| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! So it's officially May 24th here in the Maritimes, and therefore that means I'm late for some of you and at least an hour early for everyone else. This means it's been, counting by days, ten whole years since the forum was created! I've just barely been a part of this place for a third of its lifespan (holy shit, I've been here for a third of the forum's lifespan), and I know a sizeable portion of you readers have been here for even less than that. Despite this, all of us here appreciate the work and creativity many members have put into backing up the name we have for this here message board. Extended introductions about stuff you knew already aside, I'm here to ask you guys a simple question. What are some of your favorite speculative evolution creatures that have been created on the forum in the ten years we've all been here? Feel free to name as many creatures as you want - with such a write history of creation on this site (as DT is, I'm sure, eager to demonstrate soon), it means just as much whether you name one, seven, or a dozen animals, plants, aliens, or eldritch horrors. Favorite Scenario Census Favorite Project Census |

I have a decent few, but the ones that really stand out would have to be Amoeboid's Gapuri and Bex, The Arcadian Firebear and Pillar-Legged Starruses , Star People from YASBP and the Cliff Whistler and Wendigo from Nereus. I'm also pretty fond of R'Lyeh's Xenotherians and Babaconia from Umbriel. |

For example, the number of new volant lineages, subspecies of existing genera, number of sapients derived from Earth fauna, number of divergence points in different time periods (No K-Pg extinction, No Great Dying, etc.) |

Oh, this is a tricky one. I've seen so many intriguing speculative creatures. Its hard to pick favourites, though I'll try to present some that I particularly liked. The Silver Whillawhisper, from Sheather's Terra Metropolis: https://sheather888.deviantart.com/art/Silver-Whillawhisper-445693475 Dragonthunders' future crocodiles, from The Future is Far: https://dragonthunders.deviantart.com/art/The-Future-is-Far-The-crocodiles-576765486 The Menes, by JohnFaa, from the At The End COM: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/single/?p=1137204&t=5700280 The Triton from Empyreon's Nereus: https://sites.google.com/site/projectnereus/home/life/tetrabrachia/ichthyoforma/celeracaudae/triton The Magnificent Strider, also from Nereus: https://sites.google.com/site/projectnereus/home/life/tetrabrachia/triradiopodia/magnificent-strider The Wyverns, by Akurian452, from Proxima B: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/single/?p=3047620&t=6210493 The Whistlers, by SemiCylinder, from Cinder: http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/topic/5826701/1/ There's probably others deserving of being in my list too, but these are examples I could think of for now. |

I didn't realise we could include spec creatures outside of the SE forum. In that case I also choose the Future Predator from Primeval, Xenomorphs (I believe that qualifies) and the Kaimen from Senkkei, who I don't think is a member here but is an artist that posts his work on Deviantart. For those who don't know what that is here is a pic of the Kaimen and a link to the page itself Senkkei's Kaimen

Fair enough. I'm leaving my post though because I seriously love the design of the Kaimen and I think everyone should have a chance to look at Senkkei's other work. I only just started seeing his page today but he's a really good artist |
