Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

I think I've burned a few too many bridges to start this on my own, but anyone who wants the concept can take it up. I'll probably never have the creativity to start a completely original concept, but I bet someone would enjoy doing this one. I've been playing School of Dragons (yeah, I know it's a little kid-ish :") ), and it's given me the idea for a more plausible remake of HtTYD. A few folks on deviantART, including the very talented Hellraptor, have had a similar idea, but not quite on this scale. Most of the dragons still have six limbs, making them paraphyletic, and the Vikings remain the same. I imagine all the dragons, including Toothless, as having two legs and two wings. In addition, some dragons, including the Zippleback, Snaptrapper, and Fireworm, might need to be cut out entirely. If not, maybe conjoined or parasitic (symbiotic?) multiples could just be more common in some species. You could, perhaps, replace Barf and Belch with a Scauldron and a Skrill, respectively. Also, I think the Vikings should be a bit more realistic as well, especially in terms of culture and dress, within some poetic license. For instance, they should celebrate Yule, not Snoggletog, and their helmets should lose the horns.
Oh, great, it's this shit again.

Dude, not everything needs to be run through a magical 'accuracy' filter to make it good. Forcing everything through that grate gets old fast.

Actually I read on TV Tropes that it makes perfect sense (from a practical perspective for the vikings to have horned helmets. The horns would make it harder for the dragon to pick them up by the head or bite them off.
Wouldn't have two giant handlebars on your head make you easier to pin down?

A remake of Prehistoric Park to be posted on Cafe Cosmique. DaDog will surely be interested in it.

EDIT: I've also got another idea down, loosely inspired by a post on Questions that don't need their own topics. Its a pocket dimension where a huge flock of birds (like around a few trillions of them) fly across it every year, and most of its fauna have evolved to harvest parts of these. If I don't want to make it a full-fledged project, I'll make it a contest entry.

Prehistoric Park remake. Granted, it's WAY back in my list of things to do, but it's there.

Speaking of parks, I was going to do a park in the far future that "catalogued" different GMS (genetically modified species). There's reconstructed dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, a petting zoo with genetically modified pets and farm animals, exhibits holding different subspecies of animals from terraformed planets, and a great many aquariums and tanks, which hold genetically modified pets, like colorchanging lizards, glowing fish, see through frogs, and a lot more. I'm currently in the midst of writing about it.

How about a zoo for spec creatures? That would make a nice collab.
Projects
Punga: A terraformed world with no vertebrates
Last one crawling: The last arthropod

ARTH-6810: A world without vertebrates (It's ded, but you can still read I guess)

Potential ideas-
Swamp world: A world covered in lakes, with the largest being caspian sized.
Nematozoic: After a mass extinction of ultimate proportions, a single species of nematode is the only surviving animal.
Tri-devonian: A devonian like ecosystem with holocene species on three different continents.

Quotes

Phylogeny of the arthropods and some related groups

In honor of the greatest clade of all time

What about a zoo with animals from the future?
