Crystal looked slightly worried at him, but dispelled it as they waited. A good time had passed, leaving the sun starting to drop from the highest point in the sky from mid-day. Crystal was now worried that Shadow had taken so long and she had long pulled herself from the stream. "Alright, he's been gone far to long. We should go look for him," She said pacing slightly. She stopped and looked at him to see his response. Shadow awoke from his pain induced sleep, pain surging through his head with each heart beat. There was faint light emitting from somewhere, but he kept his eyes slightly cracked to hide his wakefulness, hearing voice near by. He couldn't pick out any distinctive words or voices, but felt a slight cool draft from somewhere, and the flickering of the light said it was a fire light. He was a prisoner now. |

His eyes seemed droopy but he nodded and came to Crystal's side with a small bow, indicating her first. "By all means, lead the way." |

"You can rest here a while if you need to. I will be fine looking alone, and I can get you should I find anything," She said. Crystal was aware that he never truly rested and didn't want to take that away from him, and though she didn't say it, her eyes wrote books about it. Shadow remained quiet as he wriggled slightly, trying out the bonds of rope around his body, feet, and wrists, which were tight and cutting into his skin. His daggers, and bag of dimensions had been taken, leaving his unarmed, save for the small knife they missed strapped between his shoulder blades. The voices had subsided for now, but he could see an occasional shadow pass by from the small slit from the bottom of the door. The room he was in was dank and lit by a weak lantern overhead. The whole place was made of metals and impossible to escape in his position, though he would rather stay here and figure out what was taken place. |

He shook his head with a yawn. "No, no, it's fine." He gave a reassuring smile at her gaze. "I'll have a good rest once we get our group back together and get settled down in a camp. I promise." |

She took lead and called over her shoulder, "You'd better." She had gone in the general direction of Shadow's departure, but found it impossible to track him from his lack of signs, until she came upon her trail. On the ground was a tear of canvas from an unknown source, but more importantly, there was black, wing webbing cut from some creature, and blood that surrounded it. The blood lead on through the forest in one direction and she said, "The best things we've got. Guess we'll follow it." She was conflicted, unsure whether to hope it was him they found, or hope it wasn't him. She stooped a moment and examined the mess, then looked to Sharder and said, "Do you know what this could be?" Shadow had done all he could to gain ground in his small cell, and the most he could do was to peek through the small keyhole, but that told him all he needed to know. Demons. He slouched back in the cell and rested his head, the bump from being hit still sensitive. They had two guards and some form of magic on the cell, preventing his element from reaching past the confines. He had already used the black tendrils to free the bonds on him and retrieve the small knife, but had yet to form an idea of escape. He had time though; they wouldn't come for him anytime soon. |

Storm glanced at her, having stayed back a little ways. He sighed when she asked the question. "I don't think it's the best thing to have me anywhere near blood." He spoke but he still came forward and examined the blood along her side, his eyebrows going up and his eyes holding confusion. "It's from a demon." He examined his surroundings, next. "It looks like there was a group of them. But one must have got out of line, because he was attacked by the others. Obviously. But he didn't fight back, since all this is his, meaning he was of a lower rank in the group. Meaning there must be a leader within them, if there are ranks. Which means they aren't just wild demons, they are from some kind of organization." He looked at her. "If Shadow was in their path, I'm not sure he got out of it unscathed. He might be hurt somewhere." |

She looked closer at the flawless cut in the webbing, but said nothing of her thoughts. "I know..." Crystal started as she stood looking along the path, but stopped her words before mentioning his craving. "It's probably him, though he might not want to escape if he hasn't yet," She speculated, knowing of the travel through the void, but only knowing it was possible. "Well, it's the best direction we have either way, so let's take it," She said setting course along the trail of blood, which as they moved along, slowly began to thin. Shadow placed his hand against the cool metal and closed his eyes, feeling the ebb and flow of the darkness and shadows around, and the tug of the void within the fabrics of the element. Guess it's better than plowing on aimlessly. Hopefully Storm has something for us here Shadow thought to himself, hoping he wouldn't regret the thoughts. He was well aware of different demon factions, only hoped these would be the people Sharder was allied with. |

