| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. Which proves my point; everything thats not according to Islam is killed, and christians and jews are lucky for being mentioned in the book. As for any other large tetrapod non-muslim/dromedary camel lifeform, well, they're screwed there. |

Egypt doesn't even give human rights or citizenship to Atheists. You have a choice of Christian, Muslim, or Jew (which will be printed on your ID). There is no other, no none of the above. This ID gives you citizenship, but more importantly it gives you human rights. I think that if the USA really wants to help the world, it needs to stop messing with the state of 3rd world countries and do something about these 1st world countries like Egypt and Israel that are commiting horrible international crimes. |

We should all aspire to die surrounded by our dearest friends. Just like Julius Caesar. "The Lord Universe said: 'The same fate I have given to all things from stones to stars, that one day they shall become naught but memories aloft upon the winds of time. From dust all was born, and to dust all shall return.' He then looked upon His greatest creation, life, and pitied them, for unlike stars and stones they would soon learn of this fate and despair in the futility of their own existence. And so the Lord Universe decided to give life two gifts to save them from this despair. The first of these gifts was the soul, that life might more readily accept their fate, and the second was fear, that they might in time learn to avoid it altogether." - Excerpt from a Chanagwan creation myth, Legends and Folklore of the Planet Ghar, collected and published by Yieju Bai'an, explorer from the Celestial Commonwealth of Qonming Tree That Owns Itself

Sadly, USA is runned by conservative christians; the only reason why a new Inquisition hasn't started is because its reputation would be very bad, and there's still a huge number of non-christians in America that could join forces and kick their ass. |

a) That's not really true because there are many quite peaceful Muslims. b) The United States is not run by conservative Christians, its run by elected representatives. A majority of Americans are actually liberal and the number of atheists is still growing also, so... Plus just because you are a conservative Christian it doesn't mean you are a discriminatory bigot... if you actually came here and tried to get to know the people here, you'd realize its not so bad as you seem to interpret it. |

And when I was saying "everything thats not according to Islam is killed" I was mentioning Iran and related countries, not elsewhere in the globe; true there are religious people capable of accepting different beliefs and stuff, but I doubt Iran will change its atitude very soon. |

Sorry that you have to deal with the attitude of the south towards atheists. Hope all goes well! Sorry I couldn't be of much help. |

I think this is a great opportunity. You could take it seriously and write an impassioned speeched from an atheistic point of view, shake the class up a bit, and demonstrate that you don't need a god to have a "soul." Or coming from the other side, make it satiric and use a bit of linguistic judo to throw their absurdities back at them. The Flying Spaghetti Monster and the Invisible Pink Unicorn approve of this message. |

So then, here's result: So I walked in and asked what we did yesterday. He gave me the assignment and then said "oh right, we wrote sermons too but don't worry about it." Turns out that it wasn't worth any points and that the professor was against the idea too but said it was part of freedom of speech. I suspect that he too may be Atheist, but I can't be sure. The sermon readings did introduce me to a couple of people I didn't know were Atheist. Turns out that the sermon didn't have to be about religion; it was about sharing your ideas with others in the hopes that someone that may be interested would hear it. Of course, I call that sharing, not a sermon, but whatever. So in the end, I didn't even have to do it ![]() Funny story though; my friend Alex (who is also an atheist) didn't write one but was told (like others who didn't write one, except me) to wing it. So he talked about the episode of the twilight zone where the robber goes to heaven and gets really bored from the perfection of the place and Alex said that he too would find perfection boring and would rather be in hell fending off demons (no doubt in my mind that the game Doom was playing in his head lol, like his favorite game ever). |

That's awesome dude. I was pretty surprised a few days ago to discover that there are at least three other atheists in my art class. The most other atheists I've had in a class, or that I can remember, was 1. I guess atheism is a little more common than I suspected. |
