Storm followed her, letting his own eyes search aid her in her search. "I have very strong methods I use. Especially when I interrogate someone. That is something I'd much rather never have you watch. But I do not like to take risks when choosing my elite guard and, so, I will not with you. Here's one." He pulled down a very old parchment, the paper having the discolorment of age. It held the word "Manura" on the side of it, written by hand. He handed it to her. "Besides, he is not chosen, yet. Just someone I have my eye on." He gave her a sly smile and left her side, returning in a few moments. "That's about it on them, aside from a few smaller papers. Here." He handed her all the ones he'd found, one being a small book.

"Thank you very much Charlie," she said filling her arms with the documents. "Well, I think that can cover it for tonight. I can look over these and get a good feel of the place, unless you have somewhere you'd like to go Storm," she added turning over the choice to him.
She was glad to have came here, and happy that Storm tried to comfort her as much as he did.

He smiled at her kindly and handed her his own documents. "I want to look at these, but later. I really want to take a look at the army and guard we have. And also get a layout of the kingdom. If you don't mind. I'll be out for a couple of hours, but only because I'll be going at a human pace and taking in everything. And hopefully finding some more potentials for the soon-to-be-had special guard. Which I have decided I will definately be the sole captain of. No one else. I'll need a few potentials because probably more than half will crack under me. Again, something I don't want you to see." He smiled and stole a quick kiss. "Anyway, I'll only be gone because of the pace I'll have. If you need me for anything, use telepathy and I'll be at your side in a moment, using my own speed. Even if it's just a bad dream. It won't kill me to come back early the first night." He smiled and nodded to Charlie. "Find yourself a partner. You'll be guarding the Queen's chambers. No one in. But leave her at peace. She has a lot to study." He looked again to Crystal. "I'll be back before dawn. Goodnight." With that, he was gone, reassuring her of his speed capabilities and readmitting them to Charlie, sending a shiver through the guard.

Crystal was taken back to her grand chamber, which was overly elaborate, but for once, she didn't mind. Charlie found another guard, and together, they were posted just outside of her room. She closed and locked the door, happy to finally be alone to her own devices. Immediately, she gave up the whole high air of a queen and reverted back to being Crystal. She flung the jacket to a hamper in the corner of the room, which her dress had already been cleared from, after setting all the pieces she had procured from the library on a fancy table made of a dark hard wood. she left the one that Storm had gotten on the table and retrieved her own and moving to her bed.
Crystal laid down, sprawling out in the heavy, soft cover on top and began looking at some of the things. There was a large city outside the castle walls where a large majority of the common people lived. There was a large wall surrounding that with her imperial guards watching the perimeter. In the heart was her castle, which was protected by a wall as well. The grounds were quite expansive as she had seen, and people lived in the castle as well, mostly either nobles, or people serving on the grounds. The gates were open to the public during the day and closed at night. The territory expanded well beyond the city, all the way to the border of their nearest ally to the east, and enemy to the west. the north was the center of the territories, Corentar, which had already been laid to waste by wars over that once fertile land. to the south was uncharted lands according to her modern map.
She set those two maps aside and reached for the one that outlined the castle grounds and specs, when she saw the ~Manura~ listed at the top of that one scroll. She couldn't resist opening it before anything else. She pulled the deep purple sash tie from around it and uncoiled the scroll. It was clearly old, but retained its shape and ink well. It was in an old demon language, one that Crystal wasn't too familiar with yet, but she could make out some of the texts. It spoke of something called "Maru Faltsen" Which was hidden somewhere, though it was hard to make out the characters of the name, written in elven rather than demon.
Crystal puzzled over it for a while, wondering what Manura wanted with the knowledge on the page, though unable to decipher it all, she was hopeless. She sighed and rolled it back up for later and tied the colored sash back around it. next she pulled the large book up and opened to the page with many symbols. She traced them with her hand as she read the names of some of them aloud. "Seraldist, Angelic, Zulfikar, Human, Neko," and the one that had drawn her in, "Elemental Arcane."
She pondered some of them, but couldn't understand why there was a book with all these in it. She attempted to conjure forth the Arcane Scriptures, but the hold against her power prevented her. This was a problem she would have to begin working against.
time drew on into the night and Crystal drifted to sleep reading through the book, what parts she could make out that weren't in elvish of old demon.

