Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Wow, just... wow.

I have to say the giants of Settlers from the Deep don't look remotely as impressive in that company!
My deviantART page - My other extra-project work - Natural History of Horus and its flora and fauna - A graphic history of life (also here) - AuxLang Project: a worldwide language - Behold THE MEGACLADOGRAM - World Without West: an alternate history

SpecEvo Tutorials: Habitable Solar Systems (galaxies, stars and moons); Planets (geology, oceans and atmosphere); Ecology (energy, biomes and relationships); Alternative Biochemistry (basic elements, solvents, pigments); Biomechanics (body structure, skeletons, locomotion); Bioenergetics (photosynthesis, digestion, respiration); Perception (sense organs and nervous system); Reproduction (from genetics to childbirth); Offense and Defense (camouflage, poisons and weapons); Intelligence (EQ, consciousness and smartest animals); Civilizations (technology, domestication and culture); Exotic Life (living crystals, nuclear life, 2D biology); Evolution (genetics, selection and speed); Phylogeny (trees of life); Guide to Naming (how to name your creations) (and more!)

My projects here:

Natural History of Horus (19th century naturalists... in space)
Galactic Anthropology (intelligence takes many forms around the Milky Way)
Settlers from the Deep (a tour in a blind and slimy future)
Coming soon: A Matter of Time (a history of the future... all of it)

As a note, The Xenologist has begun updating his creatures on the Hollow Earth forum. One of the changed creatures is the colossus, as seen here:

http://exploresecondearth.boards.net/thread/262/gargantutherium-minorem
http://exploresecondearth.boards.net/post/272
http://exploresecondearth.boards.net/thread/564/biblicanguilla-incredibila

Also, damn. I never thought that the titans were so huge. All this time, I imagined them as being, like, indricothere or Palaeoloxodon-sized.

Will Lost World Reborn and Skull Island Reborn be put into this later as well? The weirdass creatures of Broncosaurus Rex would also be quite interesting, as would some of the 'speculative evolution' SCPs, like the fauna on that giant jellyfish and the aquatic desert animals.

I've been tracking the progress of this size chart in the skype group, and I must say it looks amazing completed. It's amazing to see the contrasts in size between all the different creatures.

Projects and concepts that I have stewing around
Extended Pleistocene- An alternate future where man died out, and the megafauna would continue to thrive (may or may not include a bit about certain future sapients)
Inverted World- An alternate timeline where an asteroid hit during the Barremian, causing an extinction event before the Maastrichtian. Dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and notosuchians make it to the present, along with a host of other animals.
Badania- Alien planet that has life at a devonian stage of development, except it exists in the present day.
Ido- Alien world where hoppers (derived flightless ballonts) and mouthpart-legged beasts are prevalent.
Leto- Life on a moon orbiting a gas giant with an erratic orbit; experiences extremes of hot and cold.
The Park- ???
Deeper Impact- a world where the K-Pg extinction wipes out crocodilians, mammals, and birds; squamates, choristoderes, and turtles inherit the earth.
World of Equal Opportunity- alternate history where denisovans come across Beringia and interact with native fauna. Much of the Pleistocene fauna survives, and the modern humans that end up crossing into North America do not overhunt the existing animals. 10,000 years later, civilizations exist that are on par with European and Asian societies.
The Ditch- Nothing is what if seems..

Nice work DT! The amount of work you have put into this is very impressive. Your depictions of Umbriel's fauna are great!

So snouters is the first spec evo project?

In a way, it is rather indirect speculation since at first this was supposed to be a type of "fraud"

Will Lost World Reborn and Skull Island Reborn be put into this later as well?

I am not sure yet, I would need to see them again and decide which species I will add.

I want to minimize as much as possible the introduction of works not related so much with the forum, DA SE and the known and verified spec in general, so, I dont think so.

"Active" projects

The Future is Far
Welcome to the next chapters of the evolution of life on earth, travel the across the earth on a journey that goes beyond the limits, a billion years of future history in the making.

The SE giants project
Wonder what is the big of the big on speculative evolution? no problem, here is the answer

Coming one day
Age of Mankind
Humanity fate and its possible finals.

The Long Cosmic Journey
The history outside our world.

The alternative paths
The multiverse, the final frontier...

Holocene park: Welcome to the biggest adventure of the last 215 million years, where the age of mammals comes to life again!
Cambrian mars: An interesting experiment on an unprecedented scale, the life of a particular and important period in the history of our planet, the cambric life, has been transported to a terraformed and habitable mars in an alternative past.
Two different paths, two different worlds, but same life and same weirdness.

Eh, speculative evolution is still speculative evolution. Besides, there aren't exactly have a lot of big animals in either one of those settings.

They aren't, both fall in the topic of creature design, you can apply speculative evolution to explain some aspects of them, however, that does not mean that they are SE. Please stop insisting on it, I will simply ignore the suggestions of that kind if they appear again

What about Isla el Mundo Perdido and The Multiverse?

It is possible to add things from the multiverse soon, is a good project as many recent ones here that would deserves its place in the chart. About Perdido, is possible that it can be added.

Shame; the Dinosaurs that Never Were supplement was meant to be an exercise of what dinosaurs might look like if they never went extinct.

Plus, it would have been neat to see this:

Or these:

On that chart.
It's so impossible for these creatures to reach 300 to 400 feet long.
Discontinued projects:
The New Ostracoderms (i might continue with this project again someday)
The Americas (where in 58 million years from now in the future North and South America has both become isolated island continents)

All Expansions (my attempt at expanding the universe of All Tomorrows by Nemo Ramjet aka C.M. Kosemen, started June 6, 2018)
Anthropozoic (my attempt at expanding the universe of Man After Man and also a re-imagining of it, coming 2019 or 2020)
New Cenozoica (my attempt at expanding the universe of The New Dinosaurs and also a re-imagining of it, also coming 2019 or 2020)
All Alternatives or All Changes (a re-telling of All Tomorrows but with some minor and major "changes", coming June 10, 2018)

Do I need to repeat what's very quickly becoming my catchphrase concerning you? Of course they're improbable - that massive size makes it even more hilarious when you realize that in terms of statistics, a couple of ogres would award you more XP than one of those giants.