He swallowed easily as they walked on, figuring he should mention something to ease Crystal's mind. "You know, a demon does not lust for demonic blood. That is how I know what it is. I'm fine, so if you're worrying, there's no need. And if you're not, well, I wouldn't believe you." He gave a soft smile then glanced ahead, hoping they came across some evidence of Shadow being this way. |

Crystal gave lopsided smile at him and said, "I was worrying, and I don't believe you either, but I know how you feel about it. I don't want to make you uncomfortable." She paused mid-sentence as a flight of arrows whizzed by from a nearby trap and buried deep in to the trunk of a tree just beside her. She stumbled back into Sharder and fumbled to grab at her spear before realizing it was merely a trap this time. |

(I want you to know how angry I am. Not only that I've had a rotten day, but that I worked hard on a post for this and my computer glitched out AS ALWAYS and did not post it.) "As long as it remains demon blood we find, I'll be ok. It is the other bloods we need to watch out for." His head jerked up at the sound of the arrows being released and heading for them. He immediately drew his knife and was able to catch Crystal in time as she fell into him, easily tossing her back up onto her feet without missing a beat. He surveyed the surroundings, noting with anger that it was only a set trap and no one around to take the blame for it. He sheathed his knife and glanced at the only wound he'd received, a scratch on his upper right arm. It was nothing more than a scratch, but he hissed as it didn't bleed. Poison. He knew how to work with poisons and he knew very well that a lot of them locked themselves within the skin by preventing blood loss from the wound they enter. However, he had only been skimmed by an arrow, not directly hit, meaning there was a simple fix to this. He redrew his knife and slashed it across the cut, mimicking the wound the arrow had left, letting his blood flow. He was reassured that he was right as the blood that flowed from him was a tainted color. Once this color disappeared to be overtaken by the pure color of blood, he knew the poison was out and he ripped off a sliver from his shirt and tied it tightly around the wound he'd made deeper, but for a good cause. Once he replaced his knife once more, he looked up at Crystal. "It seems we are expected." His voice was dark and he looked in the direction they were to be heading. |

Crystal watched him perform this with worry on her face, but when he spoke, she snapped back to reality, pushing aside feelings and putting on a serious composure. "Seems like it. The trail goes off that way it seems, though I suspect it will be laced with more of these," She said pulling on one of the poison barbs. She examined the tip, then buried the tip in the soil. "We'll have be more careful from here on out," She said with a bit of chill to her voice. She began forward again, taking a sweeping around the trail and her sharp eye careful of anything off setting. The smell of smoke and sulfur drifted down as they pressed forward, and it became quickly apparent there was man made structure looming quickly from the forest as the larger trees grew sparse and the underbrush was all that remained. |

Storm followed loyally at her side, keeping his guard up and his eyes open to all of their surroundings, stepping over trips and other traps that were hidden but not well enough. His eyes went to the building looming ahead of them and he smirked. "I'm not sure if I should feel glad or insulted that they are not taking good care to hide anything at all." |

Crystal shrugged slightly saying in hushed tone, "Makes our job that much easier. I just know Shadow was dragged in there, but I don't know near as much about demons as you do. What do you think we should do." She squatted at the fringe of the foliage, keeping hidden from any scouts upon the walls or odd passerby. She held her hand out and liquid crystal pooled from her hand and formed to a mold of her spear, then she gripped it and from subspace her weapon solidified. |

He surveyed their goal and their obstacles, his mind spinning with the intelligence he never showed, for reasons only he knew. "There are obviously too many to start a fight with and then more would come once they heard the commotion. So straight forward and taking them down is out of the question. Meaning we have to find a way to use their numbers to our advantage." He glanced at Crystal, looking her up and down, his eyes glinting mischeviously. "And I think I know how. There are too many of them for they themselves to know each other by name and face. And I'm a demon. Easy. But I have to have a purpose for being there. I don't want to be interrogated because I have no idea what this institution is for, but I can almost guarentee that if I brought them a young girl, fully bloomed, as a prisoner, there would be no questioning the reasons at all, nor much halting me at the gates with you." His smile was evil and his eyes only saw her as a tool, as his mind whirled away and he forgot his current position in his life. He seemed to catch himself, though, and his eyes retracted to her eyes with a blush of high embarrassment. "Uhm, I'm sorry. It is a good plan, though. All that's down there are guys. And I wouldn't let them touch you. I'm your friend, of course I'd protect you from them while you were tied." He seemed to be saying this more to himself than to her. He cleared his throat and shook his head. "Look, this is the best plan we have and you're in no danger at all. Demons get aggressive but only after the capture has had the captured to themselves first, which isn't happening, therefore you're safe and we get easy entry with no fights. Any arguements?" |

