| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I’m more or less going to echo the sentiments of others here. Do what you want to do, Sheatheria was great, and I wish you luck and happiness in future spec endeavors. Hope you don’t mind me asking this, Sheather, but why exactly were the aerwhales deemed implausible, and what changes would need to occur in their design for them to be more realistic? |

it was one of the best projects in the forum and its sad to see it finished at last. i think the only mistake was making the planet so big, there were a lot of locations in the map that were missing their own articles, species and dioramas. even for an experimented Speccer it would have taken a lot of time to cover all those places, so i can understand the burn out from that part too. i would have liked to see more from the Wumbian Underground Sea. 2 species wasnt enough IMO. Well, I really have some marked feelings with this, from admiration for the dedication you have had in these years for trying to maintain high plausibility and keep going to makes things works and sadness because you have not achieved it in the way you wanted Sheather. From the beginning I have seen the evolution of Sheatheria and I had found fascinating the point of working in the speculation in a "fantastic" planet, an unreal world and the results that lead to the development of unique lifeforms, after all that At least I think, what matters in several projects is not usually about the plausibility or possibilities of a world but about the final results of the evolution of life that could lead to such a world. The decision to finish the project despite being a sad one, is probably the best, stay with a concept that never comes forward tends to stagnate one and maintain an atmosphere of frustration, so if you do not feel comfortable with th premise and do not think you can move forward with it, is better to give it an end and continue in other path with another focus in other areas. I really have confidence in the case you want to give a "home" to each of your lineages that are not in some other project, each concept you have created are diverse enough to have their own world or timeline. |

but who told you they had those structures? @glarn I think you are right in a way that we sometimes overcritised softer spec but there is certain stuff that is not possible unless you did it in an alt universe and in fact some weird alt unis can have really cool stuff(I have seen people spec with kaiju in alt universe) and I don't think is fully comparable to the other examples you said, but I understand your opinion though in my opinion sheatheria is not soft spec, I mean you could largue the like between hard and soft is very vague |
