I came here to find amateurs evolutionary biologist fans like myself. Of course there'd be geniuses like John but not THIS many. I'm a film student from NY. Born on 7/28/86. I originally wanted to pursue a career in science for the longest time but didn't know it'd be biology till I did an assignment on Charles Darwin when I was 11. Three years later I decided that making movies was what I really wanted to do. I still never forgot about science and I regularly watch the history channel (like right now as of this writing) and Nat Geo and Discovery and now the Science channel. I'm also interested in astronomy but not as much as biology. Evolutionary biology to be more exact. I was so glad to see others share my passion about biology and speculative evolution here. Surprised that there are all these experts here though. Edited by Yorick, Sep 10 2009, 06:58 PM.

Well, I'm taking biology. And I do a lot of reading outside of school about it. |

I'm so flattered (That is, if you're refering to me, of course).I'm just a 15 year old student; I also have hopes of becoming a movie director/producer, but I think its a quite far fetched dream, given the current circunstances... |

Being portuguese (Portugal has few movie directors, and still the competion is fierce), I'd have to move somewhere else, but given the current crise around here I should be considered lucky for being able to have a complete education (I'll later go to an university in UK or Australia, if I can)

I am a 17 year old Englishman., still getting used to the fact I am not 16. I am currently talking Animal Management at some Collage in the UK. Hopeful I can get a job as Stablehand or if I am very lucky a Zookeeper. Or come to England! Much less paperwork, much less distence to traval, and same monarch. Also much warmer. That made me laugh for some reason. Probably because the monarch, like our President, doesn't actually do anything (the difference being of course that yours is just a figurehead and ours is an idiot). Well I'm a 16 year old junior in high school with hopes to someday become a video game designer. Honestly I'm less of a speculative biologist and more of a futurist or creative storyteller. I thought about joining the military once, as I'm apparently quite the stategic thinker (I say apparently because I never noticed until it was pointed out to me after we played Mafia in one of my classes once). Then I realized that I didn't want to give up my humanity for a place in some text book or a few years of glory in the US Government. So I decided that I would become a writer. The funny thing I learned about writing is that I can't write a novel for crap. Sure I can do some short stories like Asimov, but I can't find a way to get my ideas across through words. So I went to my other passion; video games. A way of telling a story through a fun and interactive game. With my story told, I can now point out that I am; 1. Wise well beyond my years. 2. Have read more books on war and politics than Machiavelli himself 3. Easily distracted when I'm not interested in what I am doing (bad for school) 4. And finally, that I am a code monkey and very lazy. And I rant a lot, as you can tell. |

Well...let me see. I'm a 19 year old college student with a lot of high hopes to someday become a comic book artist working for Marvel Comics. Besides the fact that i've created a comic book universe from scratch (complete with fauna and an Age of Empires-Meets-Paraworld kind of political atmosphere), i tend to speculate about wildlife in the future and those bizarre scenarios involving monstruous lifeforms (heck, i'm a big fan of the Cthulhu Mythos). |

I sculpt, play viola, draw, and make cladograms of things like pasta, candy, and Darwinian aliens. I'm also an amateur invert zoologist. |

Well, I'm 34, a homemaker, was married once but decided I didn't like it because I like to travel and do my own thing. People call me crazy and I guess I would have to say I agree with them. Anyone who drives to Reno to have dinner is definately crazy!!!! But it's a tribute to how much I love my freedom. I am an artist and have actually been creating imaginary animals since I was 7 years old. I got interested in turning these imaginary animals into animals of tomorrow in 1992. Of course a lot of changes had to be made to the animals. My job consists of doing illustration for a small company that does stories for children and young adults. It's the most fun job I've ever had! I want to go to school to learn animation some day, and I will when I can. Just not ready for it all right now. |

I'm a 24 year old first year PhD student in evolutionary anthropology. I plan on conducting comparative studies of primate (including human) social and sex-specific behaviors. I don't participate here as much as I could - largely because I feel there's still so much we don't know about the evolution if existing animals that to speculate on the evolution of unknown future animals involves far more possibilities than my little brain can handle! |

Credentials? I dropped the ball on purpose for art school. I think that gives me negative credentials. 18 years old high school graduate with a full-time job at a Grocery store and a creationist boyfriend. It actually works out a lot better than you think. But I love the concept of evolution and devour biology (OM NOM NOM) and information, the stranger the better. I love bizarre animals, both real and fictional, and I'm an avid sci-fi enthusiast. And by that, I mean "I'm in four Star Wars RPs and I don't play a single human". I'm also trying to write a novel, involving a speculative future and some sci-fi jargon and...yeah. I think I stopped adhering to the lays of nature once I made up the batallions, but that's okay. I'm also very interested in genetics, and the prospect of genetic manipulation. This is mostly due to the fact that my genetics are not the kind that lead to a long, sane, healthy life, and even at eighteen I'm already feeling some of the effects of evolution's backwash. I'd like to figure out why. |

I'm kind of like Parasky myself. I am a fourteen year old high school fresham and I got interested in biology ever since I knew what the animals were called. I write science fiction in my spare time. Over the years, I have had a few world design and future creature projects I will post here when I get a chance. I read a lot and can't remember most of it. This is why I usually have a wikipedia window open when I log into this forum.