Crystal had no objections to the idea as she had none and he knew more than she did. Though she could hold her own against any form of harassment, she felt eased that Sharder would be there for her still. "Alright then. Seems the best shot we've got." With a surge of liquid energy, she replaced her spear from existence in subspace and looked at him. Her eyes were pooling and deep in their rich blue color that seemed to ebb all around and sooth and she said, "I trust you to take care of me. Just don't do anything stupid." This last part was said in slight humor to lighten the tension on him. Shadow felt the time start to meld together in a blur as he had no point of reference for time. He had been thinking of how to work the situation when a metal clink sounded against the door and a click as the tumblers slide into place and the door unlocked, swinging inwardly. He quickly faked the bonds of rope, attaching them with his own element and watched who entered. A woman with faded crimson eyes stood in the door way, a blade at her hip and beautiful hair flowing dark down to her lower back. In a very seductive yet commanding voice, she spoke to Shadow. "So this is the one. Come with me." With that, she turned and walked away, leading Shadow through the catacomb of a castle, which he could now see in detail. Old stone walls, faded but impenetrable and lit by oil lamps. After a short trip or turns, she lead him into another small room, not to off from his cell, only guards stood inside and outside of the room and a table of metal sat in the center, metal chair either side of it. Shadow was lead in and had the bonds of rope sliced from him, which hid his prior escape, and he was sat in one chair, metal bonds replacing the rope and holding him onto the bolted down chair. The woman took a seat and gestured for the guards to leave, locking the door behind them from the outside, trapping both in the room. Shadow glanced easily at her with his sharp, dark grey eyes, letting every inch of her face sink in. She was a powerful demon indeed. |

