Cisca cringe then curled herself into her wings, the power of her light enveloping her light a steel cage as the needle struck. They dispersed against her, but she could fee the pain still. She flung open her wings, blowing the immediate threat of fire from her. Her eyes flicked around and suddenly she felt something near her. A voice echoing in her head saying, "You will not fight. You will die for your suffering."
She was baffled by it and dropped the sword, the feeling compelling her to death. She fought with it but saw an end that she could not beat. "I won't give up!" She yelled to no one, seeming crazy.
She swooped down and grabbed her holy blade and touched to the floor. Her body began to shine brightly, and the fire that had covered the stone dissipated against her strength. She lashed out and waved of energy cut through the air from her blade at Sharder.
Crystal stared in horror at the wave of fire for a moment, unable to conjure up water from nothing without her Arcane power. Suddenly, her eyes began to glow as she gave in. Water began to pool from the floor and the walls to her, and before the fire hit her, it came to a barrier. The fire sizzled into the water and she stood unharmed facing X. She spoke no words and she went into action.
Her spear became a death weapon as she charged at him, the water forming a sort of armor. The spear tip began to pick into X, even as he dodged it she found him, her water slowly encroaching on him as well.
Shadow Stared her down and just as she reached to slaughter him, everything changed. His eyes lit up with the power of Arcane, and blackness swirled everywhere. When it vanished he was no longer there, but he stood behind her. He grabbed her hair and snatched her backwards to him. With a sweep of his legs, he knocked her into the air and grabbed her wrists before she fell, snapping them quickly in opposite directions and stealing back his twin daggers.
She hit the ground she Shadow leapt back, taking a stance with his daggers returned, reveling in the feeling as his fingers wrapped around the handles.
H scowled at Espira and said, "You still can't fight me. Mother was right..."
"Enough!," Espira screamed. A white light burned from her as anger mounted. "She is twisted and messed up since father went on his journey. N one killed him, and you all know it," she said, her last words dripping with sinister intent. She went at H again, this time with no hesitation in her step. Her fists found his chest with great force and he felt the air leave his lungs as the attacks plunged into him.
H jumped back, but found a kick to his head. He put up his arm in a guard, but the force pushed him into the cage. His vision blurred at the edged as he saw Espira walk at him. She grabbed H by the throat and hoisted him up against the cage. "You don't scare me Brother. I can handle my own, but violence is not the answer here. I am going to find father and prove to you everything I have said all along."
H struggled to breath as she choked the air from him before tossing him aside to the stone. She turned on Sharder and Cisca and watched their fight unfold.