As sun came in through the large window within her room, Storm watched it hit her eyes and only awaited it to awaken Crystal. He had a large new scar on his upper right arm, which still slightly trickled blood, and it seemed to have put him in a sour mood. Instead of being at Crystal's side, he stood a good distance away, anger in his eyes, twirling his knife in his hand. He was silent, though, not wanting to wake her earlier than she needed to be. The two guards outside her door had been dismissed by him and he had her an outfit laid out for the day on the empty side of the bed.

Crystal slowly came awake, the gold tinted sun disrupting the comforting night. Her eye lids flickered slightly, but then she laid still, her senses gathering about her as she felt Storm's morose presence. It took only a moment, however, to pick it out as his and she relaxed. Rolling over, she found that the books and scrolls had been placed neatly on the desk, and she was comfortable under the blanket. She sat up, rubbing sleep from her eyes and stared around the room, at the clothes, and then Storm in the corner. She frowned despite the early morning and said, "You were out all night again weren't you?"

He shrugged. "I did tell you I would be. I was out checking the army and layout. As I said." His sour mood reflected the night's antics were not to his liking. "Anyway, I laid you out something formal and informal, depending on what your ideas for your work would be today. Formal is, of course, for anything you may do queenly and the informal is for anything like socializing."

Crystal clearly didn't like the fact that he was out causing trouble for himself, but didn't let on any further. She rolled on to her stomach, face in the pillow while thinking what she had to do. "I don't know. I guess...Hmm...what does a queen do anyways?" she asked, realizing that all ehr life she had been traveling. Crystal had never spent a day held down to one spot, and much less as that of a queen. She was far out of her element, and didn't know what to do here. She sat up and threw her legs over the side of the bed. Her feet touched the cools ground and shivers ran through her. There must be something other than sifting through pages for her to do.

"I'll tell you one thing you won't be doing today and that's messing with any part of the army what-so-ever." He growled and his eyes lit up slightly and a nice warmth slipped over Crystal, pushing back the shivers and warming the ground at her feet. "There's plenty of things to do. I'd start with finding out what the kingdom needs and then finding out how to get it. That's just me, though." A small drop of blood dripped from the scar on his arm and he let his fire burn it before it touched the ground.

Crystal felt the warmth, something she still wasn't used to yet, and when she looked at him, saw the drop burn. "Well you don't need to be hurting yourself either. Even if you can heal fast, I still know," Crystal stated.
She pulled the informal attire from the bed and stripped the one she had last night, which she had fallen asleep wearing, off and slipped into this one. "I think I'm going to go to the town outside. I glanced over the maps, so I know where I'm going, and I'm sure who ever is guarding with me will know as well," she added with a grimace.
She picked the scroll from her desk that was for the town outside, and also the one for ~Manura~. "I guess I'll go see what we, or rather the people need. Also, I can't read all of this scroll that man wanted. It's something about a Maru Faltsen, some life force crystals, a location in elvish, but it's old language, and I'm not that skilled or old. I guess he wants to find these things," She said offering him the scroll with the deep purple sash tie and tossing her clothes from the night into the hamper.
She looked at his eyes, crimson and grim, and moved her hand to hover above the wound that he had managed to achieve. "Your always so reckless," she whispered lightly while wiping away a small trickle of blood that threatened to run more.

He hissed, fires of anger dancing in his eyes. "It wasn't me this time! It's not my damn fault! The damn general and the rest of the damn army don't have enough sense to-!" He cut himself off, fury coming off of him in waves, forcing the fire in his eyes to drop back down into a contained smolder. He looked at her, the anger not dying in the slightest. "I'm sorry." He took the documents silently. "I'll look into it for you. Take Charlie with you. I'll either join you or I'll just meet up with you tonight. I'll show you what I find out on this then. Call me if you need me."

Crystal smiled slightly through her worry. She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him gently, her lips cool to his. "You don't need to apologize. Just come back to me alive and in one piece."
With that said, she slipped out of the room and began wandering the halls. She had managed to memorize how to get from her room to main cavern and at the door was Charlie again. He saluted to Crystal and she did a nod of acknowledgment. "Would you mind giving up this post and escorting me through the town today?"
He gave a broad smile, but made a visible effort to hide it. "Of course madam."
After someone came to replace him, they both went through the gate, out of main cavern, which was quickly becoming lively with people, out to the court yard. When she tried to exit the main gates, there was slight protest. "Your majesty, please allow us to go and retrieve what you need," one man said.
She shook her head and replied, "I need to see my people, not just the insides of these walls."
"Then at least take a decent escort with you. I can-"
"That won't be unnecessary. I have two men with me at all times," She said firmly, a set determination in her features.
They were skeptical, but let her through, only after realizing that she was only with one guard.

