Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Beautiful Humanity
The air to the universal throne

The story of the Human Race has merely flowed among the tide of Time, and humanity has been on the shores of Discovery. Only recently has humanity been able to stretch out to other worlds. Some are covered in ice, others in fire. A few worlds are covered in water, others completely barren. Some were chocked in clouds, others baked alive by their home stars. They merely colonised them all. Even the ones uninhabitable, Humanity made her mark on the galaxy, her arms stretching out to all worlds. Her empire thought they were indestructible, on the brink of making Galacitcal Domination. Although, enviously staring amongst the stars, was a Watcher. Seemingly as old as time, humanity would see them as their rivals. Even so, they were unprepared for the slaughter that was to come. Although, one thing: How did this happen? Who left their marks on the Universe, to be remembered for the rest of time? What exactly are the Watchers?

Well, we’ll answer that a little later. For now, embark yourself for a journey that lasts a couple of thousand years, as we explore how humanity conquered all sorts of environments, from that of empty space, to methane dominated moons in the solar system.

This is the story of all this; from humanities cloning to her conquering her once unthinkable solar system. This the story of her expansion from day one, this is one about cloning, space travel, one sided wars, and genetic manipulation. This is also the story of intelligence, how some humans managed to achieve god like levels of raw power.

This is humanities furthest stretch yet, a journey of Self-Discovery, with multiples of worlds to explore. From the dust of fallen empires shall arise new monstrosities. Welcome to the story of Beautiful Humanity.

I REGRET NOTHING

What if denizens of the United States call themselves 'Americans' so as to avoid being called USAliens?

Interesting
Thanks! I always wanted to do something with Posthumans, especially reading All Tomorrows by Nemo Ramjet. But, by Posthumans are going to be original.

I: Terraforming of Worlds; Humanities first conquest

Within the next thousand years or so, your descendants could be amongst the stars. Technological advancements made it possible to be where no one would even think of 10,000 years ago. Notable advancements include the terraforming of worlds, especially their cousins; Venus and Mars. Terraforming was always within the minds of the highest of scientists, the process of terraforming worlds using advanced technology. The process of Terraforming is a complex one. You’d have to change the orbit of the planet, or, more likely, change the orbits of Comets and Asteroids so that they hit the appropriate planet. Once this was done, the Comets and Asteroids would provide water for the planets, much like they did for early Earth. It doesn’t take just one or two Comets, however. It takes many thousands upon thousands of Comets to bring in enough water so that the first plants could be introduced. These would likely be Lichens or Mosses, and would clear up the atmosphere of most Carbon Dioxide. However, the process of clearing up all the carbon would also take thousands of years. By this time, the first colonists would be able to step foot on these bizarre, new endeavours. The first Martians wouldn’t be astronauts; they would be bare footed people on soft, red soil, gazing up into a freshly cleared Martian sky.

The effects of living on mars is noticeable within the next 4 – 20 generations. The descendants of the first Martians were taller, with larger lungs to cope with their larger sizes. Remarkably, these Martians were 3 meters tall within the 10th generation, but this was as tall as they could get. The Martian colonies proved to be more promising than Earth did. By the year 4000, 73% of Humanity had lived on mars, spelling doom for old Earth. Even so, Humanity needed to spread, as, by that time, the Human Population creeped towards 20 billion, most of which lived on mars. The planets Mercury and Venus were used as Mining Planets (Venus was terraformed more or less 100 years earlier), but still they needed to expand. By the year 4700, the last human child was born. Then, at the age of 8, the child died of Inbreeding. All humans from then on would be Martians.

A new breed of human was made, one adapted to be able to live without food and water for 10 years or so. They are surprisingly tall people, and are called Nomads. They spend their lives travelling the Solar System, and, to a further extent, the Galaxy. Although, amongst their journeys, the Nomads were being watched…

II: Amongst the Stars

The Nomads are unique creatures. They had large sized brains, to help them compute the shear vastness of the Universe. Created out of the remnants of the Martians, Nomads quickly colonized the Solar System. Favoured worlds included Titan, Enceladus, Ganymede, Europa, Callisto, Io and Triton. These Nomads adapted to worlds of presumably darkness. However, occasional views (Like those of Titan, Europa and Io) provided beautiful views, with landscapes of methane and volcanoes, these worlds made the Nomads feel almost at home. However, the domain of the ancestral Solar System wouldn’t be enough. Some colonies of Nomads expanded beyond the solar system, and colonized their neighbour, the Alpha Centauri system.

The first home of the Nomads beyond the Solar System, Alpha Centauri, in all its glory.

The first world that was colonized by the Nomads was the system of Alpha Centuari. This triple star system was hard to adjust to. Continuous light surrounded them, and they needed to adapt.

In the long run, the Nomads conquest of the Galaxy wouldn't be prepared for what was to come. Because, hidden in the darkness of the universe, were the Watchers...
