| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. The Compendium of the Imagination This is a long-term project which will just be done for fun. It's setting up a universe while telling some sort of story doing so. It's new to me but I'm willing to make this the best I can and producing the best universe I can both for me and you to enjoy. It's a multiversal project, meaning there are several dimensions important in this new project I will be creating, and I will be showing stuff from all of these. These are the dimensions that make up this bigger universe: The 'Real' World - This is essentially our world, and essentially the only thing that changed here is that our main character will be living here, he is a young dude, about and around his twenties, but that's virtually the only real fictional stuff that has changed. The only thing that will change here are the future events which are caused by the story itself. The Augmented Earth - A world in which superhumans exist and superheroes are the protectors of this blue planet. Extraterrestrial activity is not unlikely to occur from time to time both threatening the planet but also helping it forward into a technological race. It's a strange place and not too discovered at this time. The Enchanted Realm - The realm of fairy tale and folklore characters, even though they may not be like you remember them to be. All these characters exist within the same boundaries and their stories have interacted greatly making this a thightly woven network of all these characters we think we know so well. This realm has been ravaged by a major war in the past, which shattered the enchanted empire and turned it's many smaller lands into separate countries and kingdoms. Amazing things happened in the meantime but now a new war is brewing as old enemies join forces and the new kingds of these kingdoms have to unite the Enchanted Empire again to bring peace to these realms. Erudaria, the realm beneath the Stars - This strange place is also greatly shrouded in mystery and unknown places. It's the realm wherein my own fantasy creatures live and which will be the main focus of this Compendium. This place is free and open as tribes and kingdoms live beneath the magical clouds. (literally) The old spirits that used to rule the place are unhappy and are brewing a great revenge to take back these big lands. Leader of these spirits is the almighty Shustu, an ancient parasitic being who needs the life of these lands to grow and revel on their energy. It's a wild place and it sounds like an awful and brutal place, but if you look closely you see the opposite is true as it has many wonderful things left to discover. Olympian realm - The realm of myths and gods, which will be further explained when it's stories come into play. Closely linked with the Enchanted Realm and Earth, having a triforce upon their mount Olympusses. This is the project, the lands that we will be exploring. It's a long shot project but one I'm fully applied to do. It's all my imagination combined into a single project and I'm really pumped of what I will be able to make out of this. * Story coming soon, will update whenever I implemented this in * Table of Contents

(first bit originally posted on the july 24, but due to a misstake in the topic's layout had to move it to this post to make room for the real intro )A bright blue sky shows overhead through the green canopy which originated from a mix of oak, birch and beech. There was activity as an older man seemed to be coming from the town with a big backpack. He walked up to a small shed on the side of the road. He sat his backpack down and nailed a poster to it with slow but firm swings. When he finished he looked at the picture with sadness in his eyes. He picked up his backpack again, slowly backed away and resumed his trek further into the forest. Miles and miles from there a wooden puppet just finished talking to a pair of shady animals, apparently a fox and a cat. They all seemed to be in good spirits, the wooden puppet clearly showing his excitement to the world while the animals seemed to be happy the puppet was coming with them as they seemed to be resuming their journey together heading into the forest, towards a strange city on a faraway hill. A white house in the forest seemed to harbour a lovely young girl with wonderful curly turquoise hair seemed to be hanging up the wash accompanied by a white and grey silhouette of a cricket, deep in conversation about something important and gravely. In a faraway ocean a gigantic shadow crept under the ocean towards a giant merchant ship clearly preparing itself to attack. Moments later a giant shark jumped out of the water, brown with huge crimson stripes over it which crushed the ship with it’s jaws before simply falling back into the ocean again. Back on the shed the poster is drifting in the wind. Mancanti ... mancanti mio figlio. I suppose there’s a problem here ... ![]() ![]() First off I would like to mention that I know my humans are not that great, especially not realistic ones. I’m still practicing human figures so I may get better every time. Also perspective drawing, as in the working bench here, isn’t my best either so that also may look wonky, even though I think I did a pretty great job. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Geppetto is a hardworking man, one who has been through hardship a lot, especially in his early years. He is someone who sets others right in front of himself, and as such has earned a tremendous amount of respect in his village. His wife died not too long ago, so he’s been sad every day since. This is when his good friend Doctor Cavalla stepped in and went to the Sandman to ask him what Geppetto’s greatest dream was. Apparently this was getting a son and as such the Sandman, along with his apprentice the Turquoise fairy and Doctor Cavalla set up a spell to give life to inanimate objects. The spell succeeded, even though there were some obstacles, and they were able to turn a piece of wood from the Galaxy tree into a piece of wood with a soul. This piece of wood was delivered to Geppetto’s neighbour Antonio and asked to give it as a present to Geppetto himself, wth the message that this was beautiful puppet wood and geppetto had picked up the hobby recently. That night Sandman send Geppetto a dream in which Geppetto saw himself carve a puppet out of a piece of wood and as such the next morning Antonio was delighted with a visit from Geppetto, asking for a piece of spare wood. You all know what happened after, good old Geppetto went to carve Pinocchio out of this piece of wood, which you seem him doing here. Little did he knew the biggest adventure of his life had just started. |