Sharder's eyes grew wide as the wave came for him and he brought his arms up to block himself, bringing his wings in to encircle him, bringing fire up as a wall to shield him, using anything to block that wave. But it was no use as the light overpowered the fire shield and sliced through his wings to hit him full on, sending him flying back into the bars of their cage, the cold hard sound as his body hit it with such force. He couched up blood on impact, his eyes closed tightly in pain, not just because of the pain her wave brought to his front, but the pain the force and metal brought to his back. His whole body was screaming at him for his miscalculation as it slid to the ground from his height, his body crashing with the ground as it gained momentum, for he'd been near the top. He weakly got himself up to his hands and knees, his head ringing and his vision unfocused. With the burning from her earlier scar she gave him on his back, he had to fight to ignore all the pain, which he usually could do easily. You idiot. You didn't think this through. A demon fighting something holy. As if you could win such a fight! Sharder growled and cleared his mind of these things, saying to himself, Well, I can't change it now. All that's left is to win. With great will, he forced himself to his feet. His eyes went to Cisca as he fought back the blood he could taste in his throat. I must have punctured something. Shit. "Well, very good. I can't fly, now. So, we might as well continue on the ground."[/i] He made sure to keep his confident and easy-going attitude, knowing her weak mind might be the best way to beat her. She's already got the better hit in and half of my energy is going to Kiya. I need to end this fast or I'm not going to last to the end. His eyes seemed to glow and fires began rising up within their cage, dancing and moving as they pleased with no controller. Sharder smiled. "You see, Cisca, fire is a fickle thing. I control it, yes, but only at times. More than half the time I use fire, I'm not controlling it. It just does what it wants and it usually ends in my favor. I am not controlling these fires, Cisca. But I am protecting them from being put out. They will do as they please. They will meet and rise or they could dance in their spots. I don't know. But remember, a tamed fire is not as strong as one that is not tame. My tamed flames are stronger than any fire-wielder's I've seen. I dare you to let one of these touch you and see what happens." He laughed. "Hell, they might not even hurt you and be mad at me, instead, and go to kill me. Who knows? But I can't put them out, either. It's a trick I picked up. Or a curse, depending who they go for. So let's continue our battle, shall we? And be weary of where we step. Because once one tiny flame touches us, we are noticed by the fires, and it will do as it wishes." Sharder could feel his power slip away as he kept the flames protected, as well as Kiya. He swallowed, cringing at his blood he tasted. I have got to win this. But I don't even know how much longer I can stay conscious! He moved to stand in his crouch, but he immediately shot upright with a vile hiss, grabbing his side. That is way more than one broken rib.
X hissed, leaply left and right to avoid being touched by the water. "No wonder you two aren't mates! You probably hurt the son of a bitch everytime he wants to make a move!" He lept up, going over the water and going for Crystal, bringing his sword down on her right shoulder.
S lay, pushing herself into a sitting position with her hands unusable. She glared with hatred and tears in her eyes as she looked at Shadow. "I hope the darkness swallows your heart! That's how they all go, you know. Those who wield darkness and shadows. That's how I went. You should be wanting to see discord, not honor. You should be helping Cisca bring down Sharder." She glanced behind Shadow and smirked, giving a little laugh. "Nevermind. He'll be done for in her next two attacks. I guarentee it. And there isn't a damn thing you can do about it."
For fuck sake, I've got to get through this! Using all his will, he forced his body to move forward, feeling other fractures and breaks in his bones as he did so and swallowing the pain they gave him. This is ridiculous! One attack! Doing this to me?! Shadows always envelope light! His eyes widened in sudden realization. "Shadows always envelope light. That's it!" His eyes narrowed as he focused and he disappeared from her sight, reappearing in different places, but disappearing as soon as he was spotted, letting his voice echo with no origin. "Come and play with me, Cisca. Chase me, Cisca. I killed your husband, right? And you're just going to stand there while I run around free?" He felt his smirk touch his lips. Get her to move. Light may be faster than fire, but just one flame. Just one to touch her. And I win.

Cisca stared around her as Sharder moved, her head moving this way and that as she tried to focus on him. In the mean time, her head was rolling, voices talking to her that she couldn't control. Just kill him and avenge Zakuro
You must fall here and return anew
This wasn't...
Cisca closed her eyes tight to fight the voices, then opened her eyes and lashed out randomly with her holy attacks at Sharder's vanishing figure. "Stop talking to me! He kill Zakuro, him! The message said Sharder!"
She lashed out more, the power growing from fury and wrath until she suddenly stopped, things echoing in her mind. Note. The note. Message. Death. Sharder
Cisca slowly began to awaken from her wrath filled trance, dropping her blade which clattered to the stone and slide only to find one of the flames. Tears welled up in her eyes as she remembered the past, where Zakuro had gone, what had truly happened, and what was going on. She had to tell someone before it was too late, but she knew it was already too late.

Crystal was have awake fighting against the Arcane control and half not as X berated her. The blade tore into her shoulder and finally she broke control of the Arcane, retaining it's power temporarily. "Go to hell! We aren't mates because I haven't told him I love him!" She yelled all across the cages. She gritted her teeth together against the searing pain in her shoulder and fell back, then the water lashed out at X, tendrils reaching for him and ensnaring him quickly in the strange movement.
They wrapped around his body, stretching his arms and legs out and then froze him in that position. "You want to know what happens when fire and water meet?" she said and water formed at her spear tip for a dangerous attack. "Love happens!" Crystal yelled again as she trust in into his chest. The water expanded through his body and froze, spike piercing his flash and impaling him from the inside out. She pulled the spear out and left him like that a moment before letting the water melt and lay wasted on the stone along with the demon X and his blood.
Crystal ran to where she had last seen Kiya and looked around. "Kiya? Where are you?" she called out quietly.

