| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I have recently been working on an exobiological project of a planet called Drau Ohlsis (a name my four year old niece thought up). Like snaiad, life on this planet has two "heads". But actually, their top head just has eyes and a brain, while the second one is just a mouth. They breath with "land gills" which can function on their planet due to the humid atmosphere and excretions they produce onto them. There are currently two different forms of skeletal organisms: Vertibroids and Skull Bugs. Here is the first lifeform ever drawn for the project. It is an herbivorous Vertibroid called the Savanna Tromper. http://chumzar.deviantart.com/art/Savanna-Tromper-98900204 Here is the first Skull Bug I drew for the project. It is called a Desert Trapper. Also pictured are the Flyer, which is the Trapper's main source of food, and the Guga Tree, the Flyer's main source of food. http://chumzar.deviantart.com/art/Desert-Trapper-Guga-Tree-Flyer-98900947 |
