Shadow stood gingerly, careful to test his body after the battle. Once he felt all was fine, he took her hand and led her to stand as well and, without any notice to the others, took her away from the group, not letting her hand go for fear of losing her. "You see, you've just left him and nothing has happened. Already, you're more free than before," He said as the moved through the forest, careful not to stray too far however.

Crystal's words were stopped dead in her throat when Storm kissed her. In surprise, and somewhat fear, she hesitated a moment, thinking to pull away, but instead she leaned in more, kissing him back. Her mind was racing and all in a moment, it melted to a blur as her love for Storm was answered. When the kiss was over, she looked up into his eyes, but then doubt crept in. "Is...Is this alright. Me and you?" She asked, unsure totally about everything.
Espira had rolled onto one side, missing the events taking place, and propped herself up on hands and knees, a splitting headache burning through her mind as she remembered the events of the previous day and the strain of her power on her body taking effect.

Kiya still seemed uncertain. "It is only because you took me. He will show his disapproval when we get back, I'm sure...." She looked up at Shadow, nervously, "We are going back, right, sir?..." Without realizing it, she was already finding herself safer with Storm, getting attached to him and feeling better with him than with Shadow.
Storm looked at her, his eyes easy. "What's to stop us? Shadow surely already knows, because he knows how I feel for you. Espira has no say. Kiya would probably benefit from having parent-like figures. Nature approves, seeing as how we have been in the same group for so long and both of us are still alive and not wanting to kill each other. My kingdom might have something to say, but they would come to grow with it. I completely approve. So, all that leaves is you." His words were soothing, his voice matching, and he seemed at ease with it all. But, as always, his eyes are what gave him away, showing his nervousness.

Crystal let his words sink in, letting her silence drag on for an uncomfortable amount of time. Her eyes showed hesitation, worry for what could happen, but there was the undeniable twinkle of love. She slowly nodded her head, then began nodding more, an uncontrolled grin on her face. "Yes. Yes, yes, yes!" she finally said, all other thoughts jumbling and becoming to complex for her to say.
Barely able to control herself, she moved to hug him, but stopped herself, afraid to cause more harm than good with Storm as torn physically as he is. Instead, she just smiled at him, staring into his crimson eyes with a sort of giddiness and happiness.
Shadow scoffed about her statement. "He disapproves of almost everyone and everything. You get used to it. He is a good person. And of course we will go back, but not until I give you a taste of your new freedom," He explained.
Shadow put his fingers to his mouth and gave a high pitched whistle. The silent figure of Aeroth was soon soaring above them. Shadow whisked Kiya into his arms and said, "Hold on tight."
He looked up and felt the pull of his element as it surrounded him, collecting to his feet and legs. With a powerful leap, the energy propelled him like a rocket above the lower parts of the canopy, swirls of darkness ebbing around them. Before they began falling back, Aeroth swept under them and took higher into safe skies, the sun shining its growing light upon them in the freedom of the wind and sky. Shadow settled on the soft feathers of Aeroth's back, Kiya safely in front of him, and then said, "Pick a direction. Anywhere you want, and that's where we'll go for a while."

With her prolonged silence, Storm swallowed, having more and more trouble keeping his nervousness under control. Maybe him being a king was asking too much of her. Maybe she didn't want to be with a fire demon all her life. Maybe he wasn't for her. When she finally spoke, he was overcome with relief. He smiled and laughed when she refused to hug him. He comforted her urge to hug him with another soft kiss, though. "Well, now that that's settled, you can do whatever you like to help with...this mess." He said, indicating his broken body and worrying about the scar he knew would remain there for his life.
Kiya shivered with fear at the sight of Aeroth again and being put on him. She held on tightly to his feathers, however, for fear of falling off. She seemed scared when Shadow asked her to pick a direction, her mind whirling. What could be the right answer?? What will he do if I choose wrong? He might push me off! Oh no! Panic flared in her as she looked down.

Shadow felt slight frustration at the deeply ingrained thoughts she had, but also at himself for lacking knowledge about how deep it ran. He sigh to himself and gave a soft smile. He gently set one hand on her left shoulder not to startle her, and whispered gently over the coursing air. "It's alright Kiya, whatever you want, whatever you choose, no one will say anything. It is your will now," He said, trying his best to soften her.
Crystal scowled at herself, trying to focus on his body and condition rather than on him, but her focus quickly became a big smile. She took two fingers and gently began to press against his skin, starting at his head, to his neck, chest, arms, legs and feet. She shuffled around while still smiling and looked at his wounded back, not even risking to touch it. "Well, I have bad news and worse news," she said, finding no other way to put it for Storm.
"The bad news, I can heal you with my power. The worse news, to do it right, will require you to be submerged to your neck in water like that one time," Crystal stated straight forward.
She assumed he would refuse, but left it open still, the choice to go on without him not really an option.
Espira sat up, now awake and the initial pain residing, and looked to Crystal and Storm, but didn't find Shadow and Kiya. "Where'd the other two go," She asked, interrupting them with no care, unaware of anything that had happened.

