That couldent possibly work! Everytime they incorrectly call it soccer, European fans will get angry. Edited by Saudi Arabia, May 8 2010, 12:03 AM.

Did in 1994. Finals were played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Semis were also played at Giants Stadium, which is just on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River outside New York City. They also used Stanford Stadium (Stanford, California), the Cotton Bowl (Dallas, Texas), Foxboro Stadium (near Boston, MA), the Citrus Bowl (Orlando, Florida), the Pontiac Silverdome (Detroit, Michigan), RFK Stadium (Washington, DC) and Soldier Field (Chicago, Illinois). Several of those venues are looking to host again, though Foxboro and Giants Stadiums are now gone. Total attendance at the games? 3,587,538. Average attendance per game? 68,991 per match. Both are FIFA World Cup records which stand today, though I think they will be beaten if I get to host in 2018. So don't laugh. I DO want to host it, if for no other reason than to show that my team isn't the embarrassment they were in 1994. |

I broke the tie... Sorry USA but as an American I simply cannot stand soccer and would rather not have more traffic on the turnpike with the games at giant stadium (which should be called Jets Stadium) |

Uh, Giants Stadium is not being used. The soccer stadium for NY is going in Brooklyn, in a run-down part of Brooklyn by the Harbor which is about to be redeveloped around the stadium. Thanks much, China.

Umm... Good luck with that, In New York it is nearly impossible to get an athletic stadium built. It took close to a decade to get the city to agree to a new Yankee Stadium, and thats the Yankees. The City would never vote to publicly fund the work and theres no use for it after, The Red Bulls just got a new stadium in Harrison (way to small for the world cup though) |

Even in the worst neighborhood possible its nearly ASB to get a stadium built in New York. Not to mention how's the US public going to feel about building an elaborate new SOCCER stadium when americans are out of work. It would be a symbol of the oppulance of New York and a Big Government project being forced down good hard working (football loving) americans. |

It's in a mostly abandoned area along the harbor, in Red Hook, with a short run off of I-278/478 to the stadium, which will be a prominent thing along New York's skyline. It would be the home for the NY Giants after the World Cup, BTW. It will also be the centerpiece of New York's future Olympics bid.

Firstly, the economy is recovering. Secondly, this will create many jobs. Thirdly, this stadium will have many uses, not just soccer. Fourth, this is a city which has built two major stadiums in the last couple years already, and is building many things already. Fifth, this is New York City - you think the city of New York is gonna turn down a plan to turn one of the most unsafe neighborhoods in the city into a place that people do want to live in? I don't think its ASB at all. I'm putting it in a horrible neighborhood for reason that I WANT to turn that neighborhood around using that stadium as a lynchpin. |
