Now this sounds a bit odd, but the other day I was on deviant art and I stumbled across some Pokemon crap. But I thought to myself when I'm older I should make this into a film, but realistic and mature. So I said, many of these Pocket Monsters look like they could in fact exist, dragons, large reptilians, placental and marsupial mammals, cetaceans, and many other animals. And then I took it a step further, figuring out this civilization is much more advanced than our own and co-exist with non-humans. Medically theyre off the charts, capable of healing minor to severe injuries with little or no scarring (I'm guessing stem cells, white blood cell stimulators, safe growth hormones, efficient vitamins). Technologically superior as well, capable of teleportation of objects, poke balls , pokedex's that are able to wirelessly extract knowledge from databases within seconds. Now in the cartoon, they never really went in depth, but to me I think this "world" has a lot of intergration with japanese cuture, cities ,technology, and to they're very much into their clothing and style. If you look at the characters Ash had emo hair, Brock had that gueddo type of spikey hair, and Misty had her hair in a punk pony-tail type thing. Also, I wish they showed more of the culture,to me they are very much into techno music ( think of Dj Caffeine or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5QYio_kTT0 ) and really enjoy nightlife, i wanna say New York City, Tokyo, and Lad Vegas jammed into one ! But mainly the animals, their evolutionary plausibility, biological-weapons, and how they really work! So the main goal of this topic is to discuss the animals of Pokemon and how they'd really look and act, and to dicuss the civilization and it's people. *Imagines Pikachu dancing to techno *

Pokemon could only work as genetically engineered creatures not naturally evolving ones. |

Well technically there are genetically engineered Pokemon, but most of them are naturally evolved, the realisitic ones can throw leaves,or are made of rock, think of the anime as a mythology. In the "real" world ,most of these Pokemon don't have any supernatural powers and just fight each other physically, but there are ones who breath fire, emit shocks of electricity, emit poisonous or noxious gases, acid spitters, as well as animals that secret sticky substances when younger that allow rocks, sand ,and gravel to stick onto their skin, hence rock types. If you need visual guidance maybe I'll illustrate a few.

Ha ha ha ! those are awesome,I've seen them before, but the Pokemon in this world aren't exact literal interpretations , I'll show you what I means yo ! Now these are just examples not what I exactly mean for them ,but I'm just posting them as examples of what I said before in this post Ill probably draw my own take on all of these and more.Dialga http://86caskin.deviantart.com/art/Arpterix-Royal-Breed-42714778 Mudkip ( HA HA JK) http://flyingdebris.deviantart.com/art/Mudkips-51041116 Aerodactyl http://fyreant.deviantart.com/art/Q-Burd-05-98583855 Torterra http://fyreant.deviantart.com/art/Hystrodon-73861661 Charmeleon ? http://86caskin.deviantart.com/art/OC-Soltrappadon-91183969 Charizard http://86caskin.deviantart.com/art/OC-Tenellpadon-91809861 As far as technology I see things like this Self Driving Service Trucks http://flyingdebris.deviantart.com/art/Future-lunch-mobile-49713151 http://flyingdebris.deviantart.com/art/Unfolding-lunch-truck-unfolded-49713336 Edited by Venatosaurus, Sep 21 2008, 04:44 PM.

Maybe a Pokemon evolves from one stage to the next not because of natural growth like most creatures but rather goes through sopme sort of metamorphosis by encasing itself in some kind of orgnaic cocoon either made up of fur or scales or something else entirely depending on the Pokemon.

Well actually the evolution is just a nickname for growth, as some species change dramatically similar to your metamorphosis hypothesis, but are not encased in a cocoon. I've discredited many other evolutions, as either being related species, or alpha's of certain species. But this is good we're collaborating on how the animals could work Oh and Pokemon like Scyther and Flygon , belong to a weird order of animal that belong to reptiles but have arthropod-like attributes.

If i recall Pokémon things and concepts...it seems that all Pokémon come from a common ancestor... In other things of interest: What about the Nidoking and Nidoqueen evolutionary lines? They are obviously some kind of synapsids...starting from something similar to 'horned rabbits' and end up being massive creatures that have mammalian features, while also looking similar to stegosaurs and ankylosaurs... |

being a former poke-natic in my youth, and still a little bit of a pokemon fan, I've seen many realistic pokemon drawings. Here are 2 of my favorite realistic pokemon artists, because the artists have tried to make the biology of the realistic pokemon believable. http://annaj.deviantart.com/gallery/ http://joshd1000.deviantart.com/gallery I also like to look at fan made pokemon on deviantart, and fan made pokemon websites, and I find that some fan made pokemon, are actually better than the pokemon of the hoenn and sinnoh regions. |

I also see the "Nidos" as synapsids, but quadrapedal resembling spikey gorgonopsids. They usually stand up to intimidate other animals, good job thought the same too. And truteal have you also seen metal reaper's Pokemon, beautiful !!!!! and what was the Pokemons common ancestors, wasn't it supposed to be mew or somethin' ? |

The Pokemon world is kind of odd... For example, dinosaurs are still around represented mostly by theropods, ceratopsians, sauropods and other prehistoric creatures. Almost all mammalian groups are there along with giant insects, dragons, birds and other rare species. How would a realistic pokemon world work? I mean...how biomes and food chains would work? |

Well actually in my interpretation the dinosaurs live in isolated areas and co-exist with larger mammals similar to Spec, but luckily the only carnivorous dinosaur living is Sceptile, but don't actually hunt humans, they mostly eat birds and small mammals. Many of the animals are a bit exaggerated by mythology , like the three legendary birds only have a 8-12 foot wingspan. The insects aren't as big either, and the big ones are either the reptilian/insect order I mentioned earlier,or live in areas that are rich in oxygen. Dragons mainly hunt other large animals too, and many of the other dinosaurian like animals, such as rhydon ,rhyhorn ,the nido family , and the hitmon's are the the sole living representatives of mammal like reptiles that live a bit like land crocs such as the tyranitars,or in the case of the hitmon's are ape-like with the other hitmon's being part of an intricate caste-system. Terror birds, ratites and moa's also exist here too in the case of Blaziken , & Dodrio's. This world is a bit odd , but that's what makes it interesting !!!Oh a couple of the ancient animals aren't cloned, in the case of armaldo, cradily, kabutops, omastar, actually none of them were cloned they just kept on existing and kept on evolving. But there are tons of extinct animals, palkia, dialga, mew, mewtwo, togepi, milotic's are nearly extinct , etc.... This actually fun
