| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! I don't know if this should be here but... let's start. I hope this will help those who want to create a planet capable of inhabiting life orbiting another star. And when I say "Complex" I mean Multi-cellular. O class Life: Negative Complex Life: Impossible Pros: Awesome. Cons: Radiation, low life span doesn't give life a chance to evolve more complex life. B class Life: Negative Complex Life: Impossible Pros: A beautiful blue star, gigantic habitable zone. Cons: Same for O class A class Life: Thin possibility Complex Life: Very rare (except when it comes to Eo ... or is it?)Pros: Good whitish color and a spacious habitable zone. Cons: Gas giants likely to form around these stars (no terrestrials ), short lifespan, radiation.F class Life: Possible Complex Life: Very rare (except for Darwin IV )Pros: Close to sun like stars Cons: Radiation G class Life: Absolutely Complex Life: YOU DON'T SAY (this means possible )Pros: Very long life span, enough for life to develop into complex life, good stellar flux. Cons: AND HIS NAME WAS JOHN CENAAAAAAAAAA... Just kidding, thinner habitable zone than those of the O, B, and A stars. K class (dwarf) Life: Possible Complex Life: Possible Pros: Most common type of stars in the galaxy, if not, in the Universe, low radiation, very very VERY long lifespan. Cons: Smaller habitable zone (to be verified), higher chance of tidally locked planets, which might not really help at the development of stars, high stellar variation, low stellar flux. M class (dwarf) Life: Possible Complex Life: Possible Pros: VERY common in the Universe. Same pros like the K stars. Cons: Tidal locking very common, lower stellar flux, low energy for life. Neutron/Pulsar Life: Nope Complex Life: Oh Hell NO! Pros: um... Cons: Radiation, radiation, radiation and radiation (this means that this star generates high dose of radiation, even worse than O, B, A and F stars). Black Holes Life: Forget about it Complex Life: ![]() Pros: really? Cons: Gamma radiation, no light, accretion disc likely to destroy planet (except Gargantua... ok that's the last time I'll do the "except" thingy), no such planet like Miller's would exist! This is a little comic I know. Alright, so after that, it seems that the best options are F (maybe), G, K and M stars. Hope this MIGHT help

“There's a tree," Starflight said, jumping to his feet. "In the forest." "No way," Glory said. "A tree in the forest?” "Ce corps qui s'appelait et qui s'appelle encore le saint empire romain n'était en aucune manière ni saint, ni romain, ni empire." -Voltaire "So if you wake up in the morning and it's a particularly beautiful day you'll know we made it." -Capa "One of those capsules hit a wing." Victor said. "Had to do an emergency landing." He pointed to a crumpled plane a couple dozen meters behind him and shrugged. "Not my most elegant landing." -me in Flisch's story "Spec Evo: Void Entry" (Act 3) "but by rule 34 of the multiverse, if it exists, there’s a world full of it." -Tet "I must ask you to leave now." -Everyone (not realy though) in Flisch's story "Spec Evo: Void Entry" Projects Status My Blog (SE Blog) Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyBzYPIsLp0uHoPtT6ZEyww | |
