Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Well, I've been here for a couple of months now, and I've been wanting to make this thread for a couple of days now. I really feel the need to thank you guys.
Until I came here, my interest in speculative evolution was very different. I had nobody to discuss it with, except my parents, and even then I know that they of course have better things to do than listen to me rambling on about the innacuracies of the megasquid. And with nobody to give me constructive criticism, many of my concepts became quite frankly laughable, as I've found that sometimes it takes somebody else's logic to make you see the innacuracy of your ideas.
Now I've come here I have learnt many things. I know more about evolution and biology, and have learnt to be a better speccer.
Also, because you don't find many kids my age (I'm 13) who have a healthy interest in biology, and much less speculative evolution, I find it difficult to socialize with other children, except a couple of my best friends. Now I have all you wonderful, intelligent people to talk to.
I admit, when I first came to the forum I was very nervous, thinking that I would be ignored or even shunned because of my age. But instead all of you welcomed me with open arms, and have helped me through my many mistakes, and I even think of some of you as my friends, though I've never met you. And I've never once felt like any of you were being patrionizing, despite my young age.
So, yeah, thanks. And um, that is the end of my grand and emotional speech ;)

Edit: particular thanks to Hybrid for the constructive criticism, to all the moderators for the warm welcome, and to Dromaeosaurus for agreeing to illustrate my project!
