| Speculative biology is simultaneously a science and form of art in which one speculates on the possibilities of life and evolution. What could the world look like if dinosaurs had never gone extinct? What could alien lifeforms look like? What kinds of plants and animals might exist in the far future? These questions and more are tackled by speculative biologists, and the Speculative Evolution welcomes all relevant ideas, inquiries, and world-building projects alike. With a member base comprising users from across the world, our community is the largest and longest-running place of gathering for speculative biologists on the web. While unregistered users are able to browse the forum on a basic level, registering an account provides additional forum access not visible to guests as well as the ability to join in discussions and contribute yourself! A alien world where a massive spongey soil coats the planetary ocean, so there's no water, Mountain-sized trees that form entire ecosystems, and life-forms that create water and oxygen like living factories, generating fire. It was weird. |

I plan of doing Future Earth 100 million years later. I started it. However there is an animal of the future that I still have some doubts but that is a cool idea: Flying Physalias. Basically those blue bottle's descendants would be big flying invertebrates. Actually they don't fly but float like a zeppelin.

“There's a tree," Starflight said, jumping to his feet. "In the forest." "No way," Glory said. "A tree in the forest?” "Ce corps qui s'appelait et qui s'appelle encore le saint empire romain n'était en aucune manière ni saint, ni romain, ni empire." -Voltaire "So if you wake up in the morning and it's a particularly beautiful day you'll know we made it." -Capa "One of those capsules hit a wing." Victor said. "Had to do an emergency landing." He pointed to a crumpled plane a couple dozen meters behind him and shrugged. One idea that I've been kicking around for a while is sort of a "deconstruction" of the classic Lost Word narrative. It starts out pretty ordinary--some 19th century explorers discover an isolated island in which fauna and flora from the late cretaceous period has survived to the present. But the thing is, all of the entries are written as they would be at that time. It should be pretty obvious, to anyone up to speed on dinosaur information, that if living dinosaurs were discovered in the 19th century, they wouldn't have been recognized as such. How would scientists used to depictions of four-legged megalosaurs and horned iguanodons react to feathered tyrannosaurs, for example? |

I'm not sure if that would count as a deconstruction. Still sounds interesting, tough, and a little funny since I'm working on a kind of reconstruction[1] of the Lost World. [1] I think, I should check the definition. |

I think I've come up with a name that works; The Wolf of Waikato. The names I'm trying to come up with for the creatures aren't just based on ideas I like. I'm trying to get them to be either based off the ATL Maori name for the creatures (which is difficult to come up with) or a name invented by British settlers/explorers. |

I would talk about project ideas I've never seen and think would be, cool but somehow I'm sure it would upset people namely a no quaternary ice age leading up 20 my past present. I already know people hate me just being a commenter. Oh seats, I did it now the mob will flat me for sure. Edited by The king of butterflies, May 12 2016, 03:20 PM.

A tidally-locked world whose sunward face is, on a good day in the shade is like the Atacama, and accordingly only has microbes living there on its wandering continents...but on the terminus and on the dark side, metazoan life thrives, and global circulation ensures that it never drops below temperate at the coldest. Its a good display case for iterative evolution, particularly when a continent leaves the sunward side, and - before darkside trees can spread to the newly-arrived continent - the microbes give tree-making a try. sometimes it looks like a stromatolite, sometimes like a moss, and sometimes like a slime mold. |

While I am presently working on ideas for rebooting my Terra Project (Alternate Earth lesser K-Pg extinction). I am also thinking about other possible projects. Right now - the other leading project I am considering is a Extinct Animal theme park project - similar to Jurassic Park/Jurassic World. But naturally there would be some major differences. 1st - all animals would need to fairly realistic - in other words no theme park monsters(like Indominus rex). 2nd - any filler DNA used is from the closest living species related to the animal in question. An example would be for gaps in a mammoth's genome would be filled using Elephant DNA. So for non-avian dinosaurs the genetic gaps would most likely be filled using either avian or crocodilian DNA. 3rd - For dinosaurs and other Mesozoic animals - since it would be impossible to make a pure specific species or genus - like T.rex or Tyrannosaurus, any genetically created replica would simply be referred to as either Tyrannosaurine or Tyrannosaurini. 4th - Also most Mesozoic animals would not be at near maximum size for that specific family. After all 6-10 ton theropods, & 30+ ton sauropods pretty much seem like monsters. So instead, the size of the created Mesozoic animals would based on the small to average size for the specific family. So no 6-7 meter long raptors, 12-15 meter long giant theropods, or 26+ meter long sauropods. 5th - no animals over 200 million years old will be created. |

So what exactly would be the point? We have Eden and then Retrozoic park, both cover two of the same subjects. So what exactly would be your hook for the project? Edens hook is being the only project about a prehistoric park on the forum, and then Retrozoic has inaccurate animals on purpose. |