Storm nodded and ripped some of his shirt from the bottom, gently turning her around and tying her wrists together. "I wish I had my powers about now, to make this look more like rope. At least it's muddy. That'll help a bit." He jerked them tight, then apologized for how tight he made them. He then m just slightly and messed his clothes, making him look much more unkept than he ever let himself be. He didn't want the other demons thinking he wasn't from there and instead was from somewhere where he could actually care about how he looked, a.k.a. around humans to hide his nonhuman elements. He then took Crystal by the upper arm. "Here we go. Just play along with me." He led her down the slope to the building and he walked like he had an air of confidence about him, leading Crystal by jerks if she didn't follow fast enough, but never taking away the support he gave her so she would never fall. He didn't want her to be too at ease. Demons were very observant in their lusts. They came up to the gate doors and guards and Storm's mind whirled, but he didn't show it. He walked past the first few guards without even pausing to look at them, his pace quick. It didn't take long for that pace to end as guards gathered around them, not taking them long to find out what the girl was for. They all gathered around Crystal, admiring her, looking her up and down, some having the courage to touch whatever they wanted. They all laughed as one lifted up her shirt for all to see. At each demon that bothered pestering Crystal, Storm released a hiss mixed with a growl, each time going more into a fighting stance. A few other demons decided to pick that up, too, and it seemed a fight was about to ensue. Once Storm stated his dominance like this, however, no other demon came up in hopes of getting his hands on Crystal. Every one of them stayed back. Finally, one stopped him from doing something rash. "Hey! Where do you think you're going?!" A guard ran up, looking at Storm curiously, trying to place him, wondering why he would be walking with such a pace for the doors. Storm's eyes went solid ice on the man as he looked at him. He jerked Crystal forward to show her to the man. He was glad her hair was a mess from the previous rough-walk he'd made her take to get to these doors. Much more believable. "Where does it look like I'm going?!" He hissed. "You don't find one of these every day, ya know!" The demon eyed him suspiciously. "There are plenty of females here." Storm smiled wickedly. "They all get boring once you've had them for so long." The other demon broke his seriousness and laughed. "A whore, are you? Well, I guess I shouldn't be the one to keep you from your hobbies." His eyes narrowed once more, then. "I will need to taste both of your bloods, however. There have been attempts of fraud here, before, and I'm not letting that happen." He held out his hand, waiting. Storm rolled his eyes and held out his arm, wrist up. "You think they'd make faster ways of doing this." He hissed, seeming impatient to get a room. The demon nodded. "Maybe one day they'll figure out that changes can be good." He took the wrist and bit, Storm wincing harshly, taken by surprise. He prided himself in his bites being practically undetectable to his prey, yet this demon obviously did not. The demon rose. "Fine. It seems tainted, or lacking something, but it is demon blood, like ours. Now for the girl's." Storm cursed himself inwardly. So much was told with blood. Even arousal was told with blood and he knew he lacked that. If only I had my damn powers. This could be over with. Just a simple illusion on him would work. There's no way he's going to let someone with Crystal's powers in here. Think, damnit! He pulled Crystal away from the demon with a wicked smile. "I told you she's not demon. I am bored of those. And I'm terribly sorry, but I would like to have the first drink. But, comrade, once I am done with her and she is put up for a free-for-all here, I will make sure you are the one who gets her first, and whatever blood I leave. Deal?" The other demon glanced at him for a moment, then nodded, his eyes burning with anticipation. "Deal." Storm smiled to himself. Ah, the simplicities of the demon mind. The demon motioned for the gates to be opened and Storm led Crystal inside, then paused and looked back at the demon. "You have a room I could borrow? A friend of mine is staying in mine and I don't want to share her on my first go." The demon laughed and threw a pair of keys with a number on them. "Clean up when you're done!" "Aye." He walked into the building and put the keys in his pocket after reading the number 137. He lightened his grip on Crystal, noticing a bruise where his hand had been. "I'm so sorry." He commented, indicating the bruise. "Here, let's find the room and get you a little cleaned up. It'll look suspicious if we don't go there right away, anyway. And, Crystal, I really am sorry about what happened to you out there." He looked around, not making eye contact with her. Each hallway leading away from the big lobby they seemed to be standing in was marked by room numbers. He ever-so-gently led her down one, saying 130-150. They found the room and he put in the key, letting Crystal go in first then locking the door behind them. It was a very small but decent room, the bed the biggest thing in there. He put the key in his pocket and undid Crystal's bounds. |

Crystal rubbed at her wrists slightly, a distant memory trying to surface that she put aside. She looked at the cleaned stone walls and sat on the bed, smoothing out her hair and clothes as if nothing had even happened. "Well that was easier than I thought it'd be. I was sure we were done when they wanted to try my blood. They'd have know in an instant from my element," She said calmly as her skirted the room in detail. Crystal after situating herself teased Storm quoting, "'I want to be the first with her'. How very flattering." She pulled a more serious approach and her eyes seemed to reflect that by growing slightly cold. "Now we have to find out where Shadow is. I can't really do much in this place without being caught, so what do you think we should do?" She knew they would catch her should they see her walking around, and she wasn't stealthy like Shadow or Sharder, so the most she could do was act as a decoy as before, or so she thought. Behind the doors Shadow sat with Cisca, the queen of this faction of demons. "So Shadow. You are a powerful being are you not? But I'm sure you won't attack me in a place like this. You are the killing type are you?" Shadow gave no response, only stared coldly at her. "I see. Well, it's best I do the talking. You see, you have invaded my territory. You are neither demon nor human, and thus have a neutral status among the races. Tales of you have spread through out the world, as well as the demon king Storm." At this Shadow raised an eye brow at her to confirm his interest now. To add he said, "I suppose you think I can help you win his territory with his trust for me." Cisca smiled a wicked smile and continued on as she smoothed out her well kept clothes. "Something like that. If you help me with this, I can grant you anything you could want. With the power I would posses, I could do anything." Shadow smiled back at his own part and replied with ease, "He has no trust for anyone. Nothing I could say would help you." Though saying this, he knew from Sharder that demons were always one step ahead and anticipated her next statement. "Fair enough. When he comes for you then, I'll simply kill him then. He won't be able to fight me in my own place. I'll win one way or another." She closed off any further conversation by rising from her own seat and passing to the door. She stopped as a black tendril rose from her own shadow and wrapped around her, quickly followed by others. They began to squeeze and choke her, gurgling sounds coming from her throat as she felt fear rise at her suddenly helplessness. The doors suddenly flung open and guards rushed in, wrenching her from the ensnarement and clubbing Shadow roughly in the side, causing him to release her. Through his own pain he said, "Yes, I am a powerful being." Cisca coughed and sputtered as she left the room, the faint sound of commands being barked out from her as she left quickly down the halls. Shadow was again bound and a rough sack forced over his head before he was clubbed against in the head, knocking his unconscious again and being carried back to his magic sealed cell. |

