Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Woohoo! Back in business!
Projects
Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates
Last one crawling: The last arthropod

ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)

Potential ideas-
Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized.
Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal.
Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

This is a really amazing idea. I think I found a few of these you posted on deviant art. It's also a really great starting point for people who are new to find what's out there in ways of big or completed projects. Most of these I've never heard of.

I've been mulling this over for a while now....

Why not start taking commissions to add to the size chart?

There's a lot of smaller speculative evolution projects that are scattered across the Internet, ones that are much less well-known and don't have a lot of presence, but with plenty of giants to choose from. You've mentioned before about how you'd rather not spend a lot of time adding a bunch of new animals to the chart just because you were pressured into it; with commissioning, however, not only would the requesters thin in numbers, but you could make a bit of extra money on the side as the bestiary expands.

Now, there's two ways you could go about doing this:

1. Just doing a set price for each creature, nothing else....

Or 2. Setting a base price for featuring one project, then ramping up the price in increments for each additional species commissioned. If the commissioner wants multiple projects featured, they have to pay the base fee multiple times, once for each project he wants featured.

To put this with an example: Let's say that someone wants to commission you to add three animals from his No-KT project along with two other animals from a future evolution project. For this, he would pay you a base price (Let's say $15 as a model here) for the first creature from that No-KT project, then the increment prices for each of the other two (Say, $8 each). The first of the creatures from the future evolution project would also cost $15, and the second would cost another $8. So, just from adding a small handful of animals to the bestiary, you've just made $54 dollars. Yes, the example is a bit pricey, but you could easily change the prices to whatever you're comfortable with. And honestly? You'd be doing a lot of artists a huge favor by bringing attention to their works.

As for the issue of people who would go through with this, well.... I, for one, would gladly pay for several less-known projects to be featured.

The ethereal archosaur in blue

I'm going to say no.

I have created this as the celebration of the culmination of many projects showing a interesting frame of the diversity of creatures that have been created, starting to charge to add species would only remove the purpose for which I am creating this, I don't need money, is very clear that not all people have money to make commissions and I would still reject offers if they do not comply with what I'm looking for.
