Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

It turns out that synapsids are not true tetrapods, and come from a completely different set of amphibians which came from osteolepiform fish.
Projects
Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates
Last one crawling: The last arthropod

ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)

Potential ideas-
Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized.
Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal.
Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

Arthropods are actually highly neotenic descendants of hexapedal fish transported to another planet. They evolved a chitinous covering, compound eyes, and horizontal jaws, all of which where results of extreme genetic manipulation by aliens. They where then sent back time and introduced to early cambrian earth, changing the course of life.

Swordfish are surviving ichthyosaurs which have re-evolved gills.

Horses are actually archosaurs.

Scorpions and centipedes are closely related.

Cats and dinosaurs are very tetrapod-like aliens that got onto Earth via Alien Space Bats.

Bats are also aliens. And so are insects.

Shrimp are highly derived descendants of Anomalocaris.

Turtles are mammals.

Lizards are descended from early actinopteryigan fish that crawled out of the ocean in the Triassic.

All extant and recently extinct metazoans share a direct common ancestor that lived during the mid Pleistocene. All other "animals" in the fossil record are actually another lineage of opisthkonts. The convergent evolution between these groups is truly extreme.

Sea Horses (and Pipefish & Sea Dragons) are not true fish...they split from the backboned family somewhere between the Hagfish and the Lamprey.

Then why do we only find that particular group in the fossil record about 30 million years back?

All Legend of Zelda monsters were meticulously designed after living organisms, so Lord Ganonpork could escape from the game and wreak havoc upon the world just by mutating the environment.

Tektite? Giant tick.
Molgera? Rotifer.
Chu chu? Slime mold.
Morpheel? Scalidophoran.
Argorok? Badly sunburned hoatzin.
This was getting fairly big.

That still makes them fish
