my wife and i just returned from a trip to cozumel on the 19th of may, we own a condo on the north end and travel to the island about every 6 weeks, on this trip we were shocked to see grafitti on multiple buildings, i don't remember it being there on any of our previous trips, hopefully this issue is being address or the island will soon be just like the mainland

is anyone aware of steps being taken to address this problem or are we overreacting?

I read somewhere, Por Esto, etc., that the City is aware of the issue and DIF is trying to educate island youth, yada yada.

I think it's really tough especially when privately owned structures are tagged, then it's the owners decision as to clean/repaint or not.

I know that several structures in my dog walking route have chosen not to clean and it makes a huge difference. I'll keep my eyes open for more stories on this for you!

I don't think it is any worse, it comes and goes. I think some places that already have paintings of Guadalupe are spared. I have seen groups of college students painting all together, but that is quite different. It is allowed to stand for a time and then painted over.
