Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Man, the internet is full of some great people.
Thing is, the planet is full of those people. The internet merely gives them a platform. It only allows us to see them. Without the internet we could pretend they don't exist, but now we are forced to see the truth.
So many people have so many thoughts on so many things. They all think they're right and refuse to admit when they're wrong.

On a related note, Not Always Working and Not Always Related have started showing comments people posted alongside the stories. You'd like to think that on a site dedicated to pointing out the blundering of stupid people, anyone posting their 2 cents would be a bit better then some other places on the net.

They are not.

I recently read a very long-winded and detailed discussion on tumblr about the ethical ramifications of having sex with a dead chicken before you cook and eat it, and the implicit unconscious reasoning behind thinking it was wrong or not.
Does having to read this sentence count.

I'm sorry but in what alternative universe would thousands of zebras be sent back in time by some sort of illegal time travel group to change history and preparing them by making gigantic working animatronic allosaurs?

Hmm... there was this one post by Macgobhain in one of the SE Census threads, it's been deleted now, but it was like one of the longest posts I've ever seen on this forum. I don't even entirely remember what it said, nor do I think the rules entirely allow me to repeat them, but I do know it definitely qualifies for this.

I once saw a bunch of people playing as tyrannosaurs on a video game pretending to have an orgy and all roaring at once. On a tiny cave ledge sticking out from a waterfall.

Many people consider blondeness to be a white-only trait.

That I know, but the person Dragon quoted seemed to be arguing against a claim which went beyond that statement, e.g. the notion of a group "owning" a genetic trait as if no other has a right to somehow acquire it. Like some sort of evolutionary copyright. Which is indeed pretty much what that poster is saying in claiming that white people stole blond hair from black people. I'd like to know how one can steal others' genetic traits-- sounds like a nifty superpower.

@Nano: A virtual tyrannosaur orgy would be enough, but the fact that they apparently forgot/didn't care that they were all crowded onto a tiny ledge is the cherry on top.

We do not speak of such abominations here.

And on a side note, I'm probably responsible for causing more weird encounters rather than actually encountering them. Though the ones I have had would probably get me banned from this forum, or would cause drama because some of the people I have encountered are very horrible.

Wait. Macgobhain? Is that the guy who barged into one of my old threads to complain - in bolded capital letters - about Kamineigh (then known as Fakey)?
And then, when I told him to be respectful and on topic or leave, he posted a bunch of gibberish letters with the sentence "CANYOUREADTHISYOUREANIDIOT" or something like that?
Or am I getting mixed up with someone else? That was a while ago, and there have been some... interesting people who've briefly been members here.

Probably, considering what I know of him. I first saw him when he re-surged in 2014 and if that's what he's like when trying to NOT get banned again then he something special.

The strangest encounter was on a creepy-pasta forum (not sure which one, there's a million of them. When some guy made a series of ling-winded posts about why creepy-pastas were real. Not even on the right thread he would post a Jeff theory on some smile dog thread and stuff like that, completely derail it into talking about his theory. Eventually he got banned but not before he mass sent satanic or otherwise mental paragraphs to pretty much every member. It was odd to say the least.