Storm smirked and watched her leave the room, disappearing back into the library chambers to do some of his research.

As the sun hit its height and began dropping, with Crystal and Charlie going around the kingdom, a warm wisp of air blew over them and Storm appeared at Crystal's side, the opposite side Charlie was on. He held some new and bleeding scars and the same anger from that morning was hidden deep within his eyes, but what was covering this was happiness and excitement. He took Crystal's wrist and began leading her. "Come, I have something that requires a queen's attention. I think you'll like this part of your job." He led her through the village excitedly, noting Charlie's following them, which made his tense muscles relax at having at least one guard who knew the proper treatment of Storm. "By the way, I found a lot on that document. You'll be very pleased when we get home tonight." He finally came to one of the smaller huts and he knocked on the door before opening it and leading the other two in. He indicated them to be quiet and he led Crystal and Charlie back into the farthest bedroom that had the door cracked open slightly. He gently pushed it open with a gentle smile, his anger disappearing completely from his eyes as they landed on the scene in the room.
The bed was covered in blood, preventing Storm from entering any farther for he had not drank recently, but the calm scene helped him enough to be able to look upon the scene. He spoke to Crystal in a whisper. "It is the queen's job to name and bless the newborns. It is kind to ask the mothers their name preferences. It is also a great honor if you choose one of their names they give you. It is seen as a high blessing to the family. You will then say the words "I declare this newborn baby girl to be named so-and-so and to be called this until death takes her in her old age." You will then bless the child itself, who is a girl, however you wish to do it. The more unique the blessing is for each child, the more it is valued. This is seen as highly important but it has no time limit. It is best to do it now, though, for honor and blessing sake. If you do this tomorrow, it is seen as a weaker blessing, more like a curse for the family and child to never be acknowledged when needed. What it does mean, though, is you have time to chat with the mother and play with the baby. Just don't take too long, for both of them are very tired. She's been in labor for almost a full day and I'm sure she'd like rest. The mother's name is Pearl. She is the sweetest poor woman I've met so far, here." He finally nodded to Crystal and then he bowed to the mother, who sat in the bed holding the sweet baby, showing his respect for her, though his bow was slight compared to Charlie's bow from the waist. Both showed the proper amount of respect for the mother. "We'll leave you two. Rest easy, Miss Pearl." He touched Charlie's shoulder and they both stepped outside of the hut, waiting.

Crystal was very surprised at this part, but she understood it all too well, and it also meant something more to her personally. She looked at the mother holding her own daughter, something Crystal will never know. Gently, she sat on the bed next to the mother, and looked at the child along with her mother. "I am Queen Crystal, " Crystal said not breaking sight of the child. "This is a grand day for you, and for your daughter to be born to. Tell me, what shall you name her?"

Zakuro wandered the town in the morning, not going to the castle yet, giving ample time for the queen to get situated before he made another attempt. He had pulled his scythe from hiding in the cloak he wore and used it as a sort of walking cane, passing by smaller huts in a poorer part of the town to the north east of the grounds. There was an ominous feel that followed him, and he could feel eyes watching him with some suspicion and much curiosity.

The mother smiled weakly at Crystal. "I am not sure. The names we choose are rarely used so I have not put any thought into it. I would like something that reminds us of the Earth, if my choice gets granted." Her voice was shakey, showing her weariness but her excitement at having the queen there was showing in her eyes. She moved the baby to offer her to Crystal. "Hold her. Please."

Storm stood outside with Charlie, his eyes on Zakuro, narrowed and filled with hostility. A low growl was coming from deep within his chest. You are of a high position. You cannot do anything unless he does something first. He reminded himself with a hiss.

Crystal took the baby and looked at her chubby face, eyes golden and amber in the sun light. She smiled and let the first thought that came to mind free. "Amber, like the precious, golden stone of the earth. That was the name of a close and very dear friend of mine in the past," She explained to Pearl.
"I declare this newborn baby girl to be named Amber and to be called this until death takes her in her old age."
With that, she exerted more energy then she should have, and whispers of her water swirled around the child in Crystal's own form of blessing. She smiled and touched Amber between the eyes and the energy dispersed. Crystal gingerly handed her back to Pearl saying, "Get some rest, and may you both have good fortune and health."
She was clearly out of breath, but hid it as well as possible, not to offend the mother and child in any way.

