| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. Been watching it since Day One. Never miss an episode. I just wish Joshua Jackson had more to do on the show. Only Anna Torv does all the action scenes. |

He doesn't really do the action scenes. He basically translates what Walter says and also adds some comic relief. |

I actually really like that show, I wonder if many of those things have their base in real science, like if many of those things are possible? |

Yeah. It does. It's called fringe science. Not pseudoscience. There's a difference. |

I watch that show every time it is on. It is just plain cool that they made a show based off of fringe science. |

I wish I could give the public a true picture of the queen as she appeared at her best, but this would be impossible, even had she permitted a photograph to be taken, for her charming play of expression while in conversation, the character and intellect which were then revealed, were only half seen when the face was in repose. -Lilias Underwood when speaking of Empress Myeongseong "I was born in the dark. I went out into the light, and your Majesty, it is my displeasure to inform you that I have returned to the dark. I envision a Seoul of towering buildings filled with Western establishments that will place herself back above the Japanese barbarians. Great things lie ahead for the Kingdom, great things. We must take action, your Majesty, without hesitation, to further modernize this still ancient kingdom."-Min Young-ik to Empress Myeongseong | |

Well many of this is really out of the realm of possibility, many current theories were considered fringe science (plate tectonics). I wonder if psychic abilities have their place here, no one has ever done extensive test on these abilities (except for the U.S and Russian govt.) so they could be in the realm of reality

If it's fringe then it's possible. |

Exactly, ya know I was always had a feeling the U.S govt. had some dealing with psychic abilities, well what do you know I hear about the Stargate Project. When in the 1970's 'til 1995 (Although I wouldn't be surprised if it's still around) the U.S govt. trained and used psychics in the military and CIA, "remote viewers" as well as a telekinetic they listed, although there may have a slew of other abilities as the founder believed there were many more abilities , and he even attempted to walk through walls (wouldn't be surprised if he was successful) What other abilities did they train, regeneration, teleportation, induced radioactivity,phasing,invisibility... although with our secretive government we won't know much

I looked some of the Primeval creatures up on wikipedia, and it seems that they borrowed some creatures from "After Man", only changed them to get then around the copyright laws. |

Primeval is pretty good, though I liked the first series best. And psychic powers are not possible. There were a few test done in the 05's, and become of they way it was conducted it seem to show that there might be something to it. Subsequent tests show that there is noting to it at all. The only reason we think it is possible is because we are imperfect creatures. We can talk out loud, and talk in our head. You can hear the external voice, so we assume there must be a way to hear the internal one. Interestingly in the past people thought that the voice in their head was the voice of gods and the supernatural. |

Maybe not conventional psychic powers, but levitation, telekinesis, invisibility are definitely possible. I'll explain: LEVITATION: If we implant strong magnets into our bodies, the magnets can hook onto the Earth's magnetic field and levitate. This wouldn't allow us to levitate like pshychic superheroes, but it would allow us to hover over the ground. TELEKINESIS: Same mechanism, only instead of the magnets locking onto Earth's magnetic field, the magnets lock onto the magnetic fields of other objects (all objects have a magnetic field, whether it is weak (like a pencil) or strong (like Jupiter)). INVISIBILITY: If you wear a full body suit that acts like a large computer, the objects that are behind you will be projected onto the front half of the suit; and vice versa. FORCE FIELDS: If you embed multiple cold plasma (a known substance. It is used to make lasers and to put small force fields around chunks of metal) generators into the fabric of a full body suit, you can effectively create force fields that surround your entire body, effectively making you invincible. |

When I said impossible I mean impossible to do with magic i.e. mind over matter. I don't know how you are going to fit a electromagnet large enough to pick up non ferrous material into ones body. Or how one would carry the power to run it. And how you would stop iron railings or large hunks of steel flying towards you and impaling you. I don't know about force fields, but I know NASA is experimenting with something like that to stop micro meteorites. |