(Oyster man, Peashyjah and Zorcuspine thanks for the likes :D)![]() Pinocchio is a mischievous boy, but he’s made out of wood, what do you think? He has an enchanted and lovely heart on the inside which he just needs to learn, and sometimes the hard way. Pinocchio learned it the hard way for sure! Currently he is travelling the lands as a vagabond, lured away by a pair of bandits. He meets people along the way and has many adventures in a strange land. He gets almost burned and almost hanged. He lost some of his hard-earned money to a foolish Surely things aren’t rolling Pinocchio’s way. He is now in the house of a lovely girl who was willing to house him and Pinocchio’s happier than ever... |

@Zorcuspine, yes I drew these myself, thansk for the compliment ![]() All the others also thanks for the support so far ![]() Doctor Cravalla was once a renowned doctor in the region, always being known to deliver a rightful treatment to their patients and to never swindle any of his patients. He was a selfish guy and always was there when his friends needed him, a quality that made him not only respectful as doctor but also as a general good dude to have in your life. His past was scarred as his father always kept him at home, stating that that was his place to be and the woods and the village were much too dangerous places to venture into alone. This made him a little bit angry at times and most of all guilty that he could no be the friend he could be, stuck at home. His life changed as a woodworker, a friend of his father, came to him and frequently took the kid out to the forest and learned him to use healing herbs and other things found in the forest to make food, medicines and other useful consumables. They become loyal friends in the process, despite their clear age difference and they continue to be up to this day. His friend was devastated by the loss of his wife and as such Cravalla went on a journey to find the wish of his friend. This took him to the castle of a dream collector known as Sandman, which was actually just a strange being from a different dimension being projected into this dimension. This being could easily find out which dream the woodworker valued the most as he was the one able to bring dreams to persons in the first place. This dream turned out to be having a son and so they found out a way to bring the woodworker this wish. Acquiring a branch from the legendary Galaxy tree they performed a ritual which would give the block of wood his sapience, only there was a price to this spell. One had to give up his humanity to give something else its humanity. Doctor Cravalla decided to take this heavy task upon him. He figured the woodworker once gave his life for him and now he had the chance to redeem this debt towards his great friend. As such he gave his humanity away for the enchanted wood while he turned into a cricket that had been sitting in the grass below the galaxy tree. After the wood had been brought to the woodworker and the puppet had been carved Doctor Cravalla entered the house, looking for a way to signal towards his friend. He didn’t get a chance to do so though as he found Pinocchio there, who struck him in the head with a mallet, killing the doctor in the process. Luckily, due to him switching bodies, his soul had become sort of resilient towards departing and as such his soul became a ghost, haunting the lands and places that Pinocchio visits. He is still selfish though as he never blamed Pinocchio for anything and thinks the fact he was killed was him being careless and not listening to his dad’s advice all those years back and as such still tries to help Pinocchio. He is currently living with the fairy with turquoise hair, trying to find a way to let him turn back into a human being. |
