Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

This is my latest piece of art: a megathere. I chose a color scheme similar to three-toed sloths, even though they are more closely related to the two-toed sloths. I just think three-toed sloths look so much cuter :D But then again, two-toed sloths are just as cool.

My lastest pictures on DA are WIPs; I'm trying to figure out how to get a digital colouring programme, so they don't look like shit.

I'm going back to basics.

Get Gimp or inkscape.
Something is upsetting the ostriches.

Currently I am wiring a fan fiction based in Tosev timeline by Harry Turtledove.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tosev_timeline

The last book in the series left the USA with more advanced technology than the Race with Japan, the Reich and the CCCP not far behind, and I was wondering how the situation would carry on into the future.
The I suddenly realized what the situation reminded me of, 19th century China. I thought I would write a Boxer Rebellion on Home.

China would be played by The Empire.
Britain's role, of the well established and confident power will be played by the USA.
The role of Japan, the new nation trying to prove to everyone else they are a nation to take seriously will be played by the UK.
And the role of the Germans, well that can be played by the Germans.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I am currently working on a relative of this guy.

Also, does anyone know how I should color the bimbujj in this pic without totally destroying the spots?

Oh I had a feeling, do you think you could explain it to me, especially on how to get the pictures onto GIMP to color them in the first place, I never figured that out. :)

Scan it in, open the image, and use the airbrush tool.

The New Dawn. Which wil have at least a rough finished for NaNoWriMo this year ^ ^

BREIF DESCRIPTION

It's about a woman, Dawn, who undergoes a test run of cryogenic freezing technology, and is supposed to wake up 10 years later...but instead, she wakes up 45 Million years later, as the nanotech that was keeping her "pod" alive starts to run down, and is basically in a very strange, very different world. Humans are loooong gone, but as she starts to travel, well...one of the themes of the book is her saying.

"Just because everybody I knew is gone, doesn't mean that everything I believed to be human went with them."

Features include the runnerhawks (quadrupedal birds), bats in the place of flying birds, including some HUGE bats (SHUT UP I KNOW A GIANT BAT COULDN'T CARRY A HUMAN I CAME UP WITH IT IN EIGHTH GRADE), weird creatures, and a new sentient species derived from squirrels whose resemblance to humans at times may not be purely coincidental. Also features heavy drama, action/adventure, some scenes of extreme violence (a cesarean section and a many down-and-dirty fights), and plothole-filling nanotech. Woo.

Oh, and, uh warning. Might contain some inter-species romance. I'm debating whether or not to leave that part in or not. >.>
