INS Revenge (Former Lazarev) The Lazarev will be modified and extensively overhauled upon reaching India. Among other things - Her powerplants will be replaced with two 85 MW nuclear reactors designed for use with the Arihant Class - Her electronics will be partially replaced depending on their age and usefulness with more modern Indian, European or American electronics - Her Shipwreck ASM missiles which could not be included in the deal thanks to the Missile control regime treaty will be replaced with 24 Brahmos - Her SA-N-9 missiles will be replaced with an equal number of Barak II. - Her 130mm guns will be replaced with 4 super rapid fire 155mm guns. - Her Silex guided ASW missiles will be removed. - Her AK-630 CIWS systems will be replaced with 4 Kashtan CIWS systems. - In general her facilities will be overhauled and modernized with the goal of extending her service life and making her a more formidable fighting vessel. She will be commissioned in 2013. Edited by India, May 9 2010, 10:17 PM.

OOC: 1) did you check for the size of the Brahmos and Nirbhay missiles compared to the Shipwrecks? Shipwrecks are huge, but you're doubling your missile capacity in the same size, and I don't think both those are half the size. 2) You're going to want to replace the SA-N-9's with the Baraks, the Gecko is launched with a single arm launcher from a magazine, so replacing that with Barak's won't actually give you the same number of missiles, whereas the SA-N-9 is VL, albeit not in quite the same fashion, so you will be able to maintain almost the same number of missiles for much improved performance 3) There aren't any 100mm guns on the Lazarev, she only has 1 130mm gun. Anyways, you aren't going to be able to fit 4 155's on there anyways without sacrificing deck space from missiles to gun turrets, which is generally unadvisable. 4) You should definitely update the CIWS, the AK-630 is okay, but the Kashtan system is really badass. |

OOC 1) Right about that. Will reduce to 24 Brahmos. 2) Will do. 3) The 130 mm is a double. 4) Will replace with kashtan. Thanks for the advice buddy. Edited by India, May 9 2010, 10:17 PM.

OOC: INS Revenge? Me, I would have gone for a name like INS Bharat, which is India in Hindi (and several other official Indian languages). Up to you, though. |

Modernized Oscar Class Two Oscar class SSGN submarines have recently been purchased from Russia. These two submarines will upon arrival undergo a process of refitting and modernization including the replacement of their (Empty. Thank you fucking missile treaty) guided missile tubes with Nirbhay and Brahmos Cruise Missiles. Their electronics will also be modified and their reactors replaced with Indian designs. |
