I have an idea for silicon based organisms. Right now the main problems are how the heterotrophs are going to obtain food and what sort of electrically conductive liquid I should use for their conductive system. Any suggestions?

I have an idea.
Seeds.
Neotenic seeds.
Neotenic gliding seeds.
Neotenic gliding photosynthesizing seeds.
Neotenic gliding photosynthesizing seeds that make up air plankton and stand at the base of an entire aerial food chain. Aerial organisms would live at high altitudes and very rarely or never need to land. The seeds themselves would fall though, only to be picked up by wind soon thereafter due to their shape. They would come in all shapes and small sizes - umbrellas, feathers, winglets, feathers, multiple intersecting planes, all kinds of fractals... In case of rain, after it's over they'd dry up pretty quickly and off to air they go again. When over bodies of water, many would inevitably end up as sea fodder, but most would make it to the next landmass. These neotenic seeds would exist only at certain latitudes where much more land than water is present. Their lifecycle is simple. There is an optimal size for gliding, which is reached in matter of days. Once there, all energy is devoted to reproducing. Air borne pollen is ever present. Some seeds release thousands of tiny seedlings every few days, or hours in the more extreme cases. Some, more primitive, grow a single seedling and let it go when adult or nearly adult. Some reproduce most often asexually, by fragmentation, sporogenesis or budding. Most aren't larger than your average coin, with the very biggest ones being the size of a hand; and the smallest ones are nearly microscopic.
I have to figure out if the whole concept is feasible, to have tiny organisms that most of the time ride the winds passively.
More of a subproject idea. It's better suited for a gas giant, but I'll see if I can go with it anyway.

Why would they use a liquid? So they don't mass so much.
I gave up on that idea, what about a rogue binary planet system that heats each other up using tidal force?

Speaking of parks, I was going to do a park in the far future that "catalogued" different GMS (genetically modified species). There's reconstructed dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, a petting zoo with genetically modified pets and farm animals, exhibits holding different subspecies of animals from terraformed planets, and a great many aquariums and tanks, which hold genetically modified pets, like colorchanging lizards, glowing fish, see through frogs, and a lot more. I'm currently in the midst of writing about it. This sounds really interesting and similar to things that I've been thinking of lately, so I'd be interested to read what you've come up with. Genetic modification isn't something that I see going away any time soon in the future, I can only see it snowballing and becoming the norm. Nor can I see humans going extinct in the next few hundred years, unless something unexpected happens, which is plenty of time to develop lots of weird GM'd organisms! Which means a good bounty of speccing. Right now I have a lot of GM'd creature ideas, so I may at some point reboot Mutant Earth, probably under a different title. I think in version one I moved from the near future discussing pets and stuff like that to after the human extinction, with GM creatures running wild, too quickly. This time I want to focus on anywhere from 2020 upwards, throughout humanity's reign, before moving onto the second chapter, after human's extinction.

What about a scenario where T-J was worse and wiped out almost all dinosaurs (with basal Ornitschians as the sole exception)? What does the rest of the Mesozoic look like with no Saurischians?

Similarly to mutant earth, I'm actually thinking of a project where some of the GM animals that I have in my story escape into the wild, after current civilization "falls". The park idea is sort of a gateway into some of my other projects, both spec and story based. I can't wait to see what you do too, though I wasn't around to see it being updated, Mutant Earth struck me as a very cool premise!

I would imagine it is like a mash-up of the Triassic and Cenozoic, in that a lot of the predators are four-legged - either obligates or facultives. finaly, carnivorous stegosaurs!

As the GM animals would technically be so, though it would depend on some aspects of the project. I'm calling my written story Aftermath, and my spec project "The Miapenthecene" (a rough translation of reminder in Greek)

I would imagine it is like a mash-up of the Triassic and Cenozoic, in that a lot of the predators are four-legged - either obligates or facultives. finaly, carnivorous stegosaurs! Well, Sphenosuchians and Protosuchians are still around, so, they'd probably be the main predators but carnivorous heterodontosaurs would probably be around.

Well you'd probably be better off waiting for the park project, which is taking a bit longer than expected, since I am making it an interactive project.

Maybe all three of us could work together to combine our ideas into one mega-project?

