Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Why didn't they attempt to extract any genetic material?
typically, that requires culturing, which they couldn't do with it.
not really, extraction of the genetic material is how we study microorganism that can´t be cultured(may be wrong-)

as holben said it was mostly because to see the structure of what they may though to be a normal procariote it have to be covered in those metals for the electron microscope?

Was that the only one or could there be more? If so, how common would they be? There is probably more, but I don't think they are terribly common.
Projects
Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates
Last one crawling: The last arthropod

ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)

Potential ideas-
Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized.
Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal.
Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

Carnivorus Bromeliads
(Full article on these species can be found here)

Basically, these three bromeliads, Brocchinia hechtioides, Brocchinia reducta, and Catopsis berteroniana have developed the ability to lure and digest insects, similar to the more well known species, such as the Sarracenia family. What makes them unusual is the fact that the Brocchinia and Catopsis families contain more than 20 species each, yet only the three species listed above are carnivorous. Compare this to other carnivorous plants, where all members of the family exhibit carnivory. They seem to have developed a trapping mechanism simmilar to that of pitcher plants from the family Sarracenia, with the digestive liquid held in the center of the leaves, where insects climb up the leaves and fall into the pool of digestive liquids. I found out about these recently and thought that I should probobally share it, as these seem rather hard to research (by that, I mean actual, credible, backed up information sources are hard to find. There was no shortage of people selling the things).

A "mini-bear"? That's a rather odd comparison. I would have likened it to a fox or a badger.

I guess, but overall limb/snout proportions are closer to those of bears.

Melibe leonina, commonly known as the hooded nudibranch or lion's mane nudibranch, is a predatory sea slug found on the Pacific coast of North America. Its body is translucent, and its head bears a hood fringed with tentacle-like structures called cirri. Unlike most nudibranchs which are benthic foragers, it feeds on floating plankton, engulfing them with its hood. While they are capable of swimming, they generally feed while clinging onto kelp (or aquarium glass as seen in the picture above). They are usually sedentary during the day, apparently moving from kelp strand to kelp strand at night.

And they allegedly smell like watermelon. Reminds me of the citrus scented auklets.
