| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Current Rules 1. You many choose any creature to work on and post any many as you want (10 per generation). 2. While bacteria and viruses do exist, they aren't covered, with Protocytelia being the first eukaryotic life. 3. Generation two shall be the only week in which single-celled life can be evolved from Protocytelia with each one being a global genus. On generation 3, multicellular life is evolved from them. 4. You many only evolve from a previous generation or before. (Not the same generation). 5. Each generation has 10 species. 6. There is NO time limit (such as 1 per day) to do them so each generation is done when it reaches 10 species. 7. Each week is done when it reaches 7 generations no matter if it takes 7 days or 7 months. 8. At the end of each week the game shall be paused so I can post the species on the wiki, update the map and see what species have gone extinct. 9. To apply for the game, please make a species evolved from a previous one and post it onto the Application Thread. When it's accepted, please repost it in the game thread(This one). 10. Images must also contain the generation number. 11. Each species/genus must have the following information filled out so it may be added to the Wiki. (IMAGE) Common Name (Scientific Name) Creator: [ that would be you ] Ancestor: [ see ancestor ] Size:[Any Species under 1 millimetre is microscopic) Habitat: Diet: Reproduction: Description: [ any other information not stated above ] The starting organism is protocytelia: ![]() Creator: Vailnoff Week/Generation: 1/1 Habitat: Tidepool Size: 10 micrometers Diet: Varied Reproduction: Binary Fission For billions of years, the third planet from the star Cytelbearn has been barren and devoid of all life. Yet now, a cometary impact upon the planet has brought water and the micro-organism Protocytelia. While it is small now, its descendants have the potential to bloom and bring life to the planet... I happen to use Photoshop, but a free alternative that's just as good is Gimp. If you want to join the project, just make a post in the Application Thread. |
