Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Why do they gotta be "badass"? What constitutes whether or not an animal is badass? What's important about them being badass? How many times can I say "badass" before I embarrass myself?
Well I have been trying to make this project a little more interesting and there some animals that are so werid that there badass in my opinion I know that dosen't make sense I just been trying to choose creatures that haven't been used in a lot Of projects yet.

Future project ideas: Tale of the horned beasts - A alternate evolution project where ceratosaurus never went extinct and instead evovled to better fit the new challenges they shall face ahead of them.
Umber - A alternate universe project where portals have been opening up to a moon named "umber" other then a few species of freshwater and saltwater fish, as well as invertebrates. Pangolins,Iguanas,Noasauriade, and Cuttlefish are the most prominet group of animals.
Hmm, not a bad idea. A flying mammal and a Terrestrial bird together in the Carboniferous. What do you say Centralen? Would you wanna collaborate on this someday? I'm up for it, though after a little while, I'm in the middle of classes at the moment.
I'd be willing to do it, but I also would want to wait a while. PM me in the future when you're ready.

Projects Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates Last one crawling: The last arthropod
ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)
Potential ideas- Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized. Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal. Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

"Arthropod respiratory systems aren't really "inefficient", they're just better suited to their body size. It would be quite inefficient for a tiny creature that can easily get all the oxygen it needs through passive diffusion to have a respiratory system that wastes energy on muscles that pump air into sacs. (Hence why lungless salamanders, uniquely miniscule and hyperabundant tetrapods, have ditched their lungs in favor of breathing with their skin and buccal mucous membranes.) But large, active insects already use muscles to pump air in and out of their spiracles, and I don't see why their tracheae couldn't develop pseudo- lungs if other conditions pressured them to grow larger."-HangingTheif
"Considering the lifespans of modern non- insect arthropods (decade-old old millipedes, 50 year old tarantulas, 100+ year old lobsters) I wouldn't be surprised if Arthropleura had a lifespan exceeding that of a large testudine"-HangingTheif
"Humans have a tribal mindset and it's not alien for tribes to war on each other. I mean, look at the atrocities chimpanzee tribes do to each other. Most of people's groupings and big conflicts in history are directly or obliquely manifestations of this tribal mindset."-Sceynyos-yis

What made you choose these species?
The reason why i choosed those species is that they all have very unique evolution capabilities and they all hold alot of potential. Saltwater crocodiles could evovle to become the apex predator while the african wild dogs and the harpy eagle evovle to be meso carnivores. Bactrian camels could evovle to to become the main herbivore and so on.

I wanna hear your thoughts on the project i mentioned above where there would only be 12 vertebrates introduced into a terraformed world i need some ideas should i introduce more vertebrates or is 12 enough and what do y'all think some of the creatures could evovle to?

Seems a bit too random. The best "Serina-type" projects have either some sort of "theme" or at least have a "unified" feeling to it. Instead of picking random animals you think are cool, try building a simple ecosystem. Pick animals that are somewhat compatible.
Just a side-note also, but another reason Serina is so interesting is because it's starter organisms were small animals with relatively "simple" bauplans and generalized lifestyles. Animals like bactrian camels and zebras aren't really what I'd call generalized. Not saying nothing could be done with them, but I don't see them doing much that'd be particularly interesting.

I missed both times. and then I fired, and I missed. this went on for several hours. and then I fired. and then I missed. and then I was out of bullets. and then I got sad. I had a popsicle. and then I passed out in the snow. and then I woke up. and then I reloaded. and then I fired. and then I missed. I missed again. I fired. I hit something, but it wasn't what I was going for, so I guess I missed. I passed out again. had another popsicle. I had a dream that I was firing at something. I missed. oh, so she can pick a snowball fight with 'em. I threw up a snowball at 'em. I missed. I packed another snowball into my gun. that's my secret weapon. I missed. yeah, she's really something. I threw a snowball at her. I missed. I passed out. I woke up with a popsicle stick in my mouth. don't piss me off woman. I'll take a swing you, I'll miss though. I guarantee it. then I'll take another swing. and I'll miss. then I'll have myself a popsicle. would you care for a popsicle? just don't bring it into the sauna. I reached into the fridge for another popsicle. I missed. I got the cabbage. I put it back, but I missed. I dropped it on the floor. long story short, missed." -- Nancy Drew The White Wolf of Icicle Creek: Twist of Fate - PART 3 - Game Grumps
"When Ron the Mighty has stood in front of the gate of heaven he begins to denounce it. He cries, 'heaven is for those too scared of nothingness, I will go no further then my mortal flesh will carry. This mirror is the sick bed of heaven Harry, the eternity of pansy lies.' Ronnie will have nothing to do with the mirror, he is only concerned with the flesh and blood of the now. This destroys Harry. Ron leaves him to contemplate his stupid mirror, and the design of the cosmos versus the terminal beauty of being a wizard." -- Wizard People, Dear Reader: Chapter 23
Coming Soon/To be Rebooted:
How To Hunt Gods - Everything you need to know about Gods and the art of God-killing.
Intrazoology - The world of semi-corporeal lifeforms. A world you walk through every day, without even knowing it.
The Dungeonverse - Magical creatures forced to adapt in huge, underground caverns, while surface-dwelling humans go dungeoneering for treasure.
Crossover - A mish-mash of worlds, with Earth smack in the middle of the chaos. What could go wrong?
Ok, so here is my project idea. It is a terraformed world with certain animals introduced in an attempt to make some unique beasties. Although the concept is quite similar to Serina, I want it to be as unique as possible in terms of creature concepts and environments. Oh, by the way, this project is still a WIP, so leave any suggestions/ criticism please.
Here's the story ( WIP) so far:
Seemingly out of nowhere, the creators appeared in the system, carrying with them species from a far-off world somewhere in the vast ocean known as the cosmos, searching for a habitable world. In this system, they found an almost earth-sized planet right in the middle of the ''Goldilocks zone''. Their AI soon went to work, as it strangely seemed that the Creators themselves were missing, and have possibly met there demise, or perhaps they had not even gone on the exodus, However, the drones still worked nonetheless. After centuries, or even thousands of years after like any good creator, starting first with microbes and algae, then plants and eventually animals, They left hastefully, Just as they were introducing the vertebrates to this young, new world. Perhaps this was their intent, but their hurried departure would give rise to an amazingly unique world following in the footsteps of its mother planet, Earth. Although It is unknown what the Creator's intent was, Experiment, Nature reserve, or even colony, It is clear that the goal to make a ''second earth'' was a success.
About the project itself -
The project at this state will only explore 1-2 time periods, as I want it to be less chaotic than most multi-period projects. These two time periods will be 0-20 myh after the planet's establishment, to see how life is adapting to this new world, and 75 myh after establishment, showing how the groups that have evolved 1-20 myh have evolved/died out. 75 myh is the main focus of the project, and the more in-depth part.
About the planet/ solar system WIP -
Solar system: The star is a yellow dwarf, like our sun, and has a longer lifespan. There are six planets, two terrestrial planets, three gas giants, and an ice giant. The habitable planet (still haven't figured out a name for it.) is the closest to the sun.
Planet: Slightly larger than earth, has a magnetosphere, tectonic plates, and all that lovely stuff, and has 4 continents at the start of the project. I'm not going to say anything else about the continents because I'm not 100% sure on what I want.
Species introduced: (very similar to Serina, just making clear what was introduced) (just the vertebrates for now, plants and invertebrates will be listed in the actual project ) MAMMALS-
Brown rat (Rattus norvegicus)
Common shew (Sorex araneus)