Shadow pulled her face to his and let his white piercing eyes stare into her soul almost. "I will not be consumed by this darkness, because I do not wield it. I am the shadow," he whispered to her sending fear into her body. With a swift motion he slammed the hilt of one dagger into her skull, knocking her unconscious but still alive.
Espira, having defeated her brother, now met with Shadow Arcane and stared at him a moment, a chill running through her before she over came it. they now stared in silence as they did the only thing they could and watched Cisca and Sharder fight to the death, neither one mentioning what they had heard Crystal scream aloud.

Sharder's eyes flashed brightly as his flames found the sword and quickly swallowed it, following the length of it looking for its wielder. Sharder stood, but barely, his eyes glaring at Cisca. "I did not kill Zakuro. I did not kill your husband. I would not do that to a queen, for I know the connection a king or queen has. I would not put someone through that. But you gave me no choice. And now, you will die for your folly." The flames spread wildly and some landed on the bottom of her clothes, finding her, and began covering her body, deciding if they would take her life or spare it. His eyes narrowed in curiosity before the fire made up its mind. He did his best to glare at her, but his vision was going bad from the burning and pain he still felt from her cuts and his broken bones. "You said all shadows had light. Tell me, have you found my "light"? Or is it as nonexistent as I've warned you?" He smirked at his own fire's indecisiveness, walking toward her. "You are confusing my flames. What are you thinking about that makes them hesitate so? You better figure it out. If they don't kill you, I wi-" he cut off and froze, his eyes going wide and his body freezing in place. He felt it, the flames crawling up his leg. Shit! He rushed up and over his body, seeing if it would take him or not. He barely breathed as he felt its heat, his own vision barely able to see the dancing flames. Whenever he used this technique, the fire always set him free. But he used it on such rare occasions, he could never be sure if it changed his mind. He suppressed a shiver as the fire got warmer on his skin, preventing him from moving to Cisca to make the final attack and take her life while she was down. He swallowed and dared not move.
There was no reply to Crystal, but there was a soft sobbing that could be heard from a corner of the room, though it was far too dark for anyone to be able to see within it. However, this darkness seemed to shake and shiver, dwindling as Sharder's power dwindled. Before long, the hem of Kiya's dress could be seen as the darkness began receding and Sharder's consciousness began fading.
Sharder's attention snapped to Crystal as she yelled and gave her final blow, surprise showing on his face at her words and a soft blush touching his cheeks. Sensing this emotion, the flames receded and went back to the ground, moving for Cisca and leaving Sharder be. Sharder stood, clearing his throat, feeling his own blush and turning his head so his hair shadowed his eyes and hid his embarassment, hating the simple fact that he blushed at all, especially now. He let the darkness around Kiya fall and he pointed toward her. "She's over there, Crystal." He spoke to her softly using telepathy. He then forced his mind to focus and his near-blind eyes landed on Cisca. "If my fire doesn't kill you within the next five minutes, I'll do so myself." Ya, any longer than that and I'll be out cold. He hissed to himself.

