Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! Registration is free and instantaneous.

I had an idea for a group project under a similar scenario to Galapagaia (where in which the world is entirely simulated and therefore has no expiration date). In this project, it would work similarly to a terraformed world concept, except that the life transplanted has to be voted for by the community, although those organisms would have to fill a select broad ecological niche; such as main autotroph, an apex predator etc... Then once the founding organisms were selected, it would follow as a normal community project. Would this be something people could involve themselves in?
If you can do that it would be great, i don't think i saw it here before.
If i may recommend, it might be easier for voting if you make seperate pols, eg. main herbivore, main carnivore.....

Btw, how do you make a voting polls, I don't know?
Projects (they are not dead, just updated realy slowly, feel free to comment):
-World after plague After a horrible plague unleashed by man nature slowly recovers. Now 36 million years later we take a look at this weird and wonderful world.
-Galaxy on fire. They have left their home to get out of war. They had no idea what awaits them.

My Deviant art profile, if you're curious.
Before you get offended or butthurt read this

I believe it's an option when you edit the OP, and in order for the voting to work, it would be separate polls, though probably not present alongside each other, meaning voting could take a while...

As a side note, couldn't the cloaca breathing turtles reproduce by giving live birth? I don't mean through their cloaca, but maybe the mother could have a sort of soft spot on her shell that her young could burst out of, and then the soft spot can heal itself until the next time it's needed.
Turtles have hard brittle egg shells, so no.
We shan't be that easy to judge... Dinocephalosaurus, an archosauriform, gives birth to live young after all (or is that too basal an analogy?)
Currently a part of Specworld's revival and The Dark Phoenix's Dinosaur Spec... Still open for idea exchanges and commentaries

GENERATION 26: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the

Too basal. I think the best bet for amniote fish is cloacal breathing lizards that use their lungs as swim bladders. They can breathe "normally" when giving birth. Either that or hold their breathe.
Projects
Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates
Last one crawling: The last arthropod

ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)

Potential ideas-
Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized.
Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal.
Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

A future evolution project set on an earth where many recently extinct animals (dodos, passenger pigeons, mastodons, smilodons) have been resurrected by mankind are thriving yet modern species (elephants, wolves, tigers) have been driven to extinction.
Current/Completed Projects
- After the Holocene: Your run-of-the-mill future evolution project.
- A History of the Odessa Rhinoceros: What happens when you ship 28 southern white rhinoceri to Texas and try and farm them? Quite a lot, actually.

Future Projects
- XenoSphere: The greatest zoo in the galaxy.
- The Curious Case of the Woolly Giraffe: A case study of an eocene relic.
- Untittled Asylum Studios-Based Project: The truth behind all the CGI schlock
- Riggslandia V.II: A World 150 million years in the making

Potential Projects
- Klowns: The biology and culture of a creepy-yet-fascinating being

Dude, you got those ideas from me. All the ideas of cloacal respiration, you got them from me.

Unless lizards take notes from the river turtles and learn to breath through their cloaca, I don't think it's that's very likely.

Quote:

The best answer I can give is either river turtles or mutant lizards. However, I've just come to the realization that live birth can obstruct cloacal respiration. So unless they retain their lungs as makeshift swim-bladders, and can use them during labor, you've run outta options.
PLEASE NOTE: If I come off as harsh or demanding whilst talking to you, please tell me. I apologize in advance.....

I'm currently making a future evolution project were humans slowly evolve back into nonsapient creatures. Well that's part of it anyways, still I'm making my own predictions of future evolution.

I know, it seems pretentious, but I thought it would be nice to lend some ideas.

This is generally seen as implausible.

It's only implausible with the wrong circumstance.

They're usually seen as implausible. Under certain circumstances, possibly, but if it's just humans plopped into the wild, there's no reason to become non sapient. It gives literally no advantage.

If humans mate with a lesser relative and somehow produce offspring to the point that they're just another great ape thoughhhh, that's more like it

A "lesser relative"? Like another ape species? Not sure that's possible.
