Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Oh, and what's that elephant thing with the human face that's taller than the grove crab?

You seriously have a reading problem. On the first post of this entire thread is has an entire list of everything on the chart.

This isn't the first time either. I pointed it out in the R'leyh thread, but you did the same thing in the Diyu thread.

Are marrellamorphs or nektaspids in Diyu?

Meanwhile on the table of contents one of the categories was nektaspids, clear as day. It's like you only look at the pictures, their names, maybe a few sentences and stop reading. What's the point of asking a question when the answer is only a few clicks away?

Alright, alright. First of all, yes, the Nektaspids thing was completely on me.

But here, not so much. I know very well their is a chart. But it's somewhat difficult matching the names to the picture if you know where I'm getting at.
Projects
Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates
Last one crawling: The last arthropod

ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)

Potential ideas-
Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized.
Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal.
Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

It really isn't. If you're really so lazy that you can't even google the names of animals that you don't know about, then I don't know what to say. It's really not that hard to just look them up and read the source material.
Projects and concepts that I have stewing around
Extended Pleistocene- An alternate future where man died out, and the megafauna would continue to thrive (may or may not include a bit about certain future sapients)
Inverted World- An alternate timeline where an asteroid hit during the Barremian, causing an extinction event before the Maastrichtian. Dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and notosuchians make it to the present, along with a host of other animals.
Badania- Alien planet that has life at a devonian stage of development, except it exists in the present day.
Ido- Alien world where hoppers (derived flightless ballonts) and mouthpart-legged beasts are prevalent.
Leto- Life on a moon orbiting a gas giant with an erratic orbit; experiences extremes of hot and cold.
The Park- ???
Deeper Impact- a world where the K-Pg extinction wipes out crocodilians, mammals, and birds; squamates, choristoderes, and turtles inherit the earth.
World of Equal Opportunity- alternate history where denisovans come across Beringia and interact with native fauna. Much of the Pleistocene fauna survives, and the modern humans that end up crossing into North America do not overhunt the existing animals. 10,000 years later, civilizations exist that are on par with European and Asian societies.
The Ditch- Nothing is what if seems..

For some reason, that never really crossed my mind.

Are creatures from sagan 4 being added to the alien chart? I'd assume so.

If missed something, kill me.

It was metaphorical.

Unless I wasn't looking close enough, they dont appear to be numbered.

Can you guys drop this? You're all seriously cluttering up DT's thread. Insect, please think a little more before you post, half of the questions you've asked could have been answered by just looking over the thread more carefully.

Um, I have a few questions.

First, will any entries from Hyrotrioskjan's spec challenges make an appearance here? There's only been two so far, yes, but there's already quite a few creatures that would make excellent entries.

Second, apologies if this has already been answered, but will there be any other entries from contests besides Hybrid's? Flisch's aspidochelone, for example, could fit very easily into this.

Third, what new projects have you decided to add to the chart, ones that you haven't stated yet, and if so, could you perhaps give a hint as to the identities of one or two?

Fourth, I'm unsure if you're really taking requests, but I have found four pieces of speculative fiction that could probably fit very well into this chart; or, at the very least, into that 'soft spec' chart you have been teasing.

The first is an article concerning Godzilla, which ended up designing a fairly plausible giant fire-breathing, sauropod-hunting basal ceratosaur as their end product, found here. The second is Days of Dikorus, a kaijuverse created by Gilarah93 on DeviantArt here. The maker of the project has extensive knowledge of real-life biomechanics and anatomy, and it really shows with his creatures - they're one-off, sterile creatures that are more biological nuclear reactors than living things, with abilities and powers firmly rooted in reality. But it's not really the kaiju that I'm thinking would fit here - instead, what I've got my eye on is the animals. See, there's not just kaiju in this verse - there are also 'lost worlds' known as Worlds Beneath, where thousands of species of prehistoric animals have managed to survive and evolve, while also providing stock for the natural processes that create kaiju. Don't be fooled by the kaijuverse nature of this project; this is hard spec through and through, and the animals here range from simple large hippos to titanic Kong-sized lemurs and even aliens. Oh yeah - there's aliens, too. Gilarah hasn't gotten to them yet - he's going through the fauna and flora of his world in alphabetical order, and he's current on the letter 'D,' but they are coming.
Third, there's The Many Hearts of the World, or TMHotW, found here. It's another 'lost world' project, one that's still fairly new, but the material that's already present is extremely high quality. At the moment, the only lost worlds, or 'Hearts,' as they are called in the project, that have really been touched upon are two in North America and one in Eurasia, each one with its own unique collection of flora and fauna.
And finally, there is Fortune Evolution (here), Evogame (here) and Primordial Evolution (here), two turn-based evolution games from the /tg/ board on 4chan. Each one has a huge selection of fauna to choose from, all of which were evolved step by step and explained thoroughly regarding their evolution. Granted, there is a fair deal of silliness, but that's kinda to be expected of /tg/. I'd imagine that these would go into either the soft spec or the aliens thread.

I think Hybrid's creatures are the only contest entries thus far because he essentially made an entire mini- project around his COM entry.

True enough, but that could be said about a lot of entries, to be perfectly honest. Hell, my Darkwood creatures from last Halloween could technically fill that criteria.

Will creatures from Troll Man's R'lyeh appear in the chart? I think it's pretty worthy.

These suggestions are just getting out of hand now guys (this goes for Glarn as well). Like Zorc said, they do nothing but clog the thread even more than it already is. I get it. You guys really like these projects and want to see them get some representation in this absolutely amazing chart. That's fine. But this constant pestering of Dragonthunders isn't the way to go about it. It's his project, his alone, and he alone shall decide what does or does not make the final cut. End of story.

To tell the truth, no, is not even a candidate to add, there are too many aspects of the project that have made me reject any creature there, mainly for bizarre and implausible designs. No offense for those who are members of the project.

They are good entries but I have no real interest to add them, each is a individual concept that are not part of large projects or part of a specific story so they are irrelevant for me.

Nop.

As Far only Post-Earth, The Twisted Mirrow and probably The multiverse.

Where is exactly the part describing it hunt sauropods, or the "plausible" fire breathing?
The only thing I see is about solving the cladistic position in its theropod incarnation, that does not make it "plausible"
And no.

It seems appropriate, however, I would have to see the project in detail.

No

I must say that I will not bother to discuss why I reject the ones I have said no, I repeated the reasons why I did not add that kind of work, they are clear and I will not waste time adding things that for you they "look" like spec evo or good.

Really no.
Dont get me wrong, you made a good effort to create that written entry, however what hybrid made is by far unique, is not a simple written entry, is a comic, is a world with different species in different niches described and drawn which seems not easy to do.