Cisca felt the searing heat of the flames around her. Whether they would consume her and destroy her, or if Sharder would do it instead, she knew not, but had already given up her hope, or rather her reason to fight. She stood, weak and feeble now, and spoke quietly in a tone of voice that seemed sweeter than before. "I won't fight. I don't deserve to live right now. I will come back anew I'm sure," She said, then began trying to walk toward Sharder, a brighter light, less tainted than her fury, seeped from her as she tried to convey one last message.
She took each step further , pushing against the flames until she was only a few feet from Sharder, then she pointed to Crystal. "She is your light, and you are her darkness," She whispered only to him. "Don't let it go."
With that, she collapsed to the ground, letting the searing heat choose to take her or Sharder, either way. Espira. It's left to you. bring us back together Espira heard this voice, having never used telepathy, and felt confused, searching around her, but quickly focusing back on the battle, not wanting to miss anything.
Crystal found Kiya and grabbed her arm, pulling her gently, but firmly to her. Crystal brushed Kiya's hair back and smiled as she felt the Arcane power slipping back within her.

Sharder looked down at Cisca. "You were a great leader, Cisca, and I will be sure your last ruling years will be forgotten so only the best can be remembered. I will take your life swiftly, in honor for you. Perhaps I will see you again, Cisca." His eyes glew brightly in their crimson color and a long blade of fire came from his hand. He quickly sliced it through Cisca's heart and pulled it out swiftly, taking her life just as quickly. The bars of the two cages began to dissipate as the battle had been won and Sharder let his blade and the rest of his fires disappear, Sharder fleeing along with it all, leaving Storm to stand in the center of the room with Cisca's dead body at his feet, his own body returned to normal, though with his new wounds, including the scar on his back that would never heal. He could feel his heart racing in his chest and the burning and pain from his scar and broken bones that continued to echo within his mind and body. His vision was long gone, now, and he felt his mind growing dim. Before he could even make himself try to take a step forward, he felt his body falling backward without his control as his mind slipped into unconsciousness.

Crystal Ran to Storm's side, leaving Kiya with Shadow, who had returned to normal, and Espira, who had also relinquished her power back. Crystal Caught his body and a terrified and worried looked crossed her features. "It's alright, we won. You can rest now," she said gently to him, kissing his forehead before setting him down, her own shoulder screaming with pain.
They looked around them from the center of the room, and saw the blood bath that had played out. X dead beyond comprehension, S&S both wounded and passed out. Cisca pierced through the heart and dead. Espira and Shadow both worn, Crystal wounded, and Storm on the verge of possible death. E however, was nowhere to be found, having escaped somehow. "What now?" Shadow said aloud.
Espira stared at Cisca's body, still giving off it's shimmering light. "You've helped me to be free of here, even at the cost of my own blood," she stated, not turning to look at H.
"You can do whatever you please now. I will find my father, Zakuro the necromancer. I..." She stopped wondering if she was crazy, but continued, "I think Cisca wants me to find him and..." She trailed off unsure exactly what, but knew that far.
Crystal looked to Storm and said, "We'll all get out of here and then pick a course of action."
Shadow agreed, and they set for the roof hatch.
On the outside, the wind was gusting powerfully, and the sweet scent of nature touched their faces as each one crawled out. Shadow help pass Storm through the hatch, Crystal on the top to hoist him out, then Shadow pulled himself out last. Aeroth was already wheeling around above them, and he would take them free from the castle. They did their best to fit everyone, Crystal with storm on Aeroth's back, Shadow holding Kiya in one of his claws, and Espira behind Crystal. They escaped from the castle and, despite the guard everywhere, no one was the wiser.

That night, they had landed only a few miles away, still dangerous territory, but safe for now. They risked a fire, and all crowded around it, Shadow half awake half asleep, watching over everything. Kiya Apart from everyone. Crystal dozed next to Storm while watching him. Espira sleeping gently, and Aeroth Nestled near by in the darkness. For the first time, this seemed to be peaceful.

The night passed over them and finally, as the moon began to sink from the sky, Storm seemed to be trying to wake up. A soft whimper came from him and he was soon able to force his eyes open. His mind slowly gathered and he became relieved when he noticed he was able to see well again. He glanced around, seeing everyone asleep by now, except for Kiya, who still sat a little way off on her own. He swallowed, bracing himself for the pain he knew would come. He used all his strength to force himself into a sitting position, biting back a cry of pain so as not to wake the others. He immediately regretted moving, but it was too late now as his body screamed in agony. He bit his tongue in silence and looked to Crystal who lay at his side. He noticed the blood in her clothes from the wound on her shoulder and he studied it for a bit. I could take care of that. He watched her face and cautiously, and painfully, held himself over her and moved his lips to her wound. He ever-so-gently bit, letting his fangs reopen the wound, allowing the slightest amount of his venom to enter into it.

