Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Does anyone know when bipedalism and / endothermy first arose in tetrapoda? Also, were there any notable deserts during the late Permian?

deserts covered 30 degrees in both hemispheres, on either side of the tropics...according to the rise and fall of the dinosaurs. the names weren't given, sorry.

are there any good websites showing the differences (if any) between how biplanes fly, vs airplanes with fewer or more wings? am thinking about fixed-wing critters.

It’s your attitude, my friend, that’s what.
The truth hurts,does it?

The fact that i know better fish than anything is a real thing buddy .The attitude was a normalish one.

You right now left a bad impression in front of me because you don't let me express my ideas at what i know better.

Lambda, you seriously have to quit with the bullshit. You wonder why people never pay attention to you, well, this is it. Take a step back and reevaluate how you talk to people.

I literally had Lambda PM me the other day saying that 'we can talk any time' about this stuff, I tried to explain it to him, he asked me to go into more detail . . . I tried to be as patient and nice as I could, I even gave him advice on how to have him more noticed. Look, Lambda this is EXACTLY what I was talking about.

This is how people learn: You tell them, then show then an example.

is there an upper limit as to how much of a planet's CO2 can be locked up, before the planet starts being somewhere not friendly to life?

Does anyone know when bipedalism and / endothermy first arose in tetrapoda?
The earliest known endothermic tetrapods were synapsids. The beginnings of endothermy in some synapsids may have shown up as early as the Late Carboniferous.
On bipedalism, there were already bipedal archosauromorphs such as Euparkeria in the Middle Triassic, so bipedalism in tetrapods must go back at least this early and possibly earlier.

The parareptile Eudibaumus was found to be at least partially bipedal.

Is there anybody here who could help me out with Mesozoic mammals? I'm a newbie to the topic and frankly I'm somewhat confused by it all . . .

Really makes you wish Carlos was still doesn't it?
