Trisha Recounts Emergency Landing Drama

A private plane that Trisha Yearwood was traveling in was forced to make an emergency landing last week. Trisha was flying with a friend from Boston back home to Oklahoma after participating in the three-day, 60-mile walk to benefit the Susan G. Komen breast cancer research fund when they heard a loud, disturbing noise on the plane. Trisha tells People.com, "We had been in the air for almost an hour when we heard a loud pop." The sound was the front left window cracking. "The flight attendant came back and told us to remain calm," adds Trisha. "That's when we saw the two pilots with the oxygen masks on. Hearing them breathe like Darth Vader made it a little harder to stay calm." The pilots made an emergency landing in Baltimore as the crack became larger and larger. "We never lost cabin pressure," says Trisha, "so we didn't have to use our oxygen masks. I can't imagine what might have happened if that window had shattered at 30,000 feet!" The plane was met by emergency vehicles upon landing in Baltimore, but despite the seriousness of the incident, Trisha made the best of the situation. While waiting for another plane to take them the rest of the way home, Trisha and her friend had a "fantastic" dinner at Baltimore Harbour's Light Street Pavilion. Trisha says, "We toasted to surviving the three-day walk - and the emergency landing!"