Parasky: No, he's right, they have a medical grade walrus at most hospitals for that sort of thing. Mr Mysterio, regarding yours truly: I'm learning things about you that I'm not sure I wanted to know. HangingThief: An otologist is only as good as his walrus Stealth_Rock: We have a discord for double penetration? Ichthyander: If your eyelids are massive enough to significantly affect the path of light in space, it is time to go sleep. Mr Mysterio: Glarn-Glarn, don't... don't fuck the cave baboons. Kamineigh: They lacked wings. Instead, they went around in modified pilot's gear and beat the shit out of people using maces. Parasky: No! We will not calm down! This is a serious argument over whether or not some long dead animal is in any way similar to a group of modern animals that they are descended from! THIS. IS. SEWIOUS. Lamna: Obvious typo, I'm never going to be popular in Belgium. Trex841: Interesting point. Valid counterpoint. Self-obsessed psychotic rant. Parasky: No ties. Begin genetically modifying crows until we have organisms that roughly resemble those in the competition, and then have them fight to the death to see who wins this competition. Alternatively, Cephalian and SabrWolf could fight to the death. But at the end of the day something will be fighting to the death for my amusement to determine the winner. Yellowdrakex: Is it alright to have an irrational fear of gliding snakes? They're snakes. FROM ABOVE. Kamineigh: See, you wouldn't be in this mess if you began a bloody revolution every time your leaders showed to unsatisfactory. Zihuatanejo: Somewhere in heaven, a very groggy, very confused angel has just woken up and is trying to figure out why a boisterous Australian man is poking it with a stick. Komodo: I'm sorry but in what alternative universe would thousands of zebras be sent back in time by some sort of illegal time travel group to change history and preparing them by making gigantic working animatronic allosaurs? Seriously, why? Parasky: Maybe y'all should move to America, where you can flex your freedom muscles. Sir Spookums: It's a game about children catching super powered monsters, stuffing them in tiny balls, and battling other strangers' monsters. What about that makes sense in regards to anything, mister Kam? Des Orages: Yi qi. Just when you think you've seen it all, nature screws us over once more. Kaminiegh: This is clearly an inaccurate statement. I'd never challenge the authority of an admin... Unless Paraksytron stubbed his toe and fell over. THEN I, STARSCREIGHM, WILL BECOME THE NEW LEADER OF OF THE DE-SPECU-CONS! Dragon: Is normal a good word to use for describing any of us? Velociraptor: I once dreamed I was trying to steal a flamingo. The flamingo was oddly calm about the whole situation. Kaminiegh: THAT'S IT, I'M KINKSHAMING. Flashman63: In its 4,600 year history, men from all eras, places and classes have been entering into the Library: from the ancient bearded sages of Sumeria and Chaldea, to the sober-minded Academics and Zoologists of the Victorian era, to the great warlord Cletus, an inbred hillbilly who just happened to be carrying his AR-15 around his County's Strip-Mall library. OctoSharktasaurus: Well, uh, it's a pseudo-tripedal, terrestrial subcontinental Madagascan Beaked Whale... Is that not obvious? It literally says it blatantly. Corecin: If this is your first time with a lesbian love triangle in a DnD game than you don't even have to specify that you're starting out. Octo: Oh no now Little will enlighten with the deep and complex subject that is hentai lore. Beetleboy: It shows what kind of person I am that I'm seeking crush advice on a forum about creating fictional organisms. Corecin: I am not in the mood for looking up yuri because then the FBI agent monitoring my computer will judge me with reckless abandon. Blue_Komrade: Excuse me sir I am going to have to see if you have your membership card to the Misanthrope Club. Parasky: Ultimately, by the miracle of microbiology and biochemistry, I have accidentally added an additional month to my brew and created a Bavarian style hefeweizen rather than the American style wheat beer I planned, despite technically not having the correct ingredients. However because I wrote down what I did wrong its not a mistake it's actually science. Rebirth: I can't be the only one curious about what would happen if you spayed and neutered a male antechinus before it reached sexual maturity. Ebervalius: Laws? What kind of spooky cuckery is that? Parasky: Ah see, but that's just the thing, you thought that I thought that you thought that I had said you hadn't read it, when really I had said that you had said that you thought that I thought that you hadn't read it. So really it's Flisch's fault.