His whole body stiffened and he bit back a whine, swallowing it and closing his wide eyes. He forced a smirk with all his will. "Of course it is." He took a deep breath to settle his racing heart. "Well, the sooner the better, right?"
Kiya jumped at his touch and sniffled at his words, not beleiving them one bit. She pointed behind them. "There. I want to go there." They'd have to completely turn around.
Storm glanced over at Espira, then looked around their small camp. He frowned. "I'm not sure." He stretched his mind, searching for Shadow's to speak with him. He finally found it, a good way away. He hissed with disapproval as he found Kiya's mind with him. "Shadow, what are you doing?!" He yelled in fury, Kiya's fears screaming through his mind without her knowing he was there.

"Showing Kiya something. Don't worry, you know me enough to know I'm not going to hurt her," Shadow replied as he nodded to Aeroth.
Aeroth acknowledged the request, and with aerial tactics, wheeled them around and began in the direction she had pointed, picking up only slight speed with a heading now set. "Kiya, look. You pointed, and we are going just as you said. You are free to go anywhere, but you are free to stay as well. You are not a tool," He explained, trying to break the solid grip, but easing up as he felt the strain.
Crystal put on a confident front, letting him put trust in her, though worry lingered in her eyes for his sanity, knowing that he wasn't alright with it. "I'll make is as easy as I can," she said, but then thought of something. There was no water around that would be usable either. They would have to make a trip by Aeroth to reach anything around being too close to the castle still.

''of course.'' he spoke to crystal, then shadow heard his voice again. ''you are scaring her to death, shadow, bring the poor girl back down! Now!''
Kiya was crying at this point and pointed down to the ground as they passed over their makeshift camp. ''i want to go back, then!'' she cried, already having an attachment to storm without her knowing it.

Shadow rolled his eyes as they flew over. "Fine. you can have it."
He stood and picked her up again, the space to close for Aeroth to land, and lept from his back to the ground. Darkness spiraled around him and swirled as they rocketed toward the ground, and as they impacted, the blow was cushioned mostly by the thick mist of element gathered by Shadow, but he still bent low. He set Kiya back on her feet gently, then drew his twin daggers, a sharp look in his eyes, and launched up again in one smooth motion without a single word to anyone.
Shadow landed a distance off from the rest of them, though Aeroth remained wheeling over all of them. He landed in the tree tops with a flourish of his element, absorbing the great impact as he crashed into branches and swung from bough to bough until gracefully landing on the ground. He twirled the daggers in both hands deftly, enjoying the simple fact that he could, and began to wander around, taking in the nature and peace around him.

As soon as Kiya's feet touched the ground, she ran to Storm, jumping into his lap and falling against him as tears streamed down her face as she cried. Storm had to literally bite his tongue to keep from crying out from her weight on his broken body. He gently wrapped both of his arms around her, making sure to lay his hands open flat on her back. He had once been her and therefore, he knew exactly how to handle her. This showed he was not threatening, for he held nothing in his hands. He gently rubbed her back and held her close, again being sure to use her name. "Shh, Kiya. You're alright, now. Safe and sound on the ground." He wanted to rock her but he knew his body wouldn't allow that. He sighed as he noticed Shadow wasn't coming back to the camp anytime soon and he looked at Crystal. "I'm ready when you are."

Crystal cringed as well when Kiya lept upon Storm. She glanced around and looked to Espira. "Espira, I need your help. We need to find a large source of water. A river, pond, lake, or whatever we can find. Something. Can you go and scout around for that?" Crystal said seriously.
Espira scoffed slightly to herself. I don't need these people anymore, though I could use them for a while longer she thought to herself as she stood and gathered herself to help them.
She moved outwards from the camp site away from the castle they were still too near to. She searched for a fair distance at fast jog, covering at least a mile within ten minutes at her leisurely pace before hearing a sloshing sound. She pushed on for a while longer before coming upon a lake, spanning out of sight from where she stood. Shadow was idling a short distance from her, feet soaking on beach that he had found.

Back at camp, Crystal was tending to Storm, trying to find the best way to transport him whatever distance needed. After about twenty or thirty minutes, Espira came trotting back into camp. "There is a big lake about a mile and a quarter from here, but it's through the forest the whole way," She reported, not mentioning Shadow.