Zakuro could feel the pricks of heat on him from Storm, as well as other people, but didn't bother, assuming it was just a guard seeing him. Wandering, he saw Charlie and Storm both, finding Charlie's eyes, which strayed about aimlessly, but Storm's were burning and set. He didn't hesitate, but didn't speed up either, his gaily stride like he was gliding over the earth. He refused the desire to meet any challenge set before him, unaware that Crystal was within reach at this very moment.

Storm kept his eyes coldly on Zakuro, narrowed, until his attention was stolen by his sense of Crystal's energy dropping drastically. With reluctance, he went back inside the hut for Crystal, speaking lowly to Charlie: "Do not let that man in this house." He then slipped inside and went to the bedroom, where he saw the mother smiling weakly as she took back the baby and both began to drift into sleep. Storm entered only for a moment, still wanting blood, and took Crystal's hand gently. "Let's get you back to your room so you may eat and rest. You did very well, it seems." He smiled and kissed her forehead, not giving hints that he'd seen the stranger. He led her outside with him closely at her side, holding her arm like a gentleman caller, but it gave him an excuse to be close to her, his protective state rising as her weakened state became evident to him. It was only natural, though, for his kind. Fire was always protective and once a fire demon found a mate, it was near impossible for anyone to harm either one because of the levels of protection felt for the two by one another. It was near impossible for anyone to get to the male or the female, for the other would immediately be there. This was a tie, a bond unfelt by any other. A mate is the only one that could ever feel this bond. Storm and Narasu had a bond, sure, but it was different from this. For this reason, fire demons rarely, next to never, have more than one mate in their lifetime. They never divorce and should one die, the other is often so overwhelmed by the loss of connection that it leads to their own deaths. Spouse's graves are often dug at the same time, for they are nearly filled at the same time. This is how Storm felt, against his will or not. How Crystal felt was unknown to him, for he knew next to nothing about the water type, especially the Arcane, and he tried not to push her for fear she would leave.
Though they had not yet had an official wedding.
He led her to the castle, Charlie following silently, his eyes never leaving Zakuro, as was his orders.

Zakuro, when he saw he leave, didn't miss a beat. Without the slightest discretion, he turned to follow them, making it all the way to the castle before calling out in his whispered monotone before they vanished inside and out of reach. "So, may I please see the property that belongs to my family? It's not a harm to your rule by any means," He explained, knowing exactly what he was trying to find on the scroll, but not what where that thing was.
Crystal was trying her hardest to remain in a high state under the watchful eyes of her people. Her breaths came hard, but she was managing until she heard his voice. Despite her exhaustion, she was suddenly stiff. Without so much as a look, she called back, hoping he couldn't detect her fatigue. "I have yet to look into the knowledge. Return tomorrow and you will have your answer."
Zakuro knew he had no time to waste and flatly said, "Tonight before sunset. It's still early now."
Crystal took great comfort in Storm at her side, happy to be so close to him and to feel his protection. She knew he would hold her up, and she would do the same for him. She let this fill her with confidence, enough to stand high against Zakuro.

His soft growl came from deep within his chest, not moving an inch away from Crystal. "The Queen is being kind enough to give your out-of-line request a look into. She has told you you will get your answer tomorrow. By no means will you rush her. This is not a request. There is no argument against what has been said. The Queen has spoken and you will heed her words." His eyes glinted with defense. "She does have a busy schedule, you know. Because of that, I have taken on the role of receiving all complaints. Would you like to state yours now or would you like to wait for your answer instead of screwing up your chances? Either way, my schedule is quite open right now." His guard was up. He was more than ready to get this stranger gone. Charlie. If it comes to it, you will take the Queen to the safety of the palace and let me handle this, you understand?
Charlie jumped slightly, not knowing how this telepathy thing was possible, but nodded, since he didn't know how to use telepathy to answer.
Anticipation gleamed in Storm's eyes. His crimson eyes. Showing he was not of, not only this kingdom, but not even this element nor species.

A spark of electricity jolted up Zakuro's body as he set one foot behind the other in a steady stance. "It's not out of line by any means. It is what the prior queen was instructed to do upon my return," Zakuro said, knowing his ancestors had left it here for the future, "However, I'm just as willing to fight for it."
With those words, another spark surged around him.
Crystal pulled on Storm, half dragging him along saying, "Not here, and not now. I can handle this," and then loud for Zakuro, "Tomorrow, or nothing."
