perfectly to him and making him almost willing to sleep, feeling suddenly extremely tired. Surrounded by a small wooden wall so he couldn't roll out and a wooden lid so....

A crash sounded as the coffin was toppled over, spilling the nice cloth inside and breaking the lid off, Storm sitting with wide eyes a few feet away from it, his arms curled about his legs. "W-what... the hell.... was I doing.... Shadow!" Was this some sort of crude joke? But as he looked at Shadow, the man was crying. The confusion only gathered more in his eyes. And why had Storm tripped over the side of the coffin? He had meant to simply jump out and make it to the other side of the room, but he had instead stumbled out and only made it a few feet. His speed seemed nonexistent and his body seemed very unresponsive. The new panic at awaking in a coffin was not helping him figure out anything. And his quickened breathing was sure not helping his chest. He forced himself to take care of the pain first by trying to take slower and shallower breaths. Finally, he tried to speak. "What... is going... on." He forced out, feeling extremely tired.

A soft rumble came from Narasu as the large dragon came over and curled around his newly-livened rider, breathing some warmth over the still-chilled body as it was trying to sustain life once again. He closed his crimson eyes, calm with having Storm back again, leaving enough space for Shadow to be able to have a proper reunion with Storm and try explaining things to him.

Shadow was surprised at Storm's sudden reaction and pulled himself together, realizing that he had to be the strong one this time. He wiped his eyes dry on his sleeve and sniffed one last time as he composed himself as much as possible. Shadow, equally weakened, threw his arm around Storm's shoulder gently, as if they were having drinks together and began to explain some of what was going on while trying not to break again.
He started from where Storm's memory would have left off from the war and explained how Crystal went on a rampage of anger after he died, how the whole of the army suddenly gave it everything they had, and how they'd won the war in the end, though with large loss on their sides. He told Storm how Crystal protected his body through the night until finally giving herself to the reality that she had to let go, and that she was too weak to continue. He told Storm how he found a way to bring back the dead kings within a certain time of death and what exactly had to be done, including Zakuro's healing, Narasu's guidance, and him risking his life to dive in and bring Storm, and filling in all the blanks of how things ended up the way they were now. "That's why you awoke in a coffin, why we are both barely able to move, and why you feel that way. Just take it easy though. Don't try to strain yourself yet. We both made it out, and in the end, that's enough for one day," Shadow said with a content sigh.
With the biggest smile, Shadow looked at Storm and said, "So as your best friend, let me just be the first so say, Welcome back to our side!"

As Shadow told him of his own death, Storm could barely wrap his mind around it. He looked down at his seemingly healed body and verified that what Shadow said was true. Everywhere Shadow said was done to him hurt. His chest, where his heart was pierced, the main area of pain. He zoned in and out as Shadow continued the tale. I... died.....I.... "I was....d-dead..." His eyes strayed to the coffin that was toppled over on the floor. "Th-that.... is....mine." His voice broke on the last word as his hand unconsciously grabbed Shadow's shirt. Narasu gently blew another soft warm breath over Storm, sensing the rising panic and feeling Storm's shiver. Storm didn't seem to share any of the relief Shadow felt.

The resurrected demon jumped to his feet, wincing in extreme pain but not letting himself fall back down. "I want out... of this room." He forced out, leaning on to Narasu for support as his crimson eyes looked at Shadow, silently asking for assistance.

Shadow, though weak and struggling with himself, had much better control of his body that Storm did and would probably be healed with a good nights sleep. He hauled himself off the while tiled floor with a heavy breath and slipped Storm's arm around his shoulders. "I'll take care of him for a bit Narasu. You try to get some rest," Shadow said with a smile.
Together they began limping from the room in a fashion that only friends would. Shadow stopped a moment and addressed Zakuro. "Zakuro, I really appreciate what you've done for us. I won't ask anything else of you, so feel free to return to your people. And the gates are always open to you and your troops," Shadow said, then continued out of the room at Storm's urging.
"You saved my wife from insanity and helped my daughter when she needed you. It was the least I could do to show my gratitude," Zakuro replied in a rare multitude of words, then he left off to return to their side.
"All the kingdom is mourning the dead and trying to clean up after the blood bath right now, and Crystal's resting up in her room finally. Would you like to go to the room and rest as well?" Shadow asked as they went along slowly, using the walls to help their progress.

"Yes." Storm said in a monotoned, all of his focus going to trying to make his legs work efficiently. A newly revived body wasn't exactly quick to move accordingly. His nerves and muscles were still trying to maneuver after being cold and useless.

Once they go to the room, Storm released Shadow and, with struggle, made his way to the bed. Gratefully falling on it, he shivered at the recent feeling of just laying down in a coffin. Uncomfortable, he sat back up then glanced over at Crystal, still lying in her bloodied armor. He gave a soft loving smile reserved only for her as he gently reached over and rocked her a bit to wake her.

Shadow collapsed into a well furnished chair with a heavy sigh of relief and reclined, feeling the tension is his muscles as he stretched.

Crystal, deep in her realm of slumber, took time to stir. At first she grumbled something as she came around, then her eyes slowly pulled open to find Storm's smiling face a few feet away. At first she was confused, having just woken from a dreamless sleep, then the pain of loss and memories of the last few day's events came rushing through her. After a moment tears began rolling down her dirty cheeks. It was the sorrow from before as she reached her hand to touch him. First his chest, then up his neck and to his face, then gently to rub his hair which he so fondly liked.
New emotions washed away what had hung heavy in her heart. Joy, relief, happiness, comfort, and above all, love. It was him. His face, his eyes that told the story of his heart, and finally his voice that she dearly loved. "I told you, I'd never break our promise."
Crystal's smile spread from ear to ear and she replied, "Welcome home."
Tears flowed freely from her eyes and she curled up against him, burying her face against him as to hide her face.

Shadow smiled warmly, glad to see the two reunited at last, then silently, he slipped from the room and returned to his own to give them privacy and strip from the mess of blood, dirt, and cloth that clung to his body.

He winced roughly as her weight hit his chest. That has got to be what kille- He couldn't bear to finish the thought as he shifted her off of his chest while wrapping his arms lovingly about her, only imagining what she could have gone through. He kissed her head softly, whispering into her hair: "I love you baby." He smiled. "But we're both not the cleanest things. Maybe we should clean up before dirtying the bed anymore?" Of course he wanted a bit more than he'd ask, trying to respect her wishes of wanting to wait until marriage to do anything. But it was always on his mind.