Instinctively Crystal's body jerked, an unknown substance trying to enter her water laden blood. She tried to get up, but felt her body weighted down in exhaustion. Instead, she pulled her eyes open to see Storm. She force a whisper past her soar vocal cords to Storm. "What are you doing?"
Her hair fell down into her face messily, obscuring her vision in one eye, but she didn't bother with it as she also glanced through sleepy eyes at the rest of their motley crew of different beings, most of which resting near the dull embers of the fire that had been keeping them warm.

He glanced at her, his eyes gentle but showing the intense pain he was in. He gave a soft smile. "My venom does more than kill. I gave you enough to fight off infection, which, with that job out of the way, your wound should be healed by this time in two days. I'm sorry to have awaken you." He pushed himself into a sitting position, gasping from his ribs. He then forced his body to stay like that and he glanced at Kiya, worry for the girl in his face.

Crystal smiled as she thought to thank him, but then stopped herself, feeling bad that she couldn't heal him with her power because of his hatred for healers. She thought of going back to sleep, but the sight of the sun trying to break the darkness made her chose other wise. She knew it would be harder to get up later than if she just stayed awake now
She planted her hand to the ground to sit up and winced at her pain, then changed to use her other arm. Once propped up she whispered to him again. "When the others wake up we will have set a course. Espira is going to find Zakuro. We just need to escape. What do you think we should do?"
Crystal had been thinking of her own objective since her incident with Storm that helped to bring back his fire. She didn't like not having control, and had decided to tame the Arcane no matter where they go.

Storm looked at her shrugged. "I'd assume my thoughts on the new course are irrelevant. There is no way I could travel, with as much regret I have to say it. I'd do good to walk right now. You all will probably be going without me, dear." He gently stroked her hair and finally called for Kiya. Kiya came to him obediently and kneeled before him. He placed a hand on her shoulder. "Do not kneel to me, Kiya. Tell me, are you hungry?"
The girl seemed hesitant, then nodded.
Storm smiled to her. "Give me a moment and I will find you something to eat, okay?"

Crystal frowned and said, "Then we won't go anywhere until you are better."
Shadow stirred with the sounds of their voices and pulled himself back to life. His hands checked for his daggers slyly and then he let a heavy breath out, feeling some security. Rather than sit up, he rolled onto his side and looked around him, past the others more and to the surroundings. He didn't speak at all, just observed them and listened. "Should I go try to find something to eat?" Crystal asked Storm, knowing well that he was incapable of doing it himself, and wanting less for him to try it.
Espira was dead to the world, curled up across the dead fire from Crystal, Storm, and Kiya, and below Shadow. She was dreaming peacefully it seemed, images of her family together passing to her.

He looked at her, his eyes hard. "You know I wouldn't ask you all to stay here for just me. You need to be moving on. The faster you leave to look for Zakuro, the better, as I assume that's what will be done. I'd much rather grit my teeth and bear a healer than sit knowing I'm the reason we aren't moving." Curiosity rose in his eyes as Crystal offered her assistance. "Sure. But first, I have a question. About something I recall you saying back at that place with the queen."

Crystal was only half listening to him she she thought about what would be scampering about here and also what they should do and go. "Huh? What's that?" She said trying to snap back to him.
Shadow stretched on the ground, feeling his soreness wearing in his muscles as they pulled. He used his elbows to prop himself up, then got to his knees, and finally on his feet, feeling his weight more than normal. Shadow glance at where Aeroth had been and found the phoenix already taken flight into the morning. The sun was now breaking through, casting gentle, but growing light against the forest.