Storm glared at her as she mimicked him. "Demons don't attack other demons when they're that territorial over one being. It's not worth not waiting for them. Shut up. I said what I had to." He smirked at her eagerness to get Shadow back. "You miss him dearly, do you? Well, rushing is not going to do us any good. We have no idea how this place runs and sometimes, learning your enviroment is much wiser than playing with the deck of cards you walked in with. Trading for aces is always good." He smiled at his own allusion to poker. He'd won that many a time. "And you're not as useless as you think. I am utterly powerless in an area than demands my power. However, at different times when I've done different things seemingly through trust, I feel my old warmth of fire. But I cannot hold it for long. Is there something you know that I don't?" He glanced at her wrist. He walked over to her, taking her hand gently, studying the veins protruding slightly from the wrist. "Could it be possible that that is all I'm lacking?" His eyes rose to hers. "If I'm right, then I know a critical secret. Crystal, would you be so kind as to try to attack me? Try to kill me?" His mind was not slow. He had picked up on the subtle hints. Trust? Was that what he needed? He could win a second chance? He was helpless right now. Crystal was far over him right now. If she attacked and made to kill him, and he trusted her so much that he forced himself not to fight back, trusting her not to make that final blow, could he gain everything back? But could he put himself into that much trust?... His knife glinted in the low light as he drew it, fiercly scarring it over Crystal's upper arm, making a deep gash as he flipped the knife in his hand, making a move to bring it straight down for her leg. |

Crystal was stricken by his sudden question, but when he attacked her, she immediately leapt back from him, her blood rushing from her arm where he had slashed her. As it hit the floor it ran like water, thinner than any normal blood. It was suddenly whipped from the ground and to come floating around her in dangerous spheres. When the blade came down for her leg, the blood moved and shielded her from harm. She stepped back to find the wall in her way and the only option that of fighting. She closed her eyes in fear a moment, but when she opened them against a glow simmered in the depths of her abyssal blue eyes. Water began to pool from nothing around her feet and form a guard around her body. With a swipe of her arm, the blood solidified into red spikes and they shot in uniform to pin Sharder to the stone walls. "Struggle all you want, my blood is the most powerful of all liquids, and frozen, indestructible," She said, her voice radiating through the pure water around them as she walked slowly forward. The water pulsed and wrapped around her, crawling wickedly at Sharder and three feet away, Crystal stopped, the sinister tendrils forming points like spears and freezing at this throat, but the attack never touched him as Crystal stood there, fighting the Acane instinct that had control unlike Shadow who had mastered his. |

Storm knew he could tear his clothes away from the spikes. He knew he duck under the spike at his throat, though with scratches to endure. He knew he could get an open attack to her this way. But that would not gain him anything. That would be a move he would always play. This time, his goal was to be different. To trust. He swallowed. He was never good at this. And he never wanted to have to trust anyone. So I just stay here and let her end my life, because that sounds so intelligent. No. You stay here and trust her not to harm you. That's the point. Trust is the most important thing in this world and that is why I may not have my powers or throne without it. If I'm not strong enough to wield trust, I'm not strong enough to wield anything else. That's my lesson he wants me to learn. He opened his eyes he'd closed so tightly, holding his breath, feeling the overwhelming fear in him but knowing he could not act upon it lest his lesson be lost. He swallowed again. "I'm s-sorry. I just wanted to see something...." He murmured, the fear in his shaking voice. |