Storm kept his eyes narrowed on her, his own mind screaming with his distrust, especially with him in this condition. He had to prove he wasn't a weak target. He smirked at her information. "Well, there's no way I'm walking that." He pulled one hand away from Kiya and brought it to his lips. A shrill whistle erupted and, before long, the trees began moving wildly and the sound of a few of them breaking could be heard as the sky became dark and they were covered in shadow. The ground shook as Narasu landed, his growl vibrating around them as he saw Espira, then his eyes fell on Kiya, Crystal, and Storm. The large dragon smirked, already having known Storm was hurt because of their connection, but not knowing if it was safe for him to come out, in case he gave away their location. Storm's whistle told him it was ok. I see, little one, that you have adopted a little one of your own. Storm didn't meet his gaze. "I need you to carry me to where Espira found a lake." He said, pointing to the new girl. Narasu nodded and bent his head, ever so gently picking Storm up by the collar of his shirt, Storm wincing and holding on to Kiya, who squealed as they left the ground, not daring to bring her eyes and face up from Storm's chest. Storm laughed softly and let Narasu put him in his place on the large dragon, beckoning for Crystal to climb on. "Espira can lead the way."

Crystal was surprised, not that Narasu had come so suddenly to Storm's call, but that she had forgotten about him more so. She was pleased to see him, but his presence always made her feel uneasy. When beckoned, Crystal cautiously climbed up to sit behind Storm, wary of Narasu who she wasn't certain of. Espira cringed inwardly, but knew what had to be done. She let her albino wings tear from her back, radiating in a strange manner. "Just don't run me over," she said to Narasu and the others before crouching and launching her herself off the ground and above the canopy. She then took in the direction of the lake. she moved slowly at first waiting for them to take flight, but knew she'd not be able to keep up with the great dragon.
In the distance Aeroth was wheeling above the water, merely a small bird from Espira's point of view, but she knew it had to be him. Shadow, on the ground of the beach, stared longingly over the expanse of water, remembering long times past on his journey as Elemental Arcane. The great oceans of Aqueose. He was feeling lonely, but very content with his life. He called a blob of darkness to his hand and tossed it across the water, the ball skipping off into the distance.

Storm rode his dragon in silence. His own thoughts were whirling in his mind. His heart racing. I need to calm down. There's no way I'm going to let my fear get the best of me with so many people around. He hissed at himself inwardly. There's no way I'll be able to hold it off that well for that long. I wouldn't mind so much if only Espira wasn't around. I don't trust her. Narasu glanced back at him with a large eye as he followed Espira with such ease he let his wings relax every now and then. I am sure Shadow could take her somewhere for the time being. Storm jumped at the sound of Narasu's voice and the dragon gave him a questioning glance. Storm smiled apologetically. "Sorry. It's been a while since I've had you with me in my thoughts." The dragon smiled. That is a good idea, though. Do you think Shadow would do that for me?
Narasu nodded. I'm sure they all feel the same way that you do about Espira.

Within a very short time, the lake came into sight and Espira dropped altitude, going in for a landing. She smoothed down by the water, and the moment she had touched the ground, she pulled her wings back to hide in her body. "I'll regret this later," she said under her breath.
Shadow was still standing there when she touched down and said, "Do you see that out there?"
Espira gave him a look and turned to the horizon to stare like him. "What are you talking about? There's nothing but water and sky," she replied flatly.
"But there is more than just that. A path to somewhere else," Shadow said.
He knew this lake, an was quite surprised to find it so near to them. It's been a long time since either him or Crystal had been to this place.

Narasu followed Espira and landed just as close to the lake she she did, crushing trees as he did so, not wanting to make Storm have to walk very far at all to get to it. He then lowered his wing for Crystal and Kiya to easily slide off, not wanting to lift Kiya because he knew as well as Storm how to treat her. He had found Storm when he'd been on his own as a child, after all. This was nothing new to him. He looked back to the girl and smiled. Slide down, child. You never leave my wing or the ground. He reassured.
Storm smirked and brushed back a strand of Kiya's hair. "It's fun. It makes your tummy feel like it has butterflies in it."
Kiya looked at him, mystified. "Butterflies? In my tummy?"
Storm nodded. "They live there. Your very own butterflies. But slides make them dance so you can feel them. They tickle."
Kiya squealed with excitement and positioned herself at the edge of Narasu's shoulder, but then grew hesitant and doubtful. "I've never felt my butterflies before...."
Storm reassured her. "Because you've never gone down a slide before." With effort, he leaned down close to her ear. "I promise there are butterflies. And, if I'm lying, then when you reach the bottom, you can punish me for it, ok?"
Kiya's eyes went wide and she nodded. She closed her eyes and pushed herself. She began sliding down, going fast, not knowing how to control herself. But Narasu was not new to this. He tilted his wing ever so easily to keep her on it and her laughter came in squeals and she finally came to a stop on the ground, opening her eyes, jumping up to her feet and jumping up and down, excited, looking at Storm. "I did it! I found my butterflies! I have lots of them in my tummy!"
Storm laughed but it was a relieved laugh. She still has the feelings of a child. Thank goodness that was not lost. If they had taken that away from her... I would have gone back and made them all regret touching her. He looked back at Crystal. "I don't need to motivate you, do I?"
Narasu laughed softly and bent his neck, picking Storm up by his collar and setting him gently down on the ground by the water.

