Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

You may be asking yourself, "Gosh golly Oyster Man, what's a Deus Plani?"

Well my little friend, Deus Plani is a forum based role-playing game not unlike Apotheosis. Many moons ago, in the distant year of 2015, I conceived to start a god game to pass the time till the proper-pothis returned. Fortunately that time has come, but rather than simply close down Deus Plani, we have elected to give it a new coat. As one game rises from the ashes, the other drinks some coffee, tosses back a xanax, and hops back into the action.

Now, you might also be saying to yourself, "Oyster Man, you flat-tire you! We already have one god game! Why should we play a second?"

Ah, well you see, Deus Plani is not wholly a one-to-one replica of Apotheosis, and makes some notable differences. While the first iteration of Deus Plani was set in the Paleolithic, as is the newest of Apotheosis, "Deus Plani: Avocations of the Gods will be set in the late-neolithic/chalcolithic (copper age). Among other things, we got:
  • Flora and Fauna from all over the world
  • Cro Magnons and Neanderthals
  • Beast Races that players can create
  • The ability for humans to become fantasy races based on the actions of gods
  • Gods that don't need followers!

You can read up on the player guide here:

Now, things are still in the process of transitioning from the paleolithic to the neolithic, so it isn't quite open to new players just yet. Mostly. Currently I am letting our current players kind of retcon their past actions, and do some world building. Essentially a really big event happened that made the gods go into hibernation for 2.5 thousand years. When Round 9 picks up they'll be coming back to see how their people have developed in their absence, and new players will be able to join in as per normal. However, I may be allowing up to three new players to draft an "old" god, and start off with their little slice of the world pre-developed for them.

The big things I would be looking for in new "old" gods are one of each of the following:

A cro magnon people built around a tropical rainforest region.

A neanderthal people of any sort

A beast race people, either brand new or recycling one of the ones used by our no-longer active players. Choices would include otters, crows, mammoths, kinkajous, and quolls.

No guarantees however. If you're interested, you should go here:

With any luck, Round 9 will be up on the night of the 24th. Though, and this is something of a forewarning, I am notoriously bad at maintaining my release dates, and there tends to be significant lengths of time in between rounds. If that's something you're not okay with, I certainly won't hold it against you for not playing. On top of that, I'm going to be limiting the total player count to around 15 people. This isn't necessarily set in stone, but much more than that and managing the game becomes difficult.

I realize I may have been a bit unclear on things, so If I need to clearify anything let me know. :)

I will get proper information on how to join the game (hopefully) on the 24th when Round 9 goes live.

(Edited the title back to the original. Got to thinking that the change may have been a bit petty. Sorry!)

Hey guys,

Bit of an update and reminder here. The game is still scheduled to launch sometime late Sunday night my time (american central). If you're wanting to get in as an old god, the sooner you do that the better. The beast god spot has potentially been taken.

Archi may be reviving Norsulrusk - the god of Mammoths!

Okiedoke, so, yeah...

Things are taking... a bit longer than I expected they would. I've only gotten a few of you guys done, though not for lack of trying! I guess I just didn't quite realize how in depth I'd have to go to do justice to the culture's you guys have been making.

That said, its super fun, and I can't wait till you guys get to see how your stuff is interacting with each other.
To make up for the fact that I can't post round 9 tonight, I will be PMing you guys as soon as I finish writing yours.

Almost all of you have dogs now.
One of you has wooden swords that can slice through flesh with blades sharper than surgical steel.
One of you has the bow.
One of you has mastery over the sky.
Two of you have magic that assists your people on the day to day basis.
One of you has learned metallurgy.
One of you has people near as tall as giants.
One of you have dominated the islands.
One of you have long ships perfect for raiding.

But remember that while the gods are away, the demons will play.

Also, remember that if you want to get in on the action as an old god, I need your info as soon as possible.
