Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

A new year, a new SWHTYT. Old thread: link here!
Time flows like a river. Which is to say, downhill. We can tell this because everything is going downhill rapidly. It would seem prudent to be somewhere else when we reach the sea.

I don't even really like this song that much but the title is pretty relatable sometimes, I guess.

If I had thought of that I would have used it...

EDIT: Actually I will. Can all you people who have already seen this keep my secret please.

Bad is the new good.
And failure is now succeeding poorly, apparently.

I might keep this a secret, Holben.
I might.

Been playing around with a fantasy setting I might/might not do stuff in, vaguely inspired by Myxini's OTDW, in that it involves dungeons and monsters.

Basically, it'd be a modern setting, where, in the past, an ancient but secret war between humans and monsters resulted in us humans banishing our enemies to a bunch of huge dungeons (the DND type dungeon, where "dungeon" just means "big underground cave full of monsters and treasure", as opposed to the real world type of dungeon, where "dungeon" just means "fancy word for prison") located underneath human cities.

It'd basically just be an excuse to have modern characters fight monsters and use magic in a modern setting. There'd be a secret "police force" who's goal is to regulate what/who goes in and out of a dungeon, adventurers who fight off monsters with a magic sword in one hand and use their phone's flashlight in the other, a morally ambiguous bunch of human sorcerers overlooking everything, sentient monsters who actually aren't evil wanting to escape.

That kinda deal. Not the most original setting, but fun. I don't have any characters, and only the basics of the worldbuilding set up, but I might still do something with this.

Coming Soon/To be Rebooted:

How To Hunt Gods - Everything you need to know about Gods and the art of God-killing.

Intrazoology - The world of semi-corporeal lifeforms. A world you walk through every day, without even knowing it.

The Dungeonverse - Magical creatures forced to adapt in huge, underground caverns, while surface-dwelling humans go dungeoneering for treasure.

Crossover - A mish-mash of worlds, with Earth smack in the middle of the chaos. What could go wrong?

no worries

Fuck Shantae and fuck 2D platformers. Don't put a vital objective over a large gag, and then put in a low ceiling so that the one ability in the game that would let you jump that far makes you smack your head and die.

Fuck you Wayforward.

Can someone remind me why people have nostalgia for this shit genre of games when 3D platformers are clearly superior?

Anyway, I'm playing around with the development of religions back in the BC times. Currently trying to figure out what to do with the field of eggshells that is the Abrahamic Faiths.

Thanks for the hug.

While I need money to exchange for goods and services, I also really really hated that job and now I'm almost freeeeee!

Mr Mysterious, I like the sound of that setting.

@Monster, thanks!

I might wanna hold onto that idea for now, though. My brain is not good at focusing on multiple creative things at the same time, and I tend to get fixated on an idea that I end up accidentally abandoning other ideas, which I don't wanna do to Intrazoology.
