The Israeli Navy has commissioned IAI to design and build 2 frigates. These vessels are to be named the INS Zak and INS Limon, after two notable commanders of the Israeli Navy.![]() INS Zak Specifications Length: 155m Beam: 25m Draught: 5m Displacement: 3,300 tonnes Propulsion: 2x GE LM-2500 gas turbine engines Max Speed: 30 knots Cruise speed: 18 knots Range: 6,000km at 25 knots Complement: 185 Armament: 2x 150mm gun (1x double turret) 1x 64 cell VLS (assortment of Tomahawk, Harpoon, Standard-ER, and Barak II missiles) 1x 48 cell VLS (See above) 2x 21 cell RAM Launchers 1x Phalanx CIWS Aviation Facilities: 1x Helipad and Hangar (Eurocopter Panther) |

OOC You realize you will probably have to have the Americans build them right? Thats since your largest ships the Saar 5s were built in Mississipi. |

OOC: I'll definitely need American help to integrate the weapons systems, during the planning and building stages. Other than that, though, I can actually build them. The Israeli Sea Corps page says that they want to build their next ship, twice the size of the Sa'ar 5, at the Israel Shipyards drydock in Haifa. Sure, this is even bigger than that, but the drydock in 900m long, and the cranes can hoist 20,000 tonnes, which this is definitely less than. I'm also planning on building this in pieces, and then assembling in the drydock, so I can build the ships with some overlap. |