Storm rolled his eyes. He smiled to Kiya. "Why don't you go see how Shadow is doing, hm?" Kiya nodded, rising and going over to Shadow, sitting beside him with wide eyes staring at him.
Storm bit back the pain as he forced his body up and he easily pinned the distracted Crystal, using all his strength to hold himself on top of her and keep his weight off of her. "I will give you some choices. Choice A, you do as I have hinted at giving you permission to do, which you ignored. Choice B, we discuss what I am curious about, which you ignored. Or, choice C, both A and B. Which is it, dear?"

Shadow looked at Kiya, his dark eyes finding hers, wide and attentive. He stared for a moment back at her until he felt a slight unease toward her awkwardness. "You know you don't have to be like that right? You aren't property anymore," He said not expecting her to understand. He leaned away slightly, trying to keep a distance from her stare, but trying to open her up a bit more.
Crystal was taken aback at his sudden assertiveness. "What? Uh...Choice C?" She replied baffled.
She wasn't sure what was just said, but she feared she missed something very important and tried to hid it as best she could.

A scowl crossed his face. "You know I was just aiming for you to go with B. B is what I wanted." He sighed and got off of her, forcing his body into a sitting position again. "You know some healing techniques, right? Choice A was I had given you permission to try taking care of my wrecked body so as I don't keep you all from traveling." He met her gaze. "You chose it. So you do as you deem fit to do. I'll do my best to keep myself from... doing anything, really, I guess. Choice B, though." He smiled. "Choice A puts me on the spot. Choice B does not. Which do you want to do first, since you've chosen to do both? To help with your decision, choice B includes you talking to me about what you said during the fight about me."
Kiya looked around, then looked back at Shadow, pointing to herself. "Me?" She shook her head vigorously. "No, no, no. I will never not be property. I was made to be used. That's what I was taught." Tears came to her eyes. "So why doesn't my new owner not use me, yet? I am scared he has plans, bad plans, to take this long."

Shadow stared seriously at Kiya a moment, blinking several times in concentration, then he broke, unable to hold his face to her. "Hahahaha! Oh wow."
He laughed more before he spoke again between breaths. "Yeah, I guess if you believe you are a tool to be used what he has planned it terrible," he said, but felt he might be stepping to a bad place with her serious trauma.
He cleared his throat and caught his breath then tried to explain what he meant. "What I'm saying is, you aren't a tool or a possession anymore. You may think you are owned, but he, Storm, He isn't that kind of man. He wants you to be free, so he isn't going to use you, ever."
Shadow hoped he was getting through to her but then had an idea. "Should I show more?"
Crystal blushed suddenly, red flushing to her face. She turned away from Storm, covering her face in her hands and talking embarrassed through them. "You-You heard that?! I'm sorry! I didn't, I mean...I..." She jumbled her words in frustration, but didn't move away.
Clearly she chose B, but was too flustered to form words or clear thoughts.
As the sun finally shone through the sky, the orange tinting the earth and turning yellow as the day began, Espira began stirring into wakefulness, clearly not accustomed to mornings despite always waking up early.

A few tears fell as Shadow laughed at her, both from humiliation and from fear, not knowing sarcasm. She then looked at him, confused, hearing the words Shadow spoke but not knowing why Storm would not use her, having known nothing else her whole short life. When he offered to show her more, she hesitated, but looked at him and nodded, shaking slightly, fearful she should not have come to Shadow for fear he may use her instead.
Storm bit back a laugh and gently grabbed one of her wrists, pulling her hand away from her face, looking at her until he was able to be serious. "Please don't say you didn't mean it. I've loved a lot of people and never got any kind of love back. The kind of abuse I've gotten from those I wanted so badly to care for me has kept me from speaking up first. Crystal, I've learned not to love. But I've finally found someone I couldn't tell myself "not to love". And it would break my heart if I heard her say she loved me back only to take it away from me again. Please don't take it back." He lifted her chin with a finger and leaned in, gently kissing her lips, though leaving her the ability to reject him.
