Since I am not allowed to express my opinions on an old Cozumel forum any longer....I have spent extra time lately reading through recent and past topics on this forum. I enjoyed reading questions and comments here that didn't turn into P*ssing matches and arguments about "who knows more" or condescending retoric aimed at saying- "your opinion sucks because you don't live on the island". This forum doesn't seem to have any snide remarks, underlying insults or hidden agendas in any of the comments, that I could see. Well....until this post, I guess. I apologize, in advance, for possibly being the first..... It seems, IMO....as though this site was named "Cozumel for YOU" as a way to welcome ALL Coz loving members to share what THEY like about Cozumel without personal agendas getting in the way. Nice concept! Maybe it should be called- CozumelOurCozumel? Anyway, I don't miss reading the "other" site. It is, IMO...getting REALLY OLD anyway. I think it's time for a new generation of Cozumel lovers to give Cozumel forums a "face-lift", so to speak. A new forum where an "opinion" doesn't get discredited by forum moderator(s). A forum where you can be corrected if you dont have the facts straight, but that your personal opinion still counts. I hope that more Coz travelers find this website regardless if they are first-time, once a year, twice a year.....or long-time visitors to the island. Spread the word that there is a NEW forum in town. BCOZ P.S.- IMO, I enjoy Otates! |

Welcome to the board BCOZ. I agree with so much you have written. This is a great forum and can be a great avenue for sharing information, ideas, opinions. I also very much enjoy the weekly newsletters. Laura is to be commended for helping promote the small local business man. If you have not already, subscribe to the weekly newsletter. I like Otates, and have no idea why there has been so much negativity directed to one taco shack on this island. There are many great taquerias on this island, but we all do have the right to have our favorites and share where our favorite spots are. I don't think you will find anybody condemning you for posting such things here. I love the big jolly cook at Otates, full of smiles and already making my order as soon as he sees my car. Andrea |

Welcome to the parade, peeps! Glad to have you all, and I look forward to having fun and learning new stuff about Cozumel too!! I've lived here for 12 years, and am still on a learning curve. I learned about the hydrophonic tomatos from someone who doesn't even live here full time, so i think geographical location is not so important. What's important is, Cozumel is a great place, has alot going for it, safe, and, of course fun!! |

Adding my $.02 worth. I find that I just can't read the other forums without feeling negative and frustrated. So I rarely even look at the others. I have found just about everything I need to know here. Thanks to Laura and Karen for keeping us up with the pulse of the island in a most positive way. But that doesn't mean you are not looking at the difficult issues of the island either. Thank you, Laura for the including of the passionate story of the dump dogs and persons in the web letter. Very moving story written in a careful way (thanks Monica). |

Hello everyone, I have just joined too. I know what you mean about the "other" forum. I read it and feel I should get in the shower after. I still read the TA forum (where I am BeCoz, not to be confused with BCOZ) but this is definitely going to be a place to visit. Thanks to all of you, and thank you for the weekly newsletter which I really enjoy and look forward to. It's the best source of interesting information about the island I have found. Maria |
