| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. I had a thought. Does anybody remember the pladcoderm fish from the Devonian, like Dunkleosteus? Well, what if they were able to get on land first? I imagined a T-Rex like biped with fins for this... What do you think? |

I've seen it, and I only have this to complain about: tripod? I honestly think it's more likely for Earth-based life to go on either 2 or 4 legs. Other than that, the Idea's pretty neat. ^^ |

Maybe the third leg was the tail? At that stage of evolution the number of limbs may still be malleable. Just like the number of fingerbones. |

Oh, no, that's ok! By all means, thanks! ^^ Sorry if I take a while to post - school, y'know... So yeah, just thought it couls be interesting if placoderms managed to evolve on land. I had this weird idea of a Dunkleosteus-like thing runnung around like a T-rex, so... |

Well, by the time you've got an armored theropod-like 'D-rex' running around, you're going to have a ton of other different creatures inhabiting the surface, all descended from that one, adventurous pladcoderm. The real challenge would be creating the LINE that goes from point A to point B. It's probably possible, but that doesn't mean it would happen quickly! |

i think that there is gonna be a longer amount of time than our timeline, to get from amphibians too any thing dino or mammal like. |

EXACTLY! That's why I made this thread! I need some ideas on making the line, so I decided to get some tips from professionals! Maybe even more fish-things can be added to the group! Oh, thanks for the "D-Rex" idea. (It's either that name or "Coelocrunch". I haven't exactly decided yet. '^^) And I wasn't expecting it to go quickly. If anything, D-Rex'll probably found around like 20 million years BC. Like I said, I need some good pointers. (Please go on, this is getting good! ^-^ ) |
