| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! As much as I don't want to say it, I think this is going to go down the road of the TV show at worst, at best Neil Degrasse Tyson's cosmos. The words "action adventure" and "mobile games" makes this highly suspect. There is always a chance this won't even get of the ground, but we'll have to wait and see. Who knows, maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised. |

Speculative Evolution Projects- Other Relevant Work- Final SE Lifelist standings BREAKING NEWS We interrupt your regular programming to bring you this cutting edge report. ATTENDANCE DROPS DRASTICALLY ON SE SERVER This past Monday on Discord, famous server Speculative Evolution took a hit in the attendance office when it's offline member list suddenly reappeared. Mods scrambled to rectify the situation, but unfortunately there was little anyone could do. Server member Ivan was asked what he thought of the situation. "So long as Flisch, lord of machines and scion of Urborg lives, all will be well". SE, (in)famous for it's eccentric userbase, has recently been spiraling downward, and now we have hard conformation of the decline. Moderator "High Lord" Icthyander states "There is nothing to be concerned about, Discord is merely changing its UI again", but members are beginning to suspect the honesty of their staff. Stay tuned, we'll be back with more at 11. | |

Some were cool though, like "falconfly" and "carakiller". But yeah, most were like you are saying, and some were downright lazy. "Scrofa". C'mon, isn't the scientific name of the wild boar Sus scrofa? |

That's not a very high standard of best, honestly. It was a poor tribute to the original and mostly unnecessary air time for that prick. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

I'm looking forward to this even if I don't know what to expect-- it's not every day that we see a television series based on speculative evolution. I loved the original when it first came out in '02 or '03; along with Dixon's books and The Flight of Dragons, it was my first introduction to the concept of speculative biology. This might be too much to hope for, but maybe they'll revise some of the creatures to make them a bit more plausible. Edited by Sayornis, May 17 2016, 09:55 PM.

Took the words straight out of my mouth. Though I thought the new cosmos was okay, it wasn't great. As such, I think the best we can hope for is something so equally low-end mediocre. But, as I said before, maybe it better than even we could ever hope for. Very strong emphasis on maybe. Edited by Dr Nitwhite, May 18 2016, 05:24 AM.
