Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Based on this post by Mr Mysterio. Whilst the writing is mine, the crux is his; he sowed the seed, I merely pissed on it and saw what grew. As such, ideas expressed here beyond Mysterio's post are my own interpretations of his concept.

Großmann's Report Draft

Newspaper Article, 2002

Any criticism of the writing style is appreciated. I chose mainly formal texts here because of a lack of experience writing informally. I will be happy to answer any questions people have.

I've already said this in our PMs like a bunch of times but I love, love what you've done with my weird little idea. You took a weird dream I had and made it into a believable world and I can't freaking wait to see what else you do with it, dude.

Coming Soon/To be Rebooted:

How To Hunt Gods - Everything you need to know about Gods and the art of God-killing.

Intrazoology - The world of semi-corporeal lifeforms. A world you walk through every day, without even knowing it.

The Dungeonverse - Magical creatures forced to adapt in huge, underground caverns, while surface-dwelling humans go dungeoneering for treasure.

Crossover - A mish-mash of worlds, with Earth smack in the middle of the chaos. What could go wrong?

The report draft reads like an SCP article. It's chilling, really.
F.I.N.D.R Field Incident Logs
A comprehensive list of all organisms, artifacts, and alternative worlds encountered by the foundation team.

At the present time, concepts within are inconsistent and ever shifting.

(And this is just the spec related stuff)

Wow, I'm glad that you found it chilling : )
In general, I wanted it to read as impassive and analytical, though I was debating trying to show a bit of Großmann's personality as well. That may show up in future writing.

I feel like Großmann himself is pretty analytical and impersonal, already. Not a big fan of emotions, that guy.

This part in particular really caught my eye.

Blood transfusions between individuals with GßC and those without GßC have not led to unaffected individuals acquiring GßC.

What did he have to do to find that out?

I love this! It's really well written body horror and not too gory or dramatic, either.
I do art sometimes.

"if you want green eat a salad"

Projects:
Amammalia: A strange place where mammals didn't make it and the land is, once again, dominated by archosaurs.

Oceanus: An endless sea dotted with islands, reefs, and black holes. Literally endless, literal black holes.

What did he have to do to find that out?
To answer that, I'd like to turn your attention to this extract from the newspaper article:

However, with Großmann still currently serving a prison sentence for unethical practices, it's unlikely that research will be undertaken lightly.

I may write a short biography of Großmann in one of the later extracts.

Großmann himself isn't entirely emotionless- his lack of emotion in the text is due to a mixture of trying to sound professional and the scientific report format favoring a lack of personal involvement.

Also, if there are any aspects you'd like me to cover, or any questions you have, feel free to say so!

Yeah, that really sealed the creepiness for me.

No updates tonight, but I hope to churn a few out tomorrow. If there's a particular topic you want covered- terminology, the Akephaloi, Mr Großmann etc- let me know in the next 9-10 hours so that I can work on it during my train journey.

I'm interested to see if life for the detached is complete hell or if it's about on par with other minorities.

I'd figure it's the same as other minorities, in that how bad it is for them depends on where they live and what kind of communities they live in. Judging from the rules for the detached forum, I'd guess that the disabled community is probably the most welcoming to them.

So I guess this is the world where those supernatural creatures such as the penanggalan can have a real basis...
Would be fun to see those here

Yeah, it's pretty varied. Even the reaction from the disabled community is mixed.

What Mysterio said. I want to make something addressing the high number of deatached beings (specifically detached females) in Southeast Asian Mythology.
