France is greatly interested in such a missile with its long range and great capabilities. We would be willing to partner with American in such an interesting project.
That can be done, of course, but we must insist that whatever the result USAF missiles must be able to be entirely made in the United States. If that is acceptable, we can do business. This missile is designed to kill support aircraft, particularly enemy AWACS, Tanker and C4ISTAR type aircraft, and is too large to be an effective weapon to kill fighters.

Of course this is acceptable to us. Yes we realized that is the point of the missile but the first step to winning the air war is to deny the enemy radar coverage and the ability to refuel in the air.
