| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! So I finally got around to repairing my old desktop computer. It's an old Gateway from 2003, here's some specs on it: Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Processor: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 510MB RAM Page File: 255MB used 991MB available Storage Space: 1.12TB (1120GB) Sound Card: None, sadly it's broken Graphics Card: NVIDIA FX GeForce 5200 If I add a second new graphics card, get a new sound card and some more RAM, and get a new monitor and keyboard, I could have a good gaming PC for under $300. Hell, I could probably get the stuff for a little over $150. Anyone else think this rig was a lucky find and/or good for its day (2003)? |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

I have dual Nvidia 8800 GTS as far as video cards. As far as everything else, I'll have to check with my dad. |

Just go to run on the start menu and enter "dxdiag" (no quotations, obviously). It should give you all that info. |

1.12TB? That's impressive for a 2003 gateway computer! That's impressive for any home computer actually. |

I don't have a terrabyte of RAM, I have a terrabyte of memory space.I have an external hard drive attached to it. The hard drive is 1TB, the internal one that came with the computer is 120GB. |

For 2003? Hell yes it was. Just 60GB was pretty impressive. My friend has an old computer from '95, it has a 6.5GB hard drive in it. You know how much space that was in the mid 90's? Enough to last you the rest of the 90's, that's for sure. |
