Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Just a fantasy world that has been stuck in my head for a long time. I intend to write some novels out of it, but...eh, procrastination beats desire to be famous.

Some Concepts Of Pandhokavahlia

Pandhokavahlia, henceforth PKHL, is a world where magic exists. It always has, however only beings of a certain intellectual calibre have been able to manipulate the forces of magic. Dolphins use it to hunt, chimps use it to fight, and crows use it to make life easier. But the only beings with the ability to unlock the full power of magic on this world are Dragons, crocodile-line archosaurs that once ruled the world. To them, magic is innate, and they can use it from birth, although it takes years of training to master magic. Man can also use it, but unlike dragons, most men are unable to use magic to such a high power, although certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Mana

Mana is the main force that allows beings to do magic. It is an ability to use the mind to manipulate reality (suspension of disbelief, I know, I know) that manifests in certain individual humans and all dragons. Humans can be classified into theee classes. 70% of the population are "normals", men who cannot use magic, who live their lives like humans on Earth. However, 27% of the population are known as "mages". These men have the ability to use magic, although the amount they use is limited by a natural limit in the amount of mana one can have. Finally, the last 3% are the rare "metas", who are able to use infinite magic since their body has no mana cap. They are however bound by memory, meaning they can only master so many styles of magic as their minds are if the same capacity as normal humans.

Dragons

As mentioned earlier, dragons are croc line archosaurs, probably notosuchians (look, its spec!) with the innate ability to do magic. Unlike humans, dragons do not have a mana cap, and are able to use many more forms of mana due to superior memories. They evolved in South America, alongside an assemblage of completely different megafauna (more spec!) and spread around the world at the dawn of the Pleistocene when they encountered man. Worshipped as gods, the dragons took advantage of mankind, but as man grew wiser they fought against the dragon exploitation and resulted in a thousand year war between man and dragon, before the two were brought together by a young man who adopted a baby dragon after its mother was slain. They taught man advanced forms of magic, and in return fought rogue dragons and enemy empires, being a valuable ally to man, until a fanatical ruler killed nearly all the dragons after one of them killed his father. The survivours sealed away their magic and minds, transforming themselves into the tiny dragonets to avoid presecution and hiding away in the forests.

This is probably the main concepts that have been fleshed out about PKHL, I'll put more stuff when I think about it and naybe even write a couple of short tales here.
