Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

If it was a large number of individuals, wouldn't that be obviously distinguishable from a continued sound from one individual?
totally not British, b-baka!

I don't even really like this song that much but the title is pretty relatable sometimes, I guess.
Me
What, you want me to tell you what these mean?

How so? Compare this video of the bloop in real time (2:48) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Veo_0ej5Tm8 to this ecording of a school of corvina (0:15) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX6YR85EB-g

Now while those sounds are different, I don't see how one could conclude based on the audio alone whether or not it came from one source or from many sources.

Anyway, what would you propose? Clearly whatever the "whale-like creature" you hypothesized is, it must be far larger or louder than anything we know of, how would you justify this?

- needs a reason to produce such a loud noise
Sonar? Attracting mates? A stomatopod-style weapon?

The bloop could be a chorus made by a gigantic pod of whales.

Even if it is not a real thing, that sound is scary enought to wonder what the hell is happening down there
When life give you lemons.............Don't make lemonade!Make life to take the lemons back!Get mad and than.........Yell,demand and burn down their homes.

Prepare for unforeseen consequences,Mr. Freeman!
