Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Some of you may say " Why join Sagan 4? Its not scientific enough" but if everyone said that then guess what no one that knows better would join! So please people if you know real science then we need you! Just because it has things that did not make sense in the beginning doesn't mean you can't help fix to make sense for the future. When i started Sagan 4 2 years ago I have no idea what i was doing and it was basically an experiment that was suppose to last a month, if that. Basiclly the project itself has evolved into what it is today. And the reason it has lasted so long is because of the people who helped make it.

However since the release of Spore participation has dropped. Which is why i am posting here. Because you guys are enthusiastic about biology and science. The people we need. So please join or even re-join if you have left. I would also like to have some "BS" checkers if anyone wants to help. We use to have some back in the old days who would look over species to make sure they made evolutionary sense. But eventually they left and it was only up to me to check.

This lead to me letting people in who did not always know their biology. Thus it was either i let the project die with only me participating or open it up to those who did not know better. Sure over time their art and biological skills got better but not without causing the past of Sagan 4 to have species that did not always make sense.

In short don't judge Sagan 4 on how accurate it is, but judge it on how it has evolved and matured as a project. No other speculative evolution project out there will have the amount of content this has even Dougal Dixon, Nemo Ramjet and Wayne Barlowe's world have only a fraction of the species Sagan 4 has. The only thing i can think of that has more species is Spore and that's because its a full blown computer game and has evolution that makes even less sense than Sagan 4. But the difference between Spore and Sagan 4 is, you can help it become more realistic.

My dream is to have an extremely diverse planet that has species that make sense and origins from a single species. Please help make this dream a reality.

"Sagan 4 is a wonderful experiment, not because it has the best art or the soundest biology, but because it is an actual working project where a team of speculative zoologists has derived an entire biosphere from a single hypothetical cell." - C.M. Kosemen

have you heard of a program called gimp?
Perhaps, i'll try.
Because, i want my coloring looking like this:

So, i don't know if GIMP can do that for my art.
But, well, i'll try to use it.
GIMP can do anything Adobe Photoshop can. So yes you could color like that.