"It would be nice though," She replied smiling before she lept down Narasu's wing. At the bottom she pushed off and moved through the air to land cleanly on her feet. She walked over to Shadow and whispered something to him that no one else could hear. Then she moved back to Storm's side. "Give me a moment. Shadow is going to take her away from here. I didn't want anyone else around for this.
Shadow was talking to Espira about this far off place. "Just beyond the horizon is a path to somewhere else. A world that Arcane rule, Beings with limitless power. Would you like to see," He asked her.
Espira was reluctant, her own path and following irrelevant to his story, but Zakuro could be anywhere, and she had no heading yet. "Sure, but I'm not using my wings," She said. Shadow let a shrill whistle piece the sky and Aeroth swooped in, picking them up one in each foot. Espira panicked a brief moment before realizing what was happening and she let the panic subside uneasily. "To the gate old pal," Shadow said.
Aeroth felt a sense of elation in their destination, something he rarely felt through his solemness.
"Can you walk with my help to the water," Crystal asked once they had departed.

He smiled inwardly at her will to have the others off, as well. He forced himself to his feet, using all his strength and biting back all his pain, grabbing onto Crystal's shoulder for support. "I don't have much of a choice, do I?" He breathed out between his clenched teeth. He let her lead him to the water then looked down at it, disgust and fear showing in his eyes surrounded by the pain he felt. "Do as you must." He forced out.
Narasu looked down at Kiya and smiled. I will take her a short distance with me. I do not want her to hear your screams.
Storm winced. You need to learn to word things differently.
What do you mean?
For example, I'd rather have heard just the first sentence without the reminder in the next one.
Narasu smiled. Sorry. He picked up Kiya, who had taken a liking to the dragon, and flew a bit off, letting her climb him and slide down his wings as he relaxed in the sunlight with his senses alert.

Crystal pushed the water away from them as they walked out into the water until they were just far enough out to submerge the whole body. Crystal's eyes began to glow with their blue deepness as she sighed and let the water slowly creep back to his feet, then up his legs and further up his body. "Take a deep breath and hold it Sharder," Crystal said with a sudden seriousness, the tone in her voice changed. Just before the water engulfed them both Crystal gently kissed him and said, "I'm sorry, just endure it, and don't break eye contact with me," then the water took over their bodies, the surface perfectly still.
Crystal had her eyes open, both glowing with a surging, pulsing power, and the water around her also seemed to take life. It moved to Storm from her hands as she let them smooth over his body, soothing the pain as it began to heal. The power became more abundant until his whole body was encased in the glow, Crystal never moving more than a foot away.
The scar on his back, though it would not leave, healed more, dispersing the pain and the ugly red tissue reduced to be less obvious and meld back more. All the cut, gashes, lashes, scraps, bruises, and other flesh wounds healed up quickly, the water staining somewhat pink as it took away the pain and wounds away. Though soreness and fatigue would remain, the pain and wounds were now gone, and Crystal had worked her "magic". Now she stepped away from Storm and the glow faded from the water and she suddenly pushed it all away to release Storm from the "cage" she had him in to help.

Fear nagged at him as the water began rising up to cover him and, using all of his will power to stay and do as told, he took a deep breath as the water enveloped them. He heard her say not to break eye contact with her, and he knew it was to help him stay calmed, but just seeing the water, his own submerged state in it, it pushed his will power even more. He closed his eyes tightly, clenching his fists, yelling at himself to stay, even IF he could get away if he tried.
Not a second later that Crystal released him did he shoot out of the middle of that lake and put himself on the dry land where Narasu had lain. He was dripping wet, but it quickly evaporated from him, leaving him dry as ever, and his body shaking. Not from cold, but simply from the fear that had ensued him. He panted from holding his breath for so long and he kept his gaze on the ground until his heart and mind was able to calm down. He finally glanced up at Crystal, who still stood among the waters. "Thank you." His voice shook.
