Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Many decades from now, scientists opened the doors. This is known.

Many of those worlds, they found, were familiar. The creatives of our world had unknowingly been catching glimpses of the Multiverse this whole time. The first human multidimensional explorers stepped through the veil, and found themselves greeted by a forest, a hundred-acres long.

But many of the doors that were opened led to more unfamiliar, alien places. Worlds that were like ours, but with historical or cultural differences, or where evolution had taken different paths, and other, stranger Earths, where the natural laws that we know and take for granted function differently.
Initially, the only worlds to be fully explored and charted were the more familiar ones: the "popular" worlds of movies and literature, and the worlds similar to our own. This was largely done for the safety of the explorers; whilst many of these worlds did hold some surprises, we already knew what the dangers were, and could prepare accordingly.
But eventually, this was not enough. The human urge to discover, to seek new things, became too great.
Despite the potential risks, the Pevensie Expeditions were authorized.
The mission: to explore and document the more alien Earths, study their flora, fauna, and cultures, should they be present, determine and collect potentially valuable resources, and eventually, to take our first steps in securing our place in the Multiverse.

What follows is a history of the Pevensie Expeditions that occurred before humanity's downfall, as well as examinations of the many worlds those brave explorers discovered.

All the doors are closed, now, but through the Pevensie Files, we can still peak through the keyhole...
