| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. Okay, so you know those nation simulation games like Civilization and Europa Universalis. Well, imagine something like that, but instead of a nation, you manage an animal group as they progress through prehistory, and try to achieve dominance in the land, air and sea across all the continents. Basically a fusion of nation management and evolution simulation! You could choose between humans, mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, amphibians, arthropods, molluscs and worms, each with their own starting advantages and disadvantages, or you could custom-create your own group. You could play in a local multiplayer, online multiplayer, single player or creative mode, and you could choose whether to start from a particular point in Earth's history and travel through the real climate events and continental drift that occurred here, or whether to start in a randomly generated Earthlike planet, with its own differently timed supercontinent cycle and series of climatic changes, which result in all the other groups evolving differently. Individual species act like your army divisions, each with particular abilities and roles they can fill in an area (so land herbivores, sky scavengers, etc.). In order to progress, you could send 'rafts' (a log with one of your species) into territory ruled by other animals. You could also use radiation to modify your species until you get a desired adaptation, in order to make them better able to take over an area. When two continents collide, the species on either side would immediately begin invading each others' territory, and whichever was best adapted to killing the others and using the resources available would triumph. Inside your own territory, you need to hold of threats, and make sure you exploit enough resources to survive, but not so many you wipe them out completely. You don't micromanage and eat individual plants and animals, you use radiation to customise your species' behavioural and physical features, and the AI then simulates the amount of resource use and success of attacks against enemy forces. A live news feed updates you if resources are running low, your species is starving or you lose or gain a the sky, sea or land of a continent. In the end, you could create like an alternate history where a civilization of four legged reptiles or something takes over the planet, or really whatever you want. AAAAH! This would be so cool! I wish I could code lol. |

Might make for an interesting concept for a game. Will there be any characters? |

This is literally already a board game. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

What isn't a board game at this point. Regarding the topic: I actually made a forum game that was essentially that. You might want to take a look. http://s1.zetaboards.com/Conceptual_Evolution/topic/3883792/1/ Problem is, it was very complex and indepth. It's near unmanageable unless you can program at least some sort of interface that calculates all the stuff. This is why it failed in the past. It was too much work for both the players and me. If I had the time I'd make a neat little application where you just punch in your stuff and the program keeps track of everything and does the calculations. Edited by Flisch, Nov 14 2016, 09:23 AM.

Aren't there already a game like that? Even if it existed but no longer do? |

“There's a tree," Starflight said, jumping to his feet. "In the forest." "No way," Glory said. "A tree in the forest?” "Ce corps qui s'appelait et qui s'appelle encore le saint empire romain n'était en aucune manière ni saint, ni romain, ni empire." -Voltaire "So if you wake up in the morning and it's a particularly beautiful day you'll know we made it." -Capa "One of those capsules hit a wing." Victor said. "Had to do an emergency landing." He pointed to a crumpled plane a couple dozen meters behind him and shrugged. "Not my most elegant landing." -me in Flisch's story "Spec Evo: Void Entry" (Act 3) "but by rule 34 of the multiverse, if it exists, there’s a world full of it." -Tet "I must ask you to leave now." -Everyone (not realy though) in Flisch's story "Spec Evo: Void Entry" Projects Status My Blog (SE Blog) Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyBzYPIsLp0uHoPtT6ZEyww | |

In terms of video games there are Sim Life (More of a sandbox), Sim Earth (More of a simulation) and Genetic Evolution (Less of a sandbox/simulation and more of an actual "game"). |

I've played both Sim Earth and Sim Life, they are among my favourite games. But in terms of my concept, they don't really match it, the point is more to have a game with warring factions on a map, except each faction is a clade of animals and you're trying to get your clade to become dominant. I haven't played Genetic Evolution so can't comment of whether it matches that. |

If there is to be any voice acting just cast Troy Baker as the lead with Dee Bradley Baker providing all the creature vocals and you're pretty much set. |

Look a lot of voice actors are practically in most video games now a days anyway-- (then again the SAG strike might change that) . Jennifer Hale . John Dimaggio . Fred Tatasciore . Steve Blum . Kari Wahlgren . Laura Bailey . Josh Keaton . Sumalee Montano . Matthew Mercer . Yuri Lowenthal . Brian Bloom You name it! So if neither of them then who do you want?
