| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! So, I'm making a project, and I don't know if it sounds good. basically, reptiles, as we know them, never evolved, but a clade of small, endothermic, and fluffy creatures evolved and would evolve to look very similar to today's mammals, reptiles, and birds. fish evolved in different patterns, too, like Cartilaginous fish being more common than Ray-finned fish, and plants have a shit ton of alternations, ( Like aquatic evergreens, and grass-like plants dominating tree-like niches.) not only that but this world has 16 different continents instead of one, and the atmosphere has more oxygen. And there will be more narrative and explanation in this project, so that'll at least help. Yes, it sounds very wacky and confusing, but when I get done with the planning/sketching phase, it'll be more understandable. I just want your opinions on this new project, and whether I should do it or not |

Sounds like this world's life would have a very different flavour from what we recognize, could achieve a more alien-seeming Alternate-Earth while still having recognizable forms. I'm interested. |
