Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web.

Very found of those mashup concepts, like a place with multiple continents supporting numerous faunas (one with various non-therian mammals, one dominated by non-mammal synapsids, one with dinosaurs, et cetera) and then see what happens when they mix.
Would it be with established prehistoric species on each continent, or merely generic ones allowed to evolve for a while before hand?

A project about Ontong Java being an independent landmass from the beginning, though given I have done too many of those already, and Flashman plans on doing it eventually, it'd be pointless for me to give it a shot.

Basially somehow a bunch of generic representatives got there and were left to evolve before collison.

So we have, say, an environment where eutriconodonts managed to reach their potential as Mesozoic's Carnivora meeting an environment with dromaeosaurs.

What about a project where, on a terraformed world, the animals introduced are those from Solnofen and Hateg islands?

It would be interesting if someone did an Alternative Universe project based on the wildlife and evolution of organisms in the Elder Scrolls franchise, like how life on Tamriel developed, hypothesis for the evolution of various species like humans, dragons, argonians, mer and so on and how it could all fit within the franchise's lore

I've got one that I'm starting to work one.

Basically take the premise of Sheatheria, - portals from our world into a stranger world - and use that to make a realistic Pokemon project. And yes, there's humans with societies on this planet; plus some very weird physics.

I've even got a map made.

You want to help me out with mine, Johnfaa? I particularly need help with the smaller animals that shared a habitat with Giganotosaurus and Spinosaurs, especially mammals.

Not much known from the mammalian faunas contemporary with the later, but the former co-existed with several cladotherian mammals, mostly meridiolestidans.

I'll be finishing up the first few articles by, at the worst, mid-July if Ingersoll is an issue with time.
The OP will have said map in it, and the very first Pokemon will be from rear-mid of Sinnoh's dex.

EDIT: I may have trouble with getting the map onto the post, but if not it'll hopefully be OK.

I was actually surprised when I didn't find anything related to Pokemon outside General Discussions.

There was one project, but literally every aspect of it was lifted from a guy on deviantArt's depiction of Pokemon.

If you're talking about Arvalis, I will be using his depictions as the base for a few things, in particular what Pokemon is related to what organisms as well as the their appearance, but I will be taking it far from just that. World building is involved, and I do plan to not rely entirely on his work. It's still great art tho.

Though in the end, what Pokemon are related to what will still be up to his works, though I will probably add some of my own.

No, I was referring to a guy called DragonLordRynn. His Pokemon-verse was basically the theory that Pokemon were normal animals that had been exposed to a possibly extraterrestrial virus.

Also, I just realized something: A project where the continents are arranged in a similar fashion to old world maps would be quite interesting.
This map, for example:

Would be quite interesting to base a project around.

I know that guy too, but I didn't want to use his Pokemon, because although he has done literally ALL of them, the science behind his are VERY much full of ASB.

so, if you're going to be just telling us what Arvalis' pokemon are & their relationships, what's the draw? we could go to dA and read Arvalis' posts on his work.
